Yeah, mine are usually dry by then...just drain the water in the sink and let the strings sit in the pot for a bit to cool down. Then, take them out carefully and lay them flat on a towel (without touching eachother) to dry. Takes about an hour, sometimes more or less, depending on humidity, string type, etc.
:thumb: -Gav
I heart you, thanks. :p |
Wouldn't the boiling of tyhe strings rust them?
I always wondered about that. |
Hmm, about ten minutes and ..one string at a time or all together?
|
No, they're not wet for long. Besides, they're stainless steel.
|
Sometimes when I talk I say "pwned" ......... :upset:
HOW DO YOU PRONOUNCE IT?!?! Me and my friend argue about it. I say its "owned" with a "p" sound. "pohned" would be the phonetical (sp?) He says "pooned" |
Hmm, about ten minutes and ..one string at a time or all together?
No point doing them seperately. |
Hmm...boiling my strings for the 1st time, is there any way i could dry them in 3 hours?
A. You are preparing for a gig, doing everything at the last moment (changing strings etc.) B. You have to go to bandpractise/play with it in about 3 hours. I always have the A-thing.. :upset: I would just let them dry normally, but you can put them in the sun I think? |

Mine are nickel. :upset: |

Thankya. :) |

Me and my friend argue about it. I say its "owned" with a "p" sound. "pohned" would be the phonetical (sp?) He says "pooned"
Its just "owned". But kinda l337 language. Its hilarious on xbox live when all the little kids started shouting "yeeeeahhh i rule! I just pawned you!!!" |

I'm not up on my chemistry, but I don't think nickel rusts. Rust is a combination of oxygen, water and iron. It's possible it might react in some other way though, ask Gav.

Good boy :thumb: What kind of gig do you have? |
Wouldn't the boiling of tyhe strings rust them?
I always wondered about that.
Rust is oxidation. When you add oxygen to something, it rusts both rapidly (burning something is rapid rusting, or rapid oxidation as it's known in chemistry) and slowly (iron rusting over time, etc.). When you boil the strings in the water, it's a physical change. There is no chemical change involved because the oxygen in the water (H2O) is remaining with the diatomic hydrogen to enter the gas state (due to the high input of heat energy). Thus, no oxygen can combine while boiling. Also, as Alex said, they're stainless steal [EDIT: or at least coated in some type of anti-rust chemical]. :p :thumb: -Gav |

Answered. :) By the way, it's pronounced "poned," just like "owned" but with a p infront of it. :thumb: -Gav |
YES I WIN!!!

Gav...
You are too smart. |
Good boy :thumb:
What kind of gig do you have?
Actually i forgot...yes i forgot a gig but i have a jazz gig tomorrow a practice tonight and some battle of the bands next friday. |
On account of its permanence in air and inertness to oxidation, it is used in the smaller coins, for plating iron, brass, etc., for chemical apparatus, and in certain alloys, as German silver.
Nickel is inert to oxidation. :thumb: -Gav |

Has anyone here ever had Razzles?
They are the ****!!! |
