So, does this album have those awful metalcore-esque screams or does it also have good vocals? Because if it does I will look into this.
1. You're a cocksucker
2. The vocals on Kezia are great, if a little layered and immature.
3. The vocals on Fortress are about 500% better. Rody does an array of screams and growls and his cleans have also greatly improved.
4. Say "metalcore-esque" again and I will definitely make fun of you until you go away.
I'm too lazy to read this entire thread but if you haven't figured out by now, Cocaine the entire Keizia album is on the U.S. iTunes.
What the mother****ing hell are you talking about?

beans 01-10-2008 12:45 PM

damn! mess with cocaine and he'll fu*k your sh*t up! haha

Tyler 01-10-2008 12:45 PM

i'm just sick and cranky and hate when people say stupid **** like "metalcore screams", especially when the vocals on Kezia are clean. And when the music isn't metalcore.

i know man i competely agree with you, ive heard a couple of people say that his screams/vocals are 'metalcore screams', its just stupid. But i undastand what you're talking about.

Tyler 01-10-2008 12:54 PM

He doesn't scream on Kezia. There's like four lines he does harshly and that's it. Now that he's doing deep growls people just assume it's someone else. The guy can't get a break.

Static 01-10-2008 01:52 PM

cocaine is very protective of his beloved pth

Tyler 01-10-2008 01:54 PM

it's got more to do with me hating when people can't choose their words or form a logical thought than it does the band.

Josh D. 01-10-2008 01:55 PM

Cut them, Munro.

bluntboy 01-10-2008 03:18 PM

friggin love thsi band. Check this **** out: www.enterthefortress.com. Not really sure what it is, but i love anything associated with the dudes.

Tyler 01-10-2008 03:32 PM

probably just a new site for a lot of the **** they have planned. some of the promo stuff they're working on is ridiculous.

publicastration 01-10-2008 03:37 PM

metalcore-esque

Tyler 01-10-2008 04:29 PM

i just remembered kezia.ca

i cant imagine enterthefortress being any worse than that site.

(it's no longer up so dont bother looking for it)

Anglachel 01-10-2008 09:19 PM

lol

what was it, a fan site?

Tyler 01-10-2008 10:42 PM

no, just a really empty site launched to support kezia. there was almost nothing on it.

edit: but there was protestthefansite.tk years ago. lol to that.

Josh D. 01-11-2008 12:39 AM

Is the "Until the eyes open wide" countdown for the site launch time?

(on enterthefortress)

Tyler 01-11-2008 12:42 AM

Suppose so.

Josh D. 01-11-2008 12:57 AM

And I thought of that all by myself.

psssh...knowing how goofy pth are i wouldnt be that surprised if it were true....

Tyler 01-11-2008 02:39 PM

they dont make jokes out of their music.

LCR 01-11-2008 09:26 PM

man.... is it really true the Rody screams a lot more on this album? Is that really true? Or just some sick joke? As my first post, I will share with you all a very powerful story.

Honestly... I was once so frustrated by a troubling question that I sanctioned a pilgrimage to the applauded and distinguised library of Alexandria. I needed to resolve what I believed to be the most paramount and momentous question to ever be addressed by a member of the homo-sapien extraction.
What did I seek to resolve? Well, the answer to why every group of aggresive, talented musicians neglect to have a "singer" in their band, and instead throw in some random guy out of the subways who screams un-melodically at the top of his lungs.

This is all quite clearly above mere mortals. This must be an act of god. God itself must have spoken of this, in some long lost transcription.
"Make those bands with exquisite guitarmanship pick vocalist who scream like dying hyena."

But then my whole sense of reality came crashing to an end, when i heard of protest the hero. A friend first told me about them... but I didn't believe him. In fact, I called him a liar right to his face. "If the guitar players are good, the vocalist screams. That's the rule. That's the way life is. This rule will never be broken. You're just a liar".

But the rule was broken. Kezia had incredibly good guitar playing, and the singer actually sung. For the first time ever, I got to listen to incredibly aggressive fast music, rip roaring riffs that blew my mind, and.... and.... and..... IT WASN'T RUINED BY MONOTONE SCREAMING. There was an actual melody.

At first I thought that Protest the Hero would be killed. They had broken rules imposed on us mortals by beings much higher than us. You can't break such rules without punishment.

But now that Cocaine has given his review.... I see what's happened.
It was shown that a band with talented guitar players actually had a person "sing". As this is quite clrearly against the rules of all existence, God has stepped in. Rody now apparantly "screams" and death metal growls much more than before. They've "conformed". I hope it isn't true. I hope cocaine is just crazy... or a liar. But I doubt he is. Really... could it have been any other way?

After years of anger and resentment, I've finally come to terms with the fact that technical bands are not allowed to have "singers". I understand why you did it, pth. If I was given the choice of "scream in your songs" or "eternal damnation", I would have choisen screaming as well.

Now that is a rant.

Russell's Teapot 01-11-2008 10:05 PM

Um...Rody still sings on the album. Screaming more doesn't mean that the vocals on the album are comprised solely of screams.

And there are plenty of technical bands that have vocalists that sing. Like...a lot of prog metal.

Tyler 01-11-2008 10:21 PM

He still sings more than he screams/growls. I'd say it's a 70/30 split. The difference this time around is that he'll growl entire lines and scream and growl back and fourth, rather than occasionally screaming a word or two or having Tim or Arif do some harsh backups.

Also, I didnt read past the first bit of that "rant".

Also, I'm about 900 words into my review. Three or so more paragraphs to go of this draft. Never done a draft for a review before but I have to make a conscious effort with this because of how bad my Kezia review was, and to offset any reviewer tilt.

illpressureurhinges1 01-11-2008 10:36 PM

I just preorder their album with a shirt and a poster. Im stoked!
