there is none. if yo ulook on the left side of the cd there is a web site http://www.nin.com/with_teeth (i beleive)where credits and lyrics are located. trent feels that cd packaging is a let down so he makes it available on line.
Ohhh.. thanks.
Its kinda lame though that he did that.

davelanger 05-03-2005 06:56 PM

The album sucks. Trent has really gone down hill i am sorry to say.

Yeah the packaging sucks. But hey who gives a sh*t about the packaging, espcially when the cd OWNS!!!!!

ATM 05-03-2005 07:02 PM

The first half is good, but it seems to go downhill after that.
The album sucks. Trent has really gone down hill i am sorry to say.
Why?
I love the new album.

Highlights for me are
Sunspots
The Line Begins To Blur
You Know What You Are?
With Teeth (I kinda like the Withaa Teethaa :/)
and Beside You In Time

The "mellow" song of the album (RWIB) is kinda weak but still good.

White Goodman 05-03-2005 07:18 PM

Highlights for me are:

The Collector (why does everyone hate this song)
The Line Begins to Blur
Sunspots
With Teeth
Every Day is Exactly the Same
Right Where It Belongs
Pretty Much Every song except Only but I'm sure that will grow on me.

nrvn55 05-03-2005 07:20 PM

only grows on you real fast. i love sunspots and everyday is exactly the same.

Magicaltroll 05-03-2005 08:13 PM
only grows on you real fast. i love sunspots and everyday is exactly the same.
Yeah, I didn't like Only that much when I first heard it, but now I think its very good.

White Goodman 05-03-2005 08:31 PM

I'll have to give it a few more listens. I'm sure I will enjoy it better after a few listens. And personally, call me crazy, I think this is some of Trent's best work.

Yeah, melodically I would definitely say that.

nrvn55 05-03-2005 08:42 PM

yea...i hated only...i thought it was elementary...but now i can;t stop singing "there is no you there is only me...etc,etc."

BlindWriting 05-03-2005 09:25 PM

I'm getting it tomorrow, and I simply cannot wait.
Where IS the booklet
And this CD... is great.. NO, amazing.
Thank you Trent, for not dissapointing me :)

I just got through listening to it. This CD is fucking amazing in my opinion. It's really dark, and I love the simple packaging...the picture of Trent owns. I love the robotic/machine feel that comes into play in many of the songs.

The frequent visit of piano in some form of many of the songs is great. The Collector is a decent song until that piano line comes in near the end. Just makes it so much cooler.
I find the CD to be very dark and the blue/black/grey color of the packaging fits the music very well. I love the grinding sound on songs like Love is Not Enough.

Favorites:
Love Is Not Enough
Every Day Is Exactly The Same
With Teeth
The Line Begins To Blur
Beside You In Time --- absoultely orgasmic.

Only is really weird, but still cool in its own way.

I also don't see where people draw the comparison between this and Pretty Hate Machine. They don't sound much alike in my opinion, aside from a few parts on some tracks. This album really stands alone...it's different than all the other NIN albums. I still think Trent has it in him. THis is a lot different, but hell, he didn't set out to remake TDS, which seems to be what some people want for some reason.

The end is cool, because it's a meloncholy song but it's also a little uplifting as the cheering crowd comes in. Good ending to the CD, in my opinon.

I'm looking forward to listening to the 5.1 mix tommorow.

- Everything you just said.

I draw the comparison between PHM and With Teeth because both albums are very stripped down and more song oriented then anything else he's done.

anyway.. I think the album is down right brilliant. I really do feel sorry for people who don't like it.

Nicholas Sutton 05-03-2005 10:35 PM

I love love love love love love love love love love love love love love LOVE this album. And I knew I would.

I'm too big a Reznor fan to turn this down, to me this feels like exactly what NIN should be sounding like these days, it sounds like this album would not even be possible without all the albums before it and this is just an accumulation of all Reznor's done musically in past albums, some aspects of previous albums are definetely seen on this album and every song is unique in their own ways, I love this album, best album so far of 2005 and I really can't see it being topped in my mind.

It surprises me that nobodies mentioning Only as a favorite song. It's definetely my favorite, I just love the energy, the lyrics, everything about this song is just really catchy and I've been listening to it straight for the past hour.

I just hope it's not another 6 years for another album.....*sigh* it is isn't it.

Good news, buddy: According to Reznor himself, it WILL NOT be another six years... :thumb:

ShadowMan 05-03-2005 11:14 PM

I agree with the PHMness of it. I really miss the abrasive, multi-layeredness of Downward Spiral. Still good, but I have to give it a couple good listens yet. Seems much more clean.

insertnamehere 05-04-2005 11:01 AM

I've been listening to the cd since i got it yesterday. It surprised me a lot, but is still amazing.

It reminded me also a hell of a lot of Pretty Hate Machine when I heard it -but i found that change pretty refreshing. As much as i love the Fragile and Downward Spiral, i'm not sure if he could have kept it as origional by just taking that same route. Moving back into the style with PHM made it sound much more fresh.

Anyone else think Trent's vocals sounded stronger on this album? I'm not sure what it is... but he just sounds far more confident, maybe just better.

I heard Only was the heaviest song on the album... thanks to that, i almost shouted "what the ****?" in the bus-stop when i hit that track. The old lady next to me gave me a wierd look. Oh well... i'd say it was worth the five years waiting.

ATM 05-04-2005 11:43 AM

I like the song that is about being a face in the crowd. It's fun to blast it.

The_Shredder 05-04-2005 12:08 PM

Yeah, I've had this album on repeat for the last day and a half. Amazing album, amazing production, amazing everything.

Only is a great song, I can wait to see people's reactions to it since it's the next single.

I think his vocals are better, but then again kind of worse.
I think he's sort of missing that edge he use to have. I mean, he stilll kind of has it. But I feel that the older albums had more emotion, its still there very much, its just not as much I think.
My mind will probably change though.
And his voice is a bit clearer and softer in some parts, and I also like that.

nrvn55 05-04-2005 01:25 PM

the live instruments really give yo uthe "live experiance" if yo uwill. this album sounds alot like "aatchb..." in the sense that it just sounds live. it is much more agressive from the live drums. i think his voice sounds weaker at some points because he didn;t layer the falsetto vocals. on songs like "all the love in the world" he has just a solo track doing the vocals where in the past (best example because i just heard it) on "heresy" he has a alto voicing along with a falsetto so they sound stronger. i agree with you shredder in the comparisson of phm because it is much more stripped down then past albums. all in all it is a great album.

Kage 05-04-2005 02:15 PM

I see in that sense, it is similar to PHM, as opposed to The Fragile or The Downward Spiral. But it's still a very fresh take. There's a lot of ambience to it, yet it maintains a really hard edge on a lot of the songs. I also find that the bass plays a very important role in the songs.

It's stripped down, but there are still parts that are quite layered as well. And we still see some classic NIN breakdowns, like at around 3:20 in With Teeth as well as the classic NIN build up on Beside You In Time and some other songs. The lyrics are great, in my opinion, and Every Day Is Exactly the same is near perfection in the way the vocals meld with the ambience of the surrounding instrumentals. It's still very emotional and it's still got the NIN edge.

Hey....this question is directed to those who have heard the album and own it. I want to get into NIN....is this album worth the money?

Yeah, I definitely think so.
And I would say this is the most "friendly" of the discography.
Very good album anyway :)

Ok, so I don't know if you guys have seen the lyrics and credits for "With Teeth" online or not but I just noticed that there are lyrics in there for a song called "The Life You Didn't Lead"...does anyone know what this is? Is it suppose to be on an imported version of "With Teeth". I'd only heard of "Home" though. A Hidden track? This is rather strange...and interesting.

I found something else like that, too, on the downloadable credits. Called "A Letter To No One", or something like that.
Anyway, With Teeth was great. It was a much different approach to NIN, with a mellower, more melancholy, far less cathartic sound than in his previous stuff. Dave Grohl on drums gave the album a much more organic feel, which countered the electro-rock in most of the music.
I still prefer The Downward Spiral and The Fragile, both of which tie as my favorite NIN album. Lyrically, With Teeth was a bit of a letdown, and The Fragile was musically superior to it, but there were some standout songs, including "Right Where It Belongs". And this is all just after the first listen. I'm sure I'll be discovering new things as I listen more.

BlindWriting 05-04-2005 05:24 PM

And has anyone made any remixes to The Hand That Feeds with Garageband?
I have an idea in my head, and I'd love to find a way to upload it somewhere and post a link.

Kage 05-04-2005 09:08 PM

What is all this about a secret track? I've listened straight through the CD and there's no secret track for me.

I like the new drum style, but then again I don't. It's different, which is what I like about it...but on songs like The Line Begins To Blur and All The Love In The World, there is the classic NIN drum sound that just screams Trent Reznor. I prefer that style of drums for NIN music. I was wrong in that I didn't think Grohl's drumming would make a big difference on the album, because it does (for those that didn't know, on TDS and TF, Trent recorded live drums, looped them, and then ran them through synths to give them the signature Electro-sound). It's good for what it is, but I actually prefer Trent-style drums.

Still loving the album, though. With every listen it gets better and better.

misunderstood 05-04-2005 09:17 PM

I loved the new album as well and you're right..it gets better and better with every listen. About the whole secret track thing. I've also listened to the album straight through and didn't find anything...it's just those extra lyrics that appear on the With Teeth site. Maybe something new will pop up somewhere on the site later on. Who knows.
