I saw the Pink Floyd laser show last night. The whole thing was WWII based basically, except for when they were just showing laser graphics.
Which one? I've seen The Wall and DSOTM laser shows. A couple friends of mine have also seen the Best of Pink Floyd laser show and a Jimi Hendrix vs. Pink Foyd laser show. |
Now that would have been something to see.
|
Yeah, I woulda loved to have seen it... was out of town, unfortunately.
|
does anyone know how much the tickets to pulse were? someone told me they were like $2000!!
|
I sincerely doubt they were that expensive. No way they'd sell as many as they did if it cost that much money. Maybe to get really good tickets, or from a scalper, they might come to that much. As for general admission, I doubt it got much over $100.
It's incredible. You won't regret going. They play great songs (as if everything by Pink Floyd wasn't great), and sound pretty much spot on. Did to me at least, but I saw them awhile ago, back when I didn't know much about music... Are they still performing DSOTM?
i seen them a month ago in Philadelphia PA, and they were great. They started by covering the entire DSOTM...just about nailed it. They changed money a little, and Any colour you like wasnt as accurate, but it was still incredible. The lights and screen movie they play was good to. Especially during Brain Damage  But then after the album, their was an intermission, and they played songs like SOYCD, Welcome to the machine, and about one song from every album after Syd left. Their encore was Wish you were here and Comfortably Numb. man...what a solo. It mustve been 3x longer. But Their defintaly worth seeing. Make sure your in a seat you can get a good veiw of the video screen though. I love how they tie their pink kangaroo into everything...good stuff |

Except they also did Run Like Hell as an encore. Man, that show was killer. I got the Wall t-shirt that had the hammers, but had kangaroo's for hammer heads... good stuff. |
PINK FLOYD SUCKS!
I'm just playing. I do think their Dark Side Of The Moon album is ok (have it on vinyl), yet that's all I like by them. |

I seen them. Me and my parents were argueing over what their symbol was with the rainbow. MY parents said it was a broken piece of glass, i said it was australia shaped. After they looked at a globe (2 days later), they agreed. Did they inflate that huge kangaroo during Sorrow, i think, because that was frikkin awsome. Run Like hell was the song before the encore. I never originally liked it much, but after seeing it live, its much better than i ever though of it. And I dont know if theres different backround singers on their tours, but the woman we had doing the Great Gig...Dude, it blew me away. She was defintaly better than the CD, it mightve been the best part of the show...next to comfortably numb. After Ive seen the show, and shortly after decided I will never be able to play anything orginal on guitar in my life and was a failure, ive decided to cover the entire album to. I dont know who else here plays guitar, but Id defintaly need some advice on effects. I know what he uses but 1. The Leslie Dynacord CLS222 has been stopped production and i need a similar effect like it 2. I need to know which i will need first (by most important), and i plan on getting a Marsall 30 watt amp ($250) soon, and i think that has a few on it. 3. On the Run = utter confusion on where to start But other than that, i just about know the whole album. Still learning Any colour you like, and that is a hard *** song, and i dont have the Dynacord so its hard to tell what im even playing...but if anyone knows what im talking about, help would be appreciated. |

I'm not really tech savvy, so I can't help you with the gear used, but I do know that without the keys, its going to be VERY hard to simulate the Pink Floyd sound. Especially on songs like Money. The guitar and keyboard mesh so well, its sometimes hard to tell which is which. |

i have been takin up some nice wish you were here lately. more specifically, shine on you crazy diamond. the wind effects, the keyboard and guitar solos are amazing to me and relaxing to listen to. ive also listened to alans psychedelic breakfast alot lately (can you see the extended piece pattern going on?). the piano, while quite simple, are also pretty cool sounding. end of thought...
|
floyd is awsome
as much as man people hate it i like the final cut, the whole album isnt the best but the song i like, and i agree, comfortably numb, wish you were here are amazing,
one thing that extremely bugs me is people that listen to brain damage without echoes following it, they go together you cant just listen to braing damage without echoes...yea anyway.... |
I've said it before, and I'll say it again. Everyone needs to listen to Shine On You Crazy Diamond on Delicate Sound Of Thunder.
|
Which one? I've seen The Wall and DSOTM laser shows. A couple friends of mine have also seen the Best of Pink Floyd laser show and a Jimi Hendrix vs. Pink Foyd laser show.
Only The Wall, unfortunatly. By the time I heard about the laser shows (they were playing in a different city) we only had time to go to the last two shows, The Wall and the Metallica one. They were pretty good, except they played Sad But True for Metallica  |
I've said it before, and I'll say it again. Everyone needs to listen to Shine On You Crazy Diamond on Delicate Sound Of Thunder.
I don't have Delicate Sound of Thunder... :frown: But, I have PULSE, and Shine On You Crazy Diamond from that album is pretty awesome. |
Right, and how much of their other material have you heard?
I've heard some of their other stuff. |

Pulse > Delicate Sound of Thunder |
i have every pink floyd album
(no one cares, i know) |
Pulse > Delicate Sound of Thunder
I disagree once again. But then again, I don't have the DVD/video of either, so I cannot comment on stage presence. |

Pulse has Dark Side of the Moon all the way through, more songs, better played(IMO), and no mullets :D Delicate Sound of thunder is also missing something else, I just dont know what... |
No mullets?!? Well, that just put it down in my opinion. :p
Yeah, but I love the version of Comfortably Numb and also Wish You Were Here off of Delicate Sound Of Thunder. That's why it is my favourite. I must admit Pulse is a lot better when it comes to variety of songs. *promises to pick up a copy off the video* |
I also think Comfortably Numb is superior on Pulse :D

Hi all
I've noticed that Pink Floyd is a really popular band. I just don't quite understand them... I've heard Run Like Hell, Another Brick in the Wall, and Wish You Were Here. I've noticed a lot of bits where there's hardly any music except some faint guitar in the background. Other bits where there's some nice chord work and thats about it. Then they put in some strange sound effects like the 'If you don't eat ur meat you can't have any pudding'. They have the odd riff which catches your attention despite being faint, but then fades away. Is there something I'm missing here? Can some1 explain what they think is so good about Pink Floyd? (btw, this post is not intended to be bagging out Pink Floyd or their fans. I dun reckon there's anything wrong with them. Just want to know what you think). |
Pink Floyd are a concept band on a lot of their songs.
|
What is good about Pink Floyd is their unique sound.
|
Gilmour owns. Hey you is one of my all time favorite songs.
|
You should probably hear more than 3 songs before you make a conclusion about the band. They have a lot of "down time" in their music sometimes but not all the time. I guess you have to get used to it.
