Well, a bright and large china is kind of a contradiction. Larger chinas tend to be darker and trashier. I'd suggest looking into the Evolution O-Zone crashes or the A Custom Effects crash. 18" or 20" is probably your best bet.

crazyguy832 12-29-2007 12:14 AM

The Z Custom 20" I tried today was extremely bright.

I would've bought it as it was only $105 used... but then I found the crack.

*sighs*

I guess we can't get that amazing deal every day.

drummguy731 12-29-2007 12:16 AM

Dang, that sucks. I hate it when that happens.

haggard2743 12-29-2007 05:12 PM

When I was referring to the china i was talking about how explosive they are and they have a fast decay, not the trashy darkness although I am looking for a second crash like that too. Any ideas there?

Imperial Star 12-29-2007 07:20 PM

pretty sure vault and a custom crashes are as bright and glassy as they get, so check them out.

haggard2743 12-30-2007 10:42 PM

Went out today bought an 16" a custom and 16" AAX ozone and they both are amazing.

Little Android Man 12-30-2007 11:22 PM

What style of music do you play? What are your preferences in sounds?

ant_182 12-31-2007 06:44 AM

My favourite hi hats are:

all the mastersounds (a a custom and k)
2002 S edges
k hybrid hats

crazyguy832 12-31-2007 12:46 PM

14" A New Beats are easily some of the most versatile hats on the planet.

If you only play louder music, you may want to look into the A (Custom?) Mastersounds.

If you play stuff more along the lines of jazz most of the time, take a look at the K Custom Hybrids hi-hats (13.25", but because of the unlathed bell they're louder than even 14" K hats).

Ermm....

*looks at Zildjian's website*
Designed with Akira Jimbo to combine brilliance and darkness. Thin Crashes and Splashes project like heavier cymbals due to the un-lathed bell.
Static 01-01-2008 01:37 AM

it actually does jay

fishbulb 01-01-2008 03:24 AM

He was talking about something more along the lines of this for a lathed bell:

It's a bad example but you can still see how the lathing on the bow of the cymbal continues to the bell.

Panopticon 01-01-2008 03:30 AM

fair enough. My bad.

i just assumed that shiny = lathed.

HAs anybody had any experience with Byzance cymbals. If so, what is your opinion?

Im looking into the 18" medium thin crash and the 16" china.

Drum Phil 01-02-2008 09:51 PM

I own the 13" Dark hats and 18" Dark crash.

Pure sex.

Buy them.

Orely 01-02-2008 10:38 PM
What kind of music do you play and why you looking at those specific cymbals?
I will be mostly be playing alt. rock. Im thinking of those because they have the sound I was looking for. Im just asking for opinions about them. :p

MisurCanavi 01-03-2008 11:19 AM

I don't have anything against them. They SHOULD fit right in with a general alt. rock setting. In my opinion they are better live than in the studio, but what do I know.

CombatWombat3 01-06-2008 03:29 PM

Anybody have experience with Paiste 2002 chinas, mainly the 20"? I'm looking for a really versatile china, not too dark, but not overly bright.

oliv_da_skinmasher 01-06-2008 03:46 PM

The novo is bright the thins are said to be very dark. Try the china medium bright

vash_the_stampede 01-23-2008 05:17 PM
