I'm going to see Iced Earth's first show back with Barlow just for the hell of it.

I'd love to check out an IE gig. :(

Edit: I'm in the process of writing a Power Metal song, and I'm writing it all out (In Guitar Pro, just so I can make sure its sounds how I want when its put together) so I'll have the music to hand out to my army that I gather to play it, and maybe later tonight I'm going to upload the Audio (Its crappy midi stuff but it'll give you an idea) of the song, and you guys could perhaps throw suggestions and comments my way?
No...but I've done Angra for South America, that is close enough, lol.

Since I use youtube most of the time to hear new music, I am going to listen to almost everything this one user has. He has posted like all of Therion's work, Avantasia, Stratovarius, and Angra. I'll be busy for a while.
Alright guys, here's what I have so far. Its not to bad, all considered.

Just looking for any form of feedback on it, and I'd also like to point out that there are no vocals obviously since its Midi, but there eventually will be, so in the parts that sound like a Verse or Chorus, there'll be vocals there on the actual thing. Also the file is only openable in iTunes (Sorry gay I know) just 'cause its the easiest way for me to convert it from WMM which was massive.

Edit: Oh fuck off, the page closed out. I may try to upload it in a few minutes, if I'm not so goddamn lazy.

atm I'm using WinDOS Vista (don't ask) but VideoLan Client plays your file.

That's pretty hot; it would help if the song had a title so I could paint something on the mind canvas to go along with it.

I imagined Rangers valiantly holding a keep in the North against a party of invaders ten times their number tbh

hey did you record that in guitar pro? if so send it to me and i'll record those keyboard parts to sound a little more real, im using the same synth module that Jen's Johansson from Stratovarius uses i'll make it sound more epic.

only if you want though.

That's mad sick man. I may use that as a subject for the lyrics. I will give you the credit lol.

Haha only if I want

But no lies after I'm done that'd be unreal if you would do that. Also, on a side note, I've been thinking about buying a Synth. What're we talking for prices and whats a decent but fairly cheap one (I'm going into Uni. next year so).

Shadows Within 02-04-2008 10:44 AM

well right now i have a Korg X5 with a JV-1080 synth module, i love it but if yuor budget was bigger than mine ($500) than you can probably get better, all depends on budget and if you want weighted/semi keys or a 88, 76, 61 keys etc...

either that or get a midi keyboard and get a program like Reason if you don't plan on touring and just use it for recording.

I have almost no musical ability outside of drumming (if I practiced again) but I have always had a literary bent and a good sense of rhythm so I could definitely help you write lyrics mang. Or at least review what you write. (Check your rep.)

I'm a musical master lol. I'm a Percussionist to the extreme, my main instrument being Marimba or Timpani. I've long since given up pushing my kit playing as it just doesn't do it for me like a lot of other stuff does. But yeah, once I write out some stuff I may post it up in the Lyrics Forum and I'll post a link in here for sure.

Ok, few questions...Any chance there are some free Midi Programs, and how would I go about hooking a keyboard up to the program/my computer and all that. I have no idea about any of this so...Here I'll go check what the piece of crap keyboard is (Its my sisters that she's stopped using so I stole it lmao).

Yamaha PSR-275

Its definitely not a beautiful piece of work, but its a keyboard at the least. I've got a better much much better one here but it can't be used for that sorta' stuff and its just too big to be moving around any.

Also on the keyboard there IS a In - Midi - Out place.

well I myself just got into the software synth i haven't got my keyboard working on my Vista computer but the computer at school (mac) hooks up perfectly, if you have a mac then it's easy you just get a midi cable and a converter like this

http://www.m-audio.com/products/en_us/MIDISPORT1x1-main.html

then you open up a program (i got reason from a friend im sure you can get it by shadier means if your willing...im not sure of any free ones.

Surtr 02-04-2008 03:35 PM

Alright, I run XP, though once I've got my new laptop sometime before June-ish I'll be running Vista I 'spose.

I'll check out a nearby Music Shop and ask about Midi-Cables and the like the moment I've got money. I'll also hunt down a copy of Reason somehow.

Thanks a lot man. :)

1338 h4x0r 02-04-2008 03:55 PM

timidity is pretty decent as far as software MIDI emulators are concerned. I'm not sure where you can get really good patchsets tho; that shouldn't be too hard in any case.

Surtr 02-04-2008 04:00 PM

Man, I can't wait 'till next year when I'm in Uni. for Percussion and can go in and practice and record some sick Timpani and Marimba **** and all that, and add them as tracks to stuff I'm recording. It will be unreal.

Poet 02-04-2008 05:53 PM
