Pink Floyd meets The Beatles.

Sounds good.
I'll get it next weekend.

blue3 04-23-2006 01:15 PM

Good. Which other albums do you already have?

It still has the Beatles sound

I feel ashamed, but I only have Abbey Road, White Album and That "1" greatest hits thing.

:(

EDIT: I got 3 Beatles Vinyls from my dad. I've got Abbey Road and the 2 greatest hits.

Lunch 04-23-2006 01:19 PM

I think SPLHCB is incredibly overrated.

That's what I'm afraid of...
I think SPLHCB is incredibly overrated.
Yeah, so many people blatantly quote it as being The Beatles best album. I don't think it's near as good as Rubber Soul or Revolver.

Lunch 04-23-2006 01:29 PM

You should still own it, it's one of those essential for life albums.

magicbus 04-23-2006 01:32 PM

It was my favorite for a while, but it was also my first Beatles album, and once I got more they began to grow on me. I still like Sgt. Pepper's a lot, but it isn't my favorite.

Ya but its still worht buying, and a must have for any Beatles fan.

Seafroggys 04-23-2006 01:38 PM

every Beatles album is a must have for every Beatles fan.

With that being said, its still a wonderful album, but is pwnt by many of their others.

Jacaranda 04-23-2006 01:39 PM
Yeah, so many people blatantly quote it as being The Beatles best album.
Thats cause it is their best album. Abbey Road drags on way too long and is just boring. Rubber Soul and Revolver are both great but they don't go up to the heights that Sgt. Pep's goes to. White Album just sucks and MMT is great but it never really feels like a full album to me.

magicbus 04-23-2006 01:49 PM

Jac I thought you didn't like the Beatles?

Tusk 04-23-2006 01:51 PM

I enjoy Revolver more, but Sgt. Peppers has got to come right after that for me. Its genius is in variety.. and its full-album nature. I love that no singles were released (or at least didnt make it to number one?).. it was the first true 'full album' experience.. where one song leads into another. Its got a very live sound too, which I like.

Jacaranda 04-23-2006 01:57 PM
Jac I thought you didn't like the Beatles?
What! Why did you think that? I love the Beatles but I just think quiet a bit of their stuff is garbage. (White Album, Abbey Road, all early albums - minus their singles.)

Lunch 04-23-2006 02:08 PM
Jac I thought you didn't like the Beatles?
You might be thinking of me.

magicbus 04-23-2006 02:45 PM

No, I was never really sure of Lunch's position on the Beatles.

It seemed like Jac was ripping on them whenever he was here. Maybe I'm seeing things, or it was sarcasm that I caught a few times.

Are you serious? I understand why you might dislike those albums, but calling them garbage is going a little overboard.

Especially Abbey Road.

TheShaneOMac 04-24-2006 12:50 PM

I think every Beatles fan here should go to wikipedia and search Beatles and click on their albums and read the backstory/meaning/recording to every one of their songs, it makes the songs much better. Songs you didn't like before will become some of your favorites.

(Go down to the bottom where it says official studio albums)

Woodstock 04-24-2006 02:30 PM

Personally, I think SPLHCB is pretty mediocre. The material isn't that great compared to their other albums, and it's fame is mainly due to its revolutionary ideas from its time. Still, Abbey Road remains high on my pillar. Pretty much a perfect album to me.

Seafroggys 04-24-2006 02:31 PM

uh, wikipedia?

Just buy the damn Anthology.

I need to awell, but its so expensive.

Woodstock 04-24-2006 02:42 PM

I have the DVD series. It's great. :)

Kaleidoscope Eyes 04-24-2006 02:56 PM

SPLHCB was the album that caused me to like the Beales, and in turn, good music

Woodstock 04-24-2006 06:30 PM

Any of you heard that the Beatles will finally go digital within the next year? I read an article in the paper that said they're remastering the band's whole catalog and will bring it to the online music industry soon. I think it's a great idea considering they were a huge singles band, and the fact that a huge market is available to them.

Seafroggys 04-24-2006 06:46 PM

Beatles album music > Beatles singles music by far, but whatever.

Its interesting to note that the CDs of their albums that you buy were remastered and originally pressed in 1987. A lot of other bands goes through constant album reissues and remastering, but for the most part, all of The Beatles' catalog was remastered using mid 80s remastering technology, save for Yellow Submarine, 1, and Let it Be Naked, but those weren't original albums.
