Oh ok..I was just wondering cuz these guys did a gig at my school and the drummer did a solo. One of my friends (who drums) said it was crap because all he did was play the double kicks as fast as he could while randomly hitting the cymbals. I dont know a lot about drumming, and even less about metal.

Alot of drummers do that, it's overdone and boring though.

BludgeonySteve 09-26-2004 10:10 PM

Well, that guy sucked. Anybody can hit the drums fast. It's all about maintaining a solid rythem and doing fills and rolls to help the progression of the song. And a drum solo should show not just speed but fast variations and poly-rythems as well. The poly-rythem has escaped most metal drummers.

thickasabrick 09-26-2004 10:15 PM

you guys know your stuff....im going to bed though, i have too much stuff rolling around in my head now.

BludgeonySteve 09-26-2004 10:16 PM

Hahaha, alright then. See ya.

Paranoidd 09-26-2004 10:20 PM

I'm still here for now.

Organizing my books of CD's...into new/heavy and old.

BludgeonySteve 09-26-2004 10:22 PM

He, mr organized orgaanizes stuff that needs to be organized...

By the way your last 4 rants or so... brilliant :)

Paranoidd 09-26-2004 10:38 PM

Really?!

Thanks, I thought they were weak! That's the best thing I've heard in this weekend from hell.

I'm watching The Breakfest Club on a saturday night. How hurting is that.

This is the first night in about a month I haven't gone out...third night in a month I haven't smoked dope. And it has been one of the most stressful weekends in recent memory.

I watched the holy trinity of movies tonight

Trainspotting
A Clockwork Orange
Breakfest Club

gmoneyguy 09-27-2004 08:25 AM

Bumpzor!!!

Paranoidd 09-27-2004 08:38 AM

Good morning...I guess.

Shred Danson 09-27-2004 08:41 AM

All I have to say is Lynyrd Skynyrd. I can listen to them forever. (me=redneck :) )

Paranoidd 09-27-2004 08:51 AM

For some reason I can't really get into Skynyrd except for the cliche tracks like Freebird, Tuesdays Gone, etc.

It pisses me off when that happens...I know it's good music I just can't get into it :upset:

Shred Danson 09-27-2004 08:56 AM

yeah, same with me. I know Judas Priest is a great band, but I never got into them too much.

Paranoidd 09-27-2004 08:57 AM

Yeh I'm the same with Priest. Phish too.

Shred Danson 09-27-2004 09:00 AM

although Les Claypool is a great bass player.

Shred Danson 09-27-2004 09:00 AM

wait was he in Phish? ****!

Shred Danson 09-27-2004 09:01 AM

oh wait, Claypool was in Primus. Goddam,n I'm an idiot

Paranoidd 09-27-2004 09:13 AM

Haha.

Claypool has a few projects, he's awesome.

Phish just recently broke up, and I've tried listening to their music but it does nothing for me.

I'm the same way with Dylan...I appreciate and respect him, but don't enjoy the tunes.

Shred Danson 09-27-2004 09:19 AM

I dont really like Bob Dylan's voice...****ing annoying.

Shred Danson 09-27-2004 09:19 AM

Well, so is Ozzy's voice, but hey, he's awesome :thumb:

Shred Danson 09-27-2004 09:27 AM

Anyway, I'll post later, the bell is about to ring...(****ing school)

gmoneyguy 09-27-2004 09:31 AM

magicbus 09-27-2004 11:15 AM
How does someone like Angus Young make it on a 100 best guitarist list?
That's what I'm wondering.

Shred Danson 09-27-2004 11:30 AM

Angus made the list because he wrote the same ****ing song over and over again, but they were all kick *** songs. He sure knows how to make a G major chord kick ***!

Happy birthday!

Unfortunately that GnR CD aint too good. Too many covers.

slowhand 09-27-2004 12:04 PM

Wow, it's a shame to see what happened with this thread. It was kind of annoying to read some of the post by people who think it's a chat and have to post non-stop.
Happy birthday!

That's the same thing I said about that CD. I saw it and it was like what, 3/4 covers or something like that? They should've put more originals there... anyways, I've never been a GnR fan.

I'm still trying to find the Rolling Stones Rock 'n Roll Circus. Tony Iommi plays guitar for Jethro Tull for the first and only time. John Lennon, Eric Clapton, Keith Richards (on bass!!) and Mitch Mitchell perform as a group dubbed the Dirty Mac for this one time and the first time Lennon plays without the Beatles and is playing a Beatles song (Yer Blues)! The Who plays their rock operas live and is the last gig that will feature the original line up of the Rolling Stones since Brian Jones would die a few months later... I want it!

jpj 09-27-2004 01:21 PM

is it a cd or dvd or something  whatever it is it sounds kickass

EDIT: also if guitarted838 comes back in here i was right the first time. YOU ARE ****ING RETARDED! now get out of rock not roll's thread

Iwannarock 09-27-2004 02:10 PM
well at least some of us have our heads on straight. it's a start. i'm wanna see some band come along and revitalize the classic rock style...
Dude i am going to. its gonna shake the ages. plus people wanna see rock not screaming losers on stage shaking their hair. youll see ill be rockin out like the greatest did. you know led zeppelin, ac/dc, the who, the doors, bad company, cream, van halen, free, forigner, mountain, bto, lynyrd skynrd, pink floyd, jimi hendrix. man all of them.

Broken Arrow 09-27-2004 02:12 PM

Ok I missed alot last night here's my story:
Last night when i was playing hockey, I got tripped skating backwards. I fell straight on my ***. I went to the hospital and they havent said wether i broke my tailbone or not yet,but i did get x-rays.

So does anyone like Reggae?

Paranoidd 09-27-2004 02:14 PM

That sucks man, tailbone takes FOREVER to heal...

It's nice to know somebody is playing hockey. Gary Bettman can kiss my arse, lousy bastard.

Reggae? I don't mind some Bob Marley, but I hate that Sean Paul type crap.

Woodstock 09-27-2004 02:18 PM

Hello, god I cant read the previous pages, so annoying.

Broken Arrow 09-27-2004 02:27 PM
