Eran/Jon noone cares. Nick, we all know this place sucks.

Now everyone shut the fuck up

coheneran 11-06-2006 11:53 AM

The community thread would suck if everyone shuts up.

Iron Bug 11-06-2006 11:54 AM

It wouldn't be any worse than it is now.

coheneran 11-06-2006 11:56 AM

I beg to differ. It'd be much worse.

Another thing: People are always going on about how the forum or thread X is getting crap. What the hell does that mean?! Please, define a good CT.

Iron Bug 11-06-2006 11:59 AM

Talking about things noone cares about.

coheneran 11-06-2006 12:01 PM

But we were talking about things no-one cares about.

Iron Bug 11-06-2006 12:04 PM

Not true. I know many people that post here that will care when you shut up.

You have completely lost me.

Iron Bug 11-06-2006 12:18 PM

I ment not talking about things noone cares about. But that sounds confusing.

coheneran 11-06-2006 12:20 PM

Lol, still confuzzled (like a sea-lion), but it's alright.

Iron Bug 11-06-2006 12:23 PM

My point was noone cares about your outing to some flag burning camp or whatever it was.

coheneran 11-06-2006 12:50 PM

Oh, ok, I didn't realise we're not allowed to post about shows or events we go to.

It wasn't a flag-burning camp, it was a 5th of November Bonfire Party. The 5th of November is a British holiday because 400 years ago some catholics tried to blow up the Houses of Parliament while the King and Government were inside. Unfortunately, they were caught and executed, so every year on the 5th of November the British public have bonfires and burn effigies of their leaders and set off fireworks to commemorate the brave deeds (or misdeeds) of these courageous if misguided heros. It's basically our version of 4th of July, except much less patriotic. I went to a punk one, that's all.

Jon 11-06-2006 01:16 PM

Deleted my posts in the Anarchy thread, ya pussy.

If you want to have a belief, stand up, raise your flag, and believe in it with all your heart. Obviously ich mochte nicht die neu-nazis, but you have to give this guy props for all he's been through because of his beliefs.

[ok fuck it, I can't find that photo I was looking for, but there was this one of a guy with a prominent SS tattoo on his neck, two black eyes (one glass), a nose that had obviously been broken many times etc etc; if he wants to have his belief then he can obviously take a kicking for it, and you should to]

You fucking idiot, its to commemorate Guy Fawkes getting caught.

Its a patriotic (or parliamentiotic, whatever) celebration, its not some big "omg lets overthrow teh parliamentz" celebration.

Would you call England Belongs to Me patriotic? I've been thinking about it and am drawing a blank.

Basically because of the line "a nation's pride the dirty water of the rivers". wtf does that mean? Its a shithole but we love it?

And "no one can take away her memory" refers to the diluting of British cultural identity.

Jessizzle 11-06-2006 01:18 PM

TCT was better when all we talked about was drugs.

Liebensaft 11-06-2006 01:24 PM

This one time, me and my friend smoked *looks around* marihuana.

Jon 11-06-2006 01:24 PM

SWIM got 3 decent E's for £8 on Saturday.

Considering I was already fairly drunk (on free booze) it was a decent night.

Godddd Saturday morning though; obviously after an allnighter I decided to, at the peak of my comedown, go and sit in various guitar shops on Denmark St. because I wanted to try out some amps. So I was just sitting there in a trance staring at my friend trying to work my way around the blues scale. Badtimes :(

Lol Jon, I was obviously kidding about that 5th of November thing.

As for "A nation's pride, the dirty waters of the rivers", that basically does mean "It's crap but it's our crap." However, it does seem to have a connotation of asking "So what must we be like to love it?"
with techno
Techno is the new punk in England. It's just as political, and just as innovative as punk was in the early days. Besides which, it's just plain awesome.

Oompha oompha oompha! *Does techno hand movements*

Jon 11-06-2006 01:53 PM

urghhhhh stop using the word techno.

electronic dance music, pllleeeeeaaaasseeeee.

You have different types of electronic dance music.

You have trance, which is awesome. And drum'n'bass, which is awesome. And techno, which I really dislike. And happy hardcore, which was my first electronic music love, which is cool but is only good if its a really great DJ like scott brown or hixxy. and you have EBM, which is goth-dance music.

coheneran 11-06-2006 02:09 PM

Don't forget noize, the most horrendous musical genre to ever be thought of.

I love me some jungle.

Junglists unite!

oh man, the kids who go to those raves are all emo scene kids and me and my buddies always wind up in fights with them if we're drinking down there, they suck. But it'd be funny to go in and laugh at everyone's stupid outfits.

yeah but then its just politcal tech- *ahem* electronic dance music. It isn't punXYZ.

coheneran 11-06-2006 02:21 PM

Punk was politically discordant rock. So techno is politically discordant EDM.:p

EDIT: This is what started this?! It's such a blatant god-damn joke, if it didn't give itself away sure the smiley did.

Jon 11-06-2006 03:18 PM

Punk was never just about politics though.

Find me the unambiguous lefty twaddle in Sonic Reducer and you get Rep++

World Burns To Death 11-06-2006 03:36 PM

gtfo eran. gtfo.

AndreTheHyena 11-06-2006 03:42 PM

It's funny what your brain does in that moment right before sleep. I wrote this poem for my girlfriend last night:
Every time I see your chest
I realize that I am blessed
With the gifts of sight and eyeses
To see your boobs of tremendous sizes
Punk was politically discordant rock. So techno is politically discordant EDM.:p
alot and some of the best punk has almost nothing to do with politics

Jon 11-06-2006 04:03 PM

To be fair though, Eran doesn't actually listen to punk, he listens to folk-punk, which should be better called anarchists-with-acoustic-guitars; it has nothing to do with punk but a name.

AndreTheHyena 11-06-2006 04:06 PM

I'm going to write a song called "Folk-Punk's Dead". True Americana is much more interesting than folk-punk.

AIRIC 11-06-2006 04:07 PM

I recall my statement about Eran and Jon's gay adventures being bad discussion in TCT after Zak's assholery.

I love you two.

And yes gay adventures imo is what this thread is about. Please post away about your stupid *** campfires and shi.

Jon 11-06-2006 04:10 PM

Folk-punk's not dead at all
Folk-punk's not dead at all
Folk-punk's not dead at all
Folk-punk's not dead at all

Jon 11-06-2006 04:12 PM

wait, 70s punk is late? If post-77 was second wave, how would one mistake Minor Threat as early?

Eran, I hate to say it, but you know little about politics and less about punk.

lolz u lose 10000 punx points

(r)evolution 11-06-2006 04:27 PM

damn

Jon 11-06-2006 04:28 PM

Well, Iggy and the Dolls and MC5 were protopunk.

The Pistols, Dead Boys, Damned, Clash, etc etc were 'early punk'.

--

If post-punk started in 77 or 78, and the Exploited wrote Punk's Not Dead in 81, how could anyone say "oh, early punk? he must mean latter-day fugazi, thilly me"
