Your idea is awful.

The closest thing we have to that is Lyrical Challenges and that's way way way different. A bunch of random people collaborating on a song is just awful, it wouldn't work and is a bad idea.

I know for christ sakes. I've dealt with this forum a lot longer than you. Drop it.

Fine then. I hadn't broke any rules just as a minor note.
I'm sorry you think my idea is "awful". I personally think most of the people who know what they are doing when they really write good and orginal lyrics are bit more mature then most people and will get something done. But I'll drop it. Just for you.

SubtleDagger 06-07-2005 11:30 PM

Even aside from all that, I dislike the idea of someone getting a bunch of writers together to write 5-10 songs for him. That is obviously a bad idea.

It's not for me. I said it wasn't for my profit. It's for all our benefit. It's not like I am not working at all and have the the workers as my pawns to create something I didn't. Let me say the word again so you understand COLLABERATION.

Well duh, of couse I'm looking for people to collaberate with. How else am I supposed to get this together?

SubtleDagger 06-07-2005 11:57 PM

Nevermind, you missed the point by a mile. Forget it, it's not being done anyway.

Whatever man. Not hard feelins' or anything. I know what you where getting at but I still don't think you know I'm going for either. Oh well. I'm not gonna cry or anything that it didn't happen. It's done with.

SubtleDagger 06-08-2005 12:07 AM

Good. I can at least give you some credit for that.

I was saying off of the list he gave most of the bands listed don't sound anything near. Most people make small leaps in music taste, not giant bounds. But meh, he can always try them out.
He said he needed to expand his musical tastes. I figured since the bands he listed were metal/?(?), he could probably easily get into metalcore. but whatev, just musical suggestions, its all good.

To metal: DEP is a phucking amazing live show. They're extremely tight and the crowd is usually insane. I saw them as an opener for Thursday with Number 12, and they gave the venue more energy than Thursday did. For their opening song, the venue was completely pitch black and this classical music was playing soft in the backround, and then all the sudden they exploded into one of their songs and they were jumping off the speakers and drums and ****...good stuff. The vocalist mic kept cutting out during the show though; he would try to act tough and make all these faces at the crowd...it was great. In conclusion...good show.

metaliq 06-08-2005 09:02 PM

ms: i liked the show, but his voice... ahh live, it is just the same monotonusness. I didnt enjoy it and we left before the set was done (friends idea). The guitarist put on an amazing show and jumped off the amps and such, it was awesome, but the vocalist just kinda walked around and screamed and then called the crowd names. Eh. I would prefer someone for DEP's vocals to have a wider range, like the band does.

hah, maybe I liked it because his mic kept cutting out and you couldn't hear him for most of the show.

metaliq 06-11-2005 11:55 AM

Saw The Blood Brothers last night, along with a few other bands. Check out Big Business, 2 guys - one with mad bass skills and a throat and the other a drummer.

Permanent Solution 06-11-2005 03:11 PM

I did not like Big Business at all when they opened for TBB.

metaliq 06-12-2005 09:40 AM

I did... I thought the guy was hilarious as well.

I am going to die now. Fosherious. Bye.

A_Perfect_Sonnet 06-12-2005 09:47 AM

When did DEP get a new vocalist? I'm never up to date on these things.

A_Perfect_Sonnet 06-12-2005 09:52 AM

Oh god, purevolume listeners need to be shot in their heads.

I do acoustic, it DEFINITELY will never sound like that.

Permanent Solution 06-12-2005 10:05 PM

Acoustic is for trendies.
When did DEP get a new vocalist? I'm never up to date on these things.
Irony Is A Dead Scene and Miss Machine both have different vocals. They started with Dimitri Minakakis (who rules), did the EP with Mike Patton (who rules) and then got Greg Puciato for Miss Machine (who isn't so hot but has his moments).

Dimitri was their best. Patton's awesome but he's too Patton-y for DEP, they would change too much with him.

Permanent Solution 06-13-2005 12:24 AM

Greg does a good live show with them, though I have no basis for comparison to Dimitri.

SubtleDagger 06-13-2005 12:26 AM

I used to have a version of Sugar Coated Sour live with Dimitri. You can still find it on SoulSeek. It's really frigging cool.

Permanent Solution 06-13-2005 12:31 AM

Heh, I have the stuff off MM's DVD plus actually seeing a live show with Greg, but unfortunately soulseek and my home computer don't work well together, and this is true with any program on this comp sadly :-\

El Oh El Konny. For someone who has the I'm Wide Awake It's Morning cover as his avatar, you are in no place to talk :D.

SubtleDagger 06-13-2005 09:23 AM
Who writes the lyrics?
It was the singers who wrote the lyrics, accordingly. Patton's were the most interesting; in my opinion they are the best lyrics I've ever seen out of him since his Faith No More Angel Dust days. Pixies and I dig those the most. Dimitri's were good at times (/checks user title), Greg's are awesome in songs like Panasonic and Coffin, but some of his others are just such blatant ripoffs. Like "Phone Home" is a terrible Dimitri attempt to make a song that sounds like it's about rape. Whenever Dimitri did those types of lyrics he was way more ambiguous and interesting.

Yeah, well. If you have 300,000 listens and no-one wants to sign you, then there is a reason, and it isn't lack of exposure.

WhatILivefoR 06-13-2005 02:59 PM

not EVERY band wants to be signed...

ATC 06-13-2005 04:01 PM

Are there ever any good bands on that site?

I prefer Greg's vocals over Dimitri's. Granted, I've only gotten into them recently cos I plan to see them at the Gigantour but Greg's got more melody. How do their live shows go? ANyone got a link?

wutasellout

A_Perfect_Sonnet 06-13-2005 10:02 PM

Greg's lyrics seem to say less due to his overuse of adjectives and just overall ideas, but I think his vocals are a lot more versatile (though it might just be studio) on Miss Machine than Dimitri's were on Calculating Infinity.

SubtleDagger 06-13-2005 10:12 PM

Yes, but "Unretrofied" is the worst song ever that was not written by Hawthorne Heights.

SubtleDagger 06-13-2005 10:18 PM

Dimitri had a killer scream though. And he had singing potential. He at least talked cool anyway.
