Dr. Jake Destructo 06-05-2005 12:44 PM

Demon Hunter recorded KitN and BoP last night on drums. He was going to send them to me, but I never got online. :p Oops. Anyways, just giving you guys a little update.

Darkness 06-05-2005 02:38 PM

Hey guys people keep telling me that this threads not aloud to enter the compition because its not an official thread... any thoughts on this?

Dr. Jake Destructo 06-05-2005 04:02 PM

I said this earlier, but even if we weren't aloud to enter, I still think it'd be fun to do a couple covers.

Darkness 06-05-2005 04:12 PM

Yeah ok. Still waiting for bass n drums...

Dr. Jake Destructo 06-05-2005 04:18 PM

Sweet. Now all I need is a tone that sounds something even remotely close to Morello's. :p I just recorded Killing in the Name, and everything went off fine, but I played it back, and the tone is so horrendously off it's not even funny. (Ok, yeah, maybe a little.) What settings are you using on your RP, DoG?

Darkness 06-05-2005 04:23 PM

Not using my RP, I don't use it anymore. It doesn't work well with my B.C rich, I get a loud feedback on a lot of effects and the tone always sounds way to digital.

As for amp settings, I was told Morello uses
bass-5
middle-7
treble-8

But someone in this thread said something waaaay different. I'm going to try both though.

Dr. Jake Destructo 06-05-2005 04:27 PM

I think I need to bump up the treble. The riff when my tone sounds the worst is the intro riff where he hits 3 open D's then scales up 2 octaves. Meh, I'll figure it out.

Darkness 06-05-2005 04:34 PM

That'd be cool man, but if you can't find any don't worry about it.

Dr. Jake Destructo 06-05-2005 04:53 PM

I could google it, but hey, if you really want to, that would be awesome. Thanks ahead of time. :)

Dr. Jake Destructo 06-05-2005 04:59 PM

http://www.geocities.com/SunsetStrip/Towers/6327/setup.html

Found this site on Tom's setup. He uses a Marshall 50 watt JCM900. Luckily for me, that exact same amp is built into my RP300A, and probably yours as well, DoG.

Darkness 06-05-2005 05:01 PM

I found a picture of his setup... one second.

Edit: http://s21.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=0TDA4YDFDV8XK0LLKM667LF4BJ here it is...

munky_magik 06-05-2005 05:09 PM

Try:
Gain - 6/7
Treble - 5/6
Mid - 4/5
Bass - 5/6
Reverb - 2
Using the neck pickup.
He favours Marshalls, recnetly the JCM800, so any British high-gain amp models should do you well.

Dr. Jake Destructo 06-05-2005 05:11 PM

I have an Ibanez with a bridge Humbucker and 2 single coils, and a 5 way switch. Which one should I use?

to DoG and Munky-Thanks for the help. I think that I'll be able to figure it out now. :)

Darkness 06-05-2005 05:16 PM

It sounded ok... but I have a really crappy amp... Peavy Studio Pro 112...

Darkness 06-05-2005 05:38 PM

Alright we have a month to do this guys...

Thor 06-05-2005 05:38 PM

Well the new thread is up, someone officially post who is going to be doing what for us.

Endless Obsession 06-05-2005 05:48 PM

Anyone wanna do Freedom?

Darkness 06-05-2005 05:50 PM

We should do know your enemy... that'd be badass... though the solo is pretty tough.

Endless Obsession 06-05-2005 05:51 PM

Darkness 06-05-2005 07:13 PM

Dude... its an audacity file. Convert to MP3...

Dr. Jake Destructo 06-05-2005 07:22 PM
Dude... its an audacity file. Convert to MP3...
http://www.audacity.sourceforge.net

It's worth the 3 mb download. :p

Dammit...Demon Hunter, you only sent the Project file. You need the data and everything else. Go back to the audacity website and download the LAME mp3 converter

http://www.webhostxpress.net/~mitiok/lame-3.96.1.zip

There's a link to the converter. It allows you to save files in Audacity in mp3 format. You can save them as WAV, but they are 6 times bigger than an mp3.

Also, I just recorded Killing in the Name, and it turned out good. I'm gonna double track it tomorrow. I also worked on the solo. I used the same tone, but with my whammy pedal. I sounds pretty good to me. The only thing I've having trouble with is the trem picking. :-/ Other than that, the song is as good as done. (For me at least.)

Metalhead-How are you gonna record? What kind of setup, that is. I have a computer mic, but I can actually procure surprisingly high quality from it.

Darkness 06-05-2005 07:23 PM

I have the converter, he doesn't.

Duncster 06-05-2005 07:43 PM

I'll DEFINITELY do bass for freedom!

Endless Obsession 06-05-2005 07:48 PM
I'll DEFINITELY do bass for freedom!
Alright if we can get vocals and drums.

Dr. Jake Destructo 06-05-2005 07:49 PM

R Blythe, would you play guitar on Freedom? I'm sure 617 wouldn't mind rapping. Demon Hunter is down for anything.

Static 06-05-2005 08:09 PM
