pegwedge 04-11-2005 12:09 AM

Yeah that is pretty retarded. I guess jam bands are just over his head.

Anyway, Grateful Dead, Gov't Mule, moe., String Cheese Incident, Perpetual Groove, Tea Leaf Green...I could go on all night.

Oh and www.furthurnet.com for JPage54. Spelled it wrong last time. :thumb:

If you don't like jam bands than why the fuck are you posting in a thread about them?

EDIT: Madey, Gov't Mule is very similar to Derek Trucks and The Allman Brothers.
Gov't Mule is very similar to Derek Trucks
Er...you 'bout to cross the line foo.

SplitOpenAndMelt 04-12-2005 07:15 PM

I probably already asked this, but is anyone going to the NY, NY Trey Anastasio shows? Or any spring Trey shows for that matter?

jpj 04-13-2005 07:16 AM
Er...you 'bout to cross the line foo.
K, not very similar. Kind of alike, at least I think so.

SplitOpenAndMelt 04-13-2005 08:19 AM

They all share members but....I'd say that the ABB and DTB are the most different. And they are reaaaaally different.

You shouldn't have come in here and said that, if you don't like it don't listen to it, its as simple as that. Dumbass.

That man puts on a hell of a show. His brothers (his band) are extremely talented as well. Though I would've enjoyed the concert had the theater had seats....god that made my legs ache.

SplitOpenAndMelt 04-15-2005 09:23 PM
ough I would've enjoyed the concert had the theater had seats....god that made my legs ache.
Sometimes you just have to wait for that one lameass song to just sit down, regardless of the theater floor smelling like a three ring circus:) But alas, that special song never comes at Victor Wooten shows, because they're all so good.

e p 04-15-2005 10:33 PM

Gah!!

I cant go to the Wooten show Ive been planning for weeks. I MUST be 18 with a valid for of inentification even if I have a parent there.

I would if I was at my mom's where all my music is. I can sometime during the week though.

wanton 04-16-2005 12:26 PM

I've been getting into Blues Traveler a lot lately ... What album(s) would you recommend?

Badmoon 04-16-2005 12:49 PM

Travelers and Thieves

It is a perfect blend of Blues Travelers Hard Rock style mixed with Pop.

jpj 04-16-2005 02:09 PM

If you like Travelers & Thieves you should get Four next.

Yea :thumb:

I just heard the Drive-By Truckers. Really good :)

jpj 04-17-2005 01:03 PM

I heard one of their songs, but I didn't really like it. However, I wouldn't want to form an opinion on them from just one song.

jpj 04-18-2005 07:33 PM

Have you guys heard about the Zooma Tour? I hope it comes here.

Is Save His Soul any good? That's the only name I remember when searching for cds

jpj 04-20-2005 04:13 PM

So moe. is opening for the Allmans for their entire summer tour.... :D :D :D :D :D

JPage54 04-21-2005 02:35 PM

Hey, what do you guys think of The Siket Disc?

SplitOpenAndMelt 04-21-2005 05:05 PM

It's weird...kinda unorganized. But alas, I love it! It's very spur-of-the-moment creative. It's not quite as weird as the White Tape, but I'm sure copious amounts of hallucinogenics were still involved. ;)

JPage54 04-21-2005 05:16 PM

I doubt that. Phish really stopped using drugs after college.

SplitOpenAndMelt 04-21-2005 06:25 PM

Nah man. Trey still hits acid, and one of my friends smoked some bud with Mike and Fish after a show at Alpine Valley in 2000 I think. I was being a tad sarcastic with the 'genics because they've cut down on those. They are big fans of shroomin' though...

JPage54 04-21-2005 06:38 PM

How do you know?

SplitOpenAndMelt 04-21-2005 07:34 PM

In a recent interview with Trey Anastasio in High Times, he described, in detail, an acid trip he had in the desert just weeks before. He also said that he still smoked pot somewhat frequently. All four of them have admitted to shrooming and smoking in between sets and such. You still don't belive it do you? :)

Jam2Me 04-21-2005 08:24 PM
How do you know?
Why can't you accept the fact that they use massive amounts of drugs? You'll be hardpressed to find a band that doesn't use drugs...especially when dealing with jam bands.

Jaded 04-21-2005 11:59 PM

I don't know if this qualifies as a jam band, but I saw David Grissman play last night, and it was the best concert I've ever seen.

Thornis 04-22-2005 05:06 AM

Heya gang,
My first post in this area but this is where I belong. Jam bands and the blues are my favs...so here I am...
To catch up to you all, my fav jam bands are:
Gov't Mule
Allman Brothers
Widespread Panic
some Dead.. Loved Jerry not a huge fan of Weir's stuff.
the rest is blurry..lol

On the drug issue..hhmmmmmmmm to me it doesn't matter. as a drummer who has been in many jamming situations..yes drugs do happen..and for the most part "help" the jam experience. however anything in excess is bad..lol
so I will bet most of the bands we are taking about have done, or are doing drugs.. let's just pray its getting stoned and not heroine.. I don't want to loose anymore excellent musicians to that garbage..

McMurphy 04-22-2005 11:10 AM
I don't know if this qualifies as a jam band, but I saw David Grissman play last night, and it was the best concert I've ever seen.
He is not really classified as "Jam Band" (More "Dawg" or Bluegrass/Jazz), but is most certainly held close by Jam Band fans.

That must have been a fantastic show :)

SplitOpenAndMelt 04-22-2005 12:04 PM

Amen Thornis. I'm a gigging bassist. I love to jam. There's nothin like popping a good handful of shrooms to fuel a long jam(for me at least). I do have trouble playing with ganja and alcohol in my system...I lose all sense of creativity.

6Stringer 04-22-2005 03:02 PM

Last nite I saw Steve Winwood play, greatest show I have ever been to! He jammed "Mr. Fantasy" and "The Low Spark of High-Heeled Boys" for around 18 - 20 minutes!
