i take it you already have all the soft machine and shi
?

FatalEnergy 08-14-2009 01:41 PM

Yeah, Soft Machine and Gong's early stuff.

Jaundice 08-14-2009 01:43 PM

Ash Ra Tempel, Guru Guru?

FatalEnergy 08-14-2009 01:45 PM

I've got the Ash Ra, not the Guru Guru.

I'm trying to get stuff I guess that's straight acid tripppppp. Less proggy.

Jaundice 08-14-2009 01:50 PM

Guru Guru isn't overly proggy, for the most part.

Guitar driven and psychedelic and what not, check out UFO.

Nepenthe 08-14-2009 04:15 PM

did you get chico magnetic? **** is ill.

FatalEnergy 08-14-2009 05:15 PM

Getting it right now. Soulseek is being sloooooooooooow

Nepenthe 08-14-2009 07:34 PM

you should def like. half of the time its tripped out to hell, the other half is foxy lady-like hendrix type stuff. ****ing good stuff.

Tyler 08-14-2009 10:37 PM

Lookin for some uppity folk/acoustic rock I guess. Now when I say uppity, I don't mean happy or even necessarily up tempo. Just something with some pep to it, something other than barren wimpering n ****. Catchiness required.

Jaundice 08-14-2009 10:38 PM

Not sure if it's what you're looking for but The Dodos - Visiter is worth a shot

Deth 08-14-2009 10:43 PM

idk if you listen to Owen at all, but I just got Owen - At Home with Owen and it's really good

that general direction

Tyler 08-14-2009 10:46 PM

Official Suggestions/Recommendations Thread

Sorry for the stupid thread title.

Looks like I'm going to be driving a truck at my job now, and I need some new tunes for the long 14 hour days.

I was thinking about getting some more Gordian Knot and Gorguts, and trying out some new bands like Animals as Leaders and Ulcerate.

Anything experimental and weird, doesn't have to be metal.

RetiredAt21 08-15-2009 06:15 PM

I like Owen.

Tyler 08-15-2009 09:15 PM
You might like The Mountain Goats. Check The Sunset Tree and All Hail West Texas out if you haven't.
Yeah, Mountain Goats is good. I need to check more of them out (only have Tallahassee) so I'll go from there to these
Also check Fleet Foxes out Coke.
yeah, already listen to them. Good reference point, though I could do with something a little simpler or catchier.
Dr. Dog, maybe? Fleet Foxes too
See above. Will look into Dr. Dog.

willfellmarsy 08-16-2009 09:15 PM

looking for death doom band thats willing to live up to the two extremes of the moniker aka they can be very fast and very slow...

also, i'm looking for a really good bass album...the genre doesn't really matter though i'd prefer more modern than oldie...i don't mind if it's a little too showy at times, but i'd rather some super smooth lines and a good fill while playing with the band...and a bass album that's ridiculously over-the-top in its attack would be nice as well

Tyler 08-16-2009 09:18 PM

Ridiculously over the top bass? That's easy. Pavor - Furioso.

Meatplow 08-16-2009 09:50 PM

Gang of Four - Entertainment!
Public Image Ltd. - Metal Box
A Certain Ratio - To Each...
Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds - Let Love In
Possessed - Seven Churches

you might appreciate the basslines in these if you haven't heard them already, some are more understated then others

willfellmarsy 08-16-2009 10:04 PM

iv gotten my let love in on but that was a while ago and the rest i haven't heard so il check the others out...

pavor is pretty cool but they may be a little too much for me to stand on a whole album...

Iluvatar 08-17-2009 01:26 AM

are we allowed to ask for links in this thread? like stuff we want but can't find

Meatplow 08-17-2009 06:06 PM

you can ask but I suggest if somebody wants to answer and its about something that isn't out of print and not commercially available anywhere that you leave an email address or some kind of contact for them to send the link to.

we aren't officially supposed to have links on here, they do turn up though. I won't ban users trading them openly, but I will have to eventually delete the posts.

The Feeding 08-17-2009 06:44 PM

i diddn't want to get banned is all. SO ya'll i'm looking for the Imbroglio album The Oncoming Swarm and cannot find it anywhere on the interwebz. If you have it hit me up i'll give you my email, thanks

since when can you ban users in the first place

Tyler 08-17-2009 09:10 PM

since the other night.

I agree with Meatplow. Don't ask for links, even if it's "underground" stuff. It just opens a can of worms and worms gross me out.
