Or atleast the Canadian one. I don't know about the American one. It sounds better.

Dude, anything Peart writes is great. I wish I had a percent of the talent he has at writing lyrics.

Actually I think that sometimes (particularly in the late Eighties and early Nineties) Peart's lyric-writing gets extremely hackneyed. Non-poetic and an incredibly odd emphasis on basic contrasts and metaphors permeate the lyrics of this period. "Cold Fire?" Wow, deep. I mean, sometimes his writing just seems a little more amateur than not. His best lyrics came out in the Permanent Waves-Grace Under Pressure period, IMO.

I seem to continue to serve in the "Rush fan reality check" capacity here :p. I must sound like I hate them, even though I love them probably just as much as you guys.

Anyone know where I can buy a kick *** 2112 t-shirt?

I see what you're saying. I thought they were still quite good though.

dylweed 08-30-2005 08:07 AM

my opinion on rush-a great band musically, but geddy lee is one of the most annoying vocalists in rock music, but im not knockin on their MUSIC. ROCK ON!!!

Hep Kat 08-30-2005 08:08 AM

and he's annoying because????

thunderzstruck 08-30-2005 08:09 AM

I love Geddy's voice. First Rush song I ever eard was Spirit of Radio and I loved his voice when I frst heard it

dylweed 08-30-2005 08:11 AM

its like fingers on a chalkboard to me, but everyones got different taste, im not sayin its a bad voice-its just not to my liking-like i said though, a great band!! ROCK ON!!!

BludgeonySteve 08-30-2005 09:10 AM

I was used to Geddy's singing from the begining and i've always liked it :)

Hep Kat 08-30-2005 12:25 PM

geddys voice rules

marmalade_skies 08-30-2005 02:03 PM

I love how geddy sings. I wish i could do that as good as he can.

I especially like the vocals on closer to the heart when he goes way up like that.
:D

YDload 08-30-2005 02:05 PM

I like all high-pitched male rockers. Geddy, Claudio, Cedric... and they're all part of somewhat-progressive bands too!

marmalade_skies 08-30-2005 02:20 PM

Yeah, but there are a lot of good ones that aren't progressive, too: Robert Plant, Brian Johnson, Axl Rose, to name a few.

Hep Kat 08-30-2005 02:29 PM

true true true

Except they have no idea what a "note" is.
Except they have no idea what a "note" is.
What's that supposed to mean?

BludgeonySteve 08-30-2005 02:54 PM

I'm sure Plant did, he was in a band with Jimmy Page.

Brian Johnson has absolutely no vocal range. he just screaches. It's terrible sounding :(

marmalade_skies 08-30-2005 02:57 PM

Are you a Bon Scott fan or do you just hate ac/dc?

I love the way Brian sings.

BludgeonySteve 08-30-2005 03:00 PM

I'm a Bon Scott fan. 90% of their music after Back In Black is utter ****.

Distant Echoes 08-30-2005 03:03 PM

I prefer Bon Scott in AC/DC, i think his voices matched the attitude of the instruments, specifically guitars, better.

anyway...Geddy Lee's Voice I believe is very good, and regardless of if he sounds like a girl, you can't say he can't sing. Anybody with a higher voice doesn't mean they dont need to try to hit notes. Freewill is probably the best display, right after that wild guitar solo.

I believe any band that can cover freewill has amazing talent. The work displayed in that song is extraordinary.
I'm a Bon Scott fan. 90% of their music after Back In Black is utter ****.
Your opinion.

I don't like much of their newest stuff, though.

My band is working on it. I almost have everything up to the solo down. Is it really that hard?

Distant Echoes 08-30-2005 07:16 PM

Yea. Ive never seen a tab for the solo, but it's defintaly wild. but overall, the odd timings, the bassing (even during the guitar solo), the vocals...its all incredible. Argueable their best work as a band...next to or near YYZ.

I don't think I have met someone who has perfered Johnson to Bon
Except they have no idea what a "note" is.
I'm not sure what this means!

BludgeonySteve 08-30-2005 09:41 PM
I don't think I have met someone who has perfered Johnson to Bon
Hehe, and if they do then I usually set them straight.

2112? Xanadu? Tom Sawyer? (other than that, I can't think of better songs than frewill)
