double stroke roller 12-21-2006 08:20 PM

I want a marching snare to... I really like the sound they make

Little Android Man 12-21-2006 08:27 PM

i really want one bad, im keeping my eyes open on ebay for a good deal on one.

double stroke roller 12-21-2006 08:33 PM

I saw a cool WFL marching snare today on a vintage site. It had a white pearl wrap. It wasn't for sale though.

Janeway 12-21-2006 08:35 PM

The headphones distort the sound to a level where it's unrecognizable. The only way to get them to sound remotely normal is by jiggling the wire around and pressing it downwards. They've been fine for the last three months.
I put them in their case after every use, clean them regularly, and I don't put them through any particularly rigorous use. There is no reason for them to be malfunctioning.

This is the second Creative product I've had to send back in the last two months for functioning improperly, and I'm not too pleased about it. I'm beginning to think that I should have forgone the $75 earphones and $250 mp3 player and just stuck to cheaper, more readily available products from another company. I once had a relatively high opinion of Creative products, but this is making me think twice about ever buying another one again.

My email to Creative.

I hope that gets me some free shit. They had better fucking replace my headphones, too.

Little Android Man 12-21-2006 08:38 PM

i love doing that to companies...

your definately getting replacements. they never let these things slide when they get direct complaints.

Futuro 12-21-2006 08:41 PM

lol high gice

Josiah 12-21-2006 08:53 PM

double stroke roller 12-21-2006 08:58 PM

yeah...I started at the beginning on the easy ones... I'm trying to get each one down before moving to the next.

I have a marching snare (got it for free, the ex-friend who "lent" it to me forgot about it and moved away. That or she hated me enough that she didn't want to call me up to ask for her older brother's snare drum back. I'd say both situations are equally likely.), but I can't get it to sound like a normal marching snare. Just like a really deep snare drum.

I don't really play on it alot. I use it more as a riser to put my pad on when I practice standing up.

Josiah 12-21-2006 09:02 PM

marching heads, gotta crank em good.

double stroke roller 12-21-2006 09:03 PM

have you ever played marching bongos?

_Wrathchild_ 12-21-2006 09:05 PM

Yay, I love my brother. I wanted so badly to go to a boxing day party before I leave during the holidays, and now my brother says he wants to have one here. This is excellent, because it's like I'm having a party, and I don't have to drive anywhere, but he has all the responsibility .

Probably no one but canadians knows what the hell boxing day is.

I'm sad though, because a friend I haven't seen in a while, who is so fun to party with and just generally awesome, can't come :upset:. I wanna party with him :(
marching heads, gotta crank em good.
It's got some real old marching heads on it (he played this back in the early 90's, so they've been on a good 10 years), and I tried cranking them once before. It was a really dead sound, but not the kind of dead that proper marchign snare drums have. More of a "pushing your whole palm into a rack tom and hitting it" kind of dead. Just a "ploonk" kind of sound.

I love onomatopeia.

Oh god. James Brown is coming to town on the 9th. But tickets start at $49.50 + service charges, and it's probably sold out. :(

Josiah 12-21-2006 09:16 PM

hmm ya why not sploodge for some marching heads?

Win A Rabbit 12-21-2006 09:22 PM

I've been half-assedly looking for some, but the main store I go to doesn't carry them and I hate asking my parents to drive me way out to the only store that actually has SOME drum stuff. If I ever go out there again, I'll probably pick some up, assuming they're not too expensive.

Do you think a dollar store would sell a little kit that teaches you how to knit? I'm going to be around town tomorrow, I may stop in to see if they've got anything. I want to learn how to knit, but I don't want to have to find a guide on the internet and sit in this chair learning.

TheBigMachine 12-21-2006 09:37 PM

Knitting
I here it passes time well.

I want a clarinet...

Yeah. I'll probably have enough to buy one after christmas.

I kind of want a soprano sax too, but they sound very similar. Clarinets are a little less nasal-y.

_Wrathchild_ 12-21-2006 09:45 PM

I want a tenor sax. Really badly.

I have all these solos and melodies in my head...but I don't have the proper instrument to play them on. They are sax solos. Not piano solos, not drum solos, and definitely not harp solos.

And plus saxes are just so cool.

Janeway 12-21-2006 09:48 PM

Mmm...Mmmmm.....

What's that?

A Selmer Reference 36?

THE tenor sax to end all tenor saxes?

And what else?! An Ottolink STM to boot?

AND Vandoren Java 3.5's?!

If only I wasn't the only one who cared.

TheBigMachine 12-21-2006 09:48 PM

So smooth

_Wrathchild_ 12-21-2006 09:52 PM

Omg no fair, I want it :upset:

TheBigMachine 12-21-2006 09:54 PM

It looks so nice...
But I dont know how to play sax.
But it looks so nice...

Janeway 12-21-2006 09:58 PM

Yeah. It only cost me $3,500 too.

TheBigMachine 12-21-2006 10:01 PM

:amaze:

_Wrathchild_ 12-21-2006 10:02 PM

Yeah, well my harp is worth $6000 >_>

Except I only rent it :upset:

My teacher has one that's worth $80 000.

Janeway 12-21-2006 10:04 PM

$80k?

Jesus.

Christ.
