Being and Nothingness by John Paul Sartre
<_<
>_>

Sad But True 06-21-2006 04:17 AM

I always wanted to read some sartre

Irish_Scorpion 06-21-2006 04:21 AM

Tbh i was a philosophy nub when i bought it and i need the lexicon.

Otherwise you have no clue what in the hell it's saying.

It's REALLY heavy stuff tbh.

I can finish a 400 page novel in a couple of hours, but that thing would take me days or weeks of nonstop reading to comprehend.

Meatplow 06-21-2006 04:23 AM

Avant garde literature sounds interesting, unexplored territories for me. Actually most literature is outside of Stephen King haha. :)

If you want some "light" Sartre, then track down a copy of The Wall. You can probably find a copy online, even.

It's only a short story, but it's brilliant. It left me depressed for about a week though.

Irish_Scorpion 06-21-2006 04:28 AM

Yah i've heard of the Wall. On various places i've seen, that and Nausea seem to be on the lighter side.

Sad But True 06-21-2006 04:28 AM

Anyway, what's everyone reading ATM (if you do indeed read)?

I've just got the Foundation trilogy by Asimov.

Father_Jack 06-21-2006 04:29 AM

Ok, I'm out, I need a shower, and no-ones in so I can play guitar really loud.

PerpetualBurn 06-21-2006 04:31 AM

Stephen Donaldson - The Second Chronicles of Thomas Covenant

Triangle 06-21-2006 04:31 AM

Actually, I need a shower as well.

Right now i'm rereading the Dune series (tbh the single, most significant science fiction novel/series. Ever. Frank Herbert is my idol. He's a genius.

And Thus Spoke Zarathustra by our favorite manic depressive Nietzche

Sad But True 06-21-2006 04:32 AM

I also need a shower. But I can't play guitar loud because I don't have an amp. Or a cable. :(

I really need a small practice amp with good tone. Might save for a Laney LC15R. Anyone agree/disagree?

PerpetualBurn 06-21-2006 04:33 AM

I agree that you might save for a Laney.

Irish_Scorpion 06-21-2006 04:39 AM

Guys its 5:30 am, and i have work sometime tommorow. I'mma take a rest and get ready.

Farewell 'lod.

Such an interesting concept. How the original meaning of words is lost when used so casually...

Meatplow 06-21-2006 04:39 AM

I'm reading the third book in Stephen King's 'The Dark Tower' series. It's really good, and an excellent series. I didn't think it could top the second book though but its proving me wrong.
