How long have you been playing guitar for man?

Let's Chop Cats! 01-04-2005 10:55 PM

Umm, 2 and a half years near the end of this month.

CONNER_NWHC 01-04-2005 10:56 PM

Sweet, me and some friends are starting up a hardcore band you guys got any tips for us?

Let's Chop Cats! 01-04-2005 11:00 PM

Uhh.

Have decent equipment, especial if when you start playing shows
Know how to find a good tone
Practice a good amount (Several times a week)
Be able to play atleast for 20 minutes before playing shows
Practice earlier in the day before a show
Each member should work on songs even outside of practice
Try not to be too generic
Be proficiant at your instruments/vocals
Music theory always helps

CONNER_NWHC 01-04-2005 11:50 PM

Ya we have some decent equipment and some guys that know music theory. But wrighting song will probly be the hardest part, i mean the lyrics.

Yeah, I hate writing lyrics. That's why I quit my band. We were all dunces and realized that our lyrics sucked.

Let's Chop Cats! 01-05-2005 02:17 PM

Oh man, I don't know if I can go to Champion tonight.

A-Life-Less-Plagued 01-05-2005 02:24 PM

Nice, modded. Sticky this thread!
Connecticut hardcore band Death Threat is reportedly calling it quits, after roughly eight years together. An official announcement hasn't yet been made, but the group will reportedly play their final show on January 29th at the Knights Of Columbus in Wallingford, CT, alongside Madball, 100 Demons, Death Before Dishonor, and others.
Do it.

BuddyBigsby 01-05-2005 05:37 PM

I just found out that The Great Redneck Hope are playing in my area tonight. I think I may go.

cbmartinez 01-05-2005 05:39 PM

Definitely go for it.

NewKindofArmy03 01-05-2005 05:45 PM

I heard about Death Threat breaking up, that sucks. I wasn't that big of a fun of them though.

The new Death by Stereo is gonna be out in April, and it has a ballad on it. Supposedly, it's the heaviest thing they've done yet.

New Bleeding Kansas.

Danish 01-05-2005 08:08 PM

You all should check out some bands from my area:

Two Knives (metalcore)
A Day and A Deathwish (hardcore)
Keep It Up (hardcore)

Does anyone here know Rise Over Run?

capri sun junkie 01-05-2005 08:29 PM

Preacher Gone To Texas, anyone? They sound interesting. After a little bit, it sounds like pretty good hardcore, then all of a sudden it gets all CTTS-ey.

The fact that they actually named a song after that very dead joke about BYD's name makes me not want to listen tot hem.

Jon listens to them. I'm gonna check them out. And that statement about the new DBS makes me kinda uneasy.
