The Trial may be one of the strangest rock songs ever. It really does take the term "rock opera" literally. I like it a lot though.
That literally sounds EXACTLY like another post in this thread I read a while back. I don't think that you copied it, that's just worded almost exactly like the other one. Oh, and PinkFloyd, this is from a while back, but didn't your user title come from "When The Tigers Broke Free"? I didn't check, I'm just guessig off the top of my head. |
I am a CN solo whore.
I've been digging The Final Cut lately. My favorite songs are "The Final Cut", "Not Now John", and "The Gunner's Dream".
I own Ummagumma, Meddle, Darkside, WYWH, Animals, The Wall, and after hearing all of those, I still keep comming back to play The Final Cut. It's really a beautiful album. I suggest you check into "Two Suns in the Sunset" and "Post War Dreams" for some other great songs on The Final Cut. I will record a version of the 2nd Cnumb solo shortly, I think I have it dead on. |

The only thing I wrote was "in the form of a scroll..." :C |

Hmmm not yet but it rings a bell. Is that Mason's new book? I could be wrong.
|
Yes it is. It has kept me company in office work for the past few days. All we usually hear about is David's or Roger's view on what happened in the band, but his view on things is very interesting.
|
Sounds good, I will probably end up reading it when I fall *** backwards into a the book which I know will happen sometime.
|
I saw the book in a store but it was too expensive to buy at the time. I did like the photo of the guys with their football team, though.
I still haven't finished "A Saucerful of Secrets" though. I read a few chapters in, and put it down for a while. |

^I love the way it matches Roger's voice on the first note.

Anyone else that is a CN whore(like me), keep an eye out for my thread in a couple days. Im gonna post all my bootlegs/covers/etc of it.
Sweet! As far as Inside Out goes, I've heard it doesn't touch on Syd much, and so I'm not that interested in reading it... I'm not much of a fan of Syd's music, but I'd really like to know more about him. |
see the internet if there is a book on him or not | I really like the playing on 'wish you where here' I was learning it earlier, thanks to MXTabs
|

Yeah! That's so well done. I love it. |

I finished it a while back, it was a really interesting read, especially the last bit. |
Has anyone heard The Division Bell, Very intresting album
|

Yeah, that's probably my favorite song to play on acoustic. Not just because it sounds awesome, but because it feels nice to play. |
After listening to Animals for a day, it is now my favorite album at the moment. i feel proud to say that Pink Floyd comes second on my top 5 list:
Tool Pink Floyd Opeth Mars Volta Dream Theater What do ya think about that list? |
With a 12 string, it sounds 10101000 gajillion times better.
Minus the solos and everything, but the rhythmn part sounds great with a 12 string. |
on a rating 1 to 10, what would you guys give Inside Out?
|
8/10
I just finished it today in office work. |
What does it handle about mostly?
|
Nick Mason's view on the band, don't buy it if you're only buying it to find out what happened with Syd because it doesn't really get into much detail. Great book I'd say 9/10
|
I don't really want to find out about Syd. I'm more interrested in finding out more about the band's amazing career.
My one friend's brother has the book, but he doesn't let it leave his room. I have a Pink Floyd book, "Pink Floyd, The Visual Documentary" by Miles and Andy Mabbet. I'd give it a 7/10. It's good, but it's like a giant calander. It has all the dates in of tours and CD releases. I would've liked a bit more written history. Do you think I should go for Inside Out If I want more Written history? |
i heard that floyd was going on tour after live 8 is it true?
|
^they were offered but declined.
|
Weren't they offered like 100million pounds to go on tour again. That's crazy. Turning down that much. but then again, they already are so **** rich.
|
Yes sir, you seem to know your PF.
Funny thing in my grad year book, we got a chance to post a grad blurb and all. The only thing I wrote was "in the form of a scroll..." :C
I signed most of my friend's yearbooks with Pink Floyd lyrics :[) (<= I think that's a better mustache-man, but feel free to keep using yours) I've been obcessing over Meddle recently. Fearless is such an awesome song, I can't believe I'd never heard it before. That crescendo guitar riff is so uplifting, it really makes me feel better :p I assume everyone heard the oh-so-familiar ping after "in my own way", when I heard it I had to rewind to make sure I heard it. Floyd sure had a weird way of putting together their songs... Oh, by the way, there's a huge concert coming up this Saturday in Raliegh at Lincoln Theatre (a bar/stage) with 8 classic rock tribute bands, including Floyd (Floydian Slip). I can't wait :thumb: EDIT: 222nd post WOOT!!1! *cries because has no life* |
Yeah that ascending guitar riff in fearless can't help but make you feel good.
Before I came to this thread I always thought meddle was really underated.. It's nice to see so many people that are aware of its greatnesss. For a very limited while I thought it might be my favorite Pink Floyd album, its still a very great record but I really only loved it that much because it was so fresh and new. I still have yet to hear, FINAL CUT, ATOM HEART MOTHER, MORE, and OBSCURED BY CLOUDS. I could dl some tracks off of them...but I like to listen to PF albums in there entirety.. |

That gets too complicated, all popular faces like : P , : D contain and colon and a letter capped. So : C is the logical next step to provide an owange mustashe man. You can keep yours and I'll keep mine, then we will see which moustashe man lives and which moustashe man dies....... :C |

It fits into the album perfectly and everything, it's not one of the awkward collabs where they toss a bunch of songs together (ahem..echoes...ahem). Good album too if you like the Waters post wall stuff. |
