Well why the hell do people keep coming up with Ideas before me  Someone is always one step ahead grrrr..

I growl in anger at the mod who closed it also!

Riva 06-29-2005 06:43 AM

How about one of the mods changes Pigs' AIM trading thread to the Soulseek/MSN/AIM/Yahoo trading thread. It would make more sense than 5 or so different album threads. The YSI can remain seperate though.

I like that.

Especially for soulseek, so I can leech off some MXers. :D

Would it be okay to make a sticky thread about on how to deal with the differant kinds of that little of there?

Bartender 06-29-2005 09:47 AM

Well only mods can sticky threads, so you'd really have little final say in the matter.

Besides which, I'm afraid I don't understand what you're saying you want to make a thread on.

They seem totally different to me.. One is for as the name suggests ''Recommending Music'' Mine is for finding bands that match features you like in music.. I don't see why it was closed, it was just kicking off well also.

Which is what people do when they ask for stuff in the recommending music thread. You've done this before, with the MX Hall Of Fame, which was only different on the surface (not even that, actually) to the RMOTM competition.
I don't see why it was closed, it was just kicking off well also.
Everyone posted that it was going to fail, even Med, who had a rather delightful touch of the ironic/sardonic.

It's only a couple days old. I know it's not a great thread, but it's not hurting anything.

Many fights have brokin out and it should be in the Offcial LZ thread.

Would anyone be opposed to me making a weekly thread, where I upload an album to YSI, give a short description of it, and let people vote on next week's pick? Similar to Steerpike's Spotlights?

I thought it would be ok, but I wanted to get clearance from the top dogs first.

Jom 06-29-2005 10:22 PM

Sup to the Pink Floyd thread and such.

If you have to question whether or not you should post an article or not, well, I don't see why you would have to think that.

Just because others have a similar style and premiered their articles in such a manner doesn't mean that you have to feel like your contributions aren't wanted.

Besides, Steerpike is a great guy, he's not going to hold a grudge if you write your articles, provided that you don't try to walk all over his articles like larsagi tried to do with Vince's and Riva's threads and failed miserably.

The full-album uploading is frowned upon here, obviously, because of the rule in the YSI thread, yet people upload full albums in other threads here anyway.

So, it's your call.

EDIT to below: I think it's good that you're posting a first one as an experiment.

Thats why I was curious, I didn't want to cause a problem. I'll go ahead and post the first one, and see what kind of reaction it gets. They are different from Steerpike and Riva's threads, and I think people might like the chance to listen to new albums.

Riva 06-29-2005 10:43 PM

I'm glad I inspired a generation of Username's Well-Written Threads. :)

Seriously, though, the thread I can see is a great one. Good work.

Also, a mod may want to ask Jeremy or DBJ about the flip-out the forums went under half an hour ago, with a lot of pages reading "500: Error reading request".
