Iron Bug 07-05-2005 06:05 AM

I like the old Alk3 stuff, but the new album bores me.

Twat_Out_Of_Hell 07-05-2005 06:29 AM

Mercy Me is an amazing song, but i've heard way way better from them than most of the album

blackcoffee 07-05-2005 06:36 AM

the 1st album is still their best, i've seen them live 3 times and they were brilliant 2 of the times. the other time was at the carling festival and they don't suit playing outdoors.

mercy me is a brilliant song, reminds me of the maybe i'll catch fire album. best song on the new album then probably time to waste... but it's not that great an album.

yesterday i got stopped by an 8 year old girl ned* 'cause she saw i was wearing an alkaline trio t-shirt to tell me she bought their new album. disgraceful.

* to all americans out there a ned in scotland is about the equivelant of a red neck, i suppose. except they take ecstacy and listen to pumping dance music, not forgetting wearing the classic burberry caps, scarves and what ever else their little burberry hands can get a hold of and their also almost always pergnant by 13

Drum Boy 07-05-2005 06:47 AM

Why is that disgarceful?

Isn't that good that she likes that music?

HitHardDrums55 07-05-2005 08:24 AM

alkaline trio has followings from more than one group of people when i saw them there were so many lesbians there...the ones i was around were cool but there were some fat ones i saw playing with each other a little further back before the show started, but one got mad cus i was like all over her butt when they were playing it was kinda funny...dont think i say any gay doods but i couldnt tell, there were people from lots of different cultures...so its not really disgraceful at all except that fact that shes 8...but still thats just odd, not disgraceful

Twat_Out_Of_Hell 07-05-2005 08:40 AM

what the hell are you on about?

Ganondorf 07-05-2005 08:47 AM

Surtr 07-05-2005 09:12 AM

I haven't heard any Alkaline Trio before, so could someone reccomend me a good song? I'll get my friend to download and send it to me.

Twat_Out_Of_Hell 07-05-2005 09:16 AM

Private eye
Stupid Kid
Cop
San Francisco
Mercy Me
Take Lots With Alcohol
Continental
etc etc

there's a lot of good stuff by them, they are a band that has consistently high quality releases.

There's some stuff just put up in the YSI thread, and some that's currently being put up, i recommend you check it out

Surtr 07-05-2005 09:19 AM

Ok, will do.

Angry Balled Fists! 07-05-2005 10:05 AM

Best song on the new album is WITHOUT A DOUBT Back to hell

Surtr 07-05-2005 10:08 AM

Not bad, I got the song We Can Never Break Up, and it's pretty awesome. I'll check out another few songs later then think about getting an album.

CrimbleVan 07-05-2005 10:08 AM

I completely agree with you! When I first got Crimson and I heard this it was the only track that I instantly gave me the urge to hit the repeat button on the first time through

HitHardDrums55 07-05-2005 10:35 AM

their really fast songs are usually good

Surtr 07-05-2005 10:38 AM

Name a good Alkaline Trio album, I'm going to Halifax this weekend so I spose I'll get a couple of good CD's while I'm there. Stupid ****ty PEI with it's bad CD stores.

CrimbleVan 07-05-2005 10:39 AM

Good Mourning is pretty good, picked it up at their show about 2 weeks ago

Surtr 07-05-2005 10:44 AM

Aye, any other suggestions?

HitHardDrums55 07-05-2005 10:45 AM

DO NOT get good mourning for your first alk3 album...
for a first: Maybe I'll Catch Fire
then get God****it, then From Here To Infirmary, then Good Mourning and Crimson..but MICF will probably get you the best feel of their general sound and style

Twat_Out_Of_Hell 07-05-2005 10:46 AM

I think From Here To Infirmary and Good Mourning Are Regarded as their best two, i couldn't say which is prefered overall.

I like FHTI better, i think it's got some better songs on, although Good Mourning is also very good.

Bad Blood 07-05-2005 11:08 AM
Aye, any other suggestions?
I'd say to get Crimson, good mourning or From here to infirmary.
These are the three albums that stand out to me, although all of their albums are awesome. You can't go wrong whatever you decide to buy.

Firecracker 07-05-2005 12:48 PM

We listened to the whole of Crimson today in art, and no one complained ONCE.
Which was highly unusual, because normally all the chavs complain about it when me or my friends put cds on and not the radio, but today no one complained, maybe because they liked it, i don't blame them, so good.

Why the hell not ?

Get GOOD MOURNING

Their best album....

Firecracker 07-05-2005 12:52 PM

I second that Dan.

Angry Balled Fists! 07-05-2005 12:53 PM

Wahey :h5:

I listened to Crimson today while doing my Art work, it is really good.

Firecracker 07-05-2005 12:54 PM

:h5:

Your Art work or Crimson? :p

Angry Balled Fists! 07-05-2005 12:55 PM

Actaully both, ha, part of it was drawing the cover...

It's a great shading picture to draw..

Firecracker 07-05-2005 12:57 PM

Haha, nice. I like drawing album covers, but i haven't drawn that one yet.
But yeah, looking at it, might be a good one, as there's all that background.
Good show.

Angry Balled Fists! 07-05-2005 01:02 PM

I'm doing an observed study of loads of Cd's stacked up in a wierd way and then there is crimson open at the top...

MattSharpIsCool 07-05-2005 02:38 PM
Dan never sings enough in my opinion, I think his songs are amazing, Smoke is an awesome song to end the album. There is a bass solo in Sadie, it's not very complex but sounds great, it's when that woman is saying the quote thing. Not exactly a solo but still...
Oh, I was thinking it would be an actual solo, so I was kinda bummed when I listened to the song and there was no solo. And ya, I wouldnt really call that a solo, its just the normal bassline with a couple modifications to it.

Firecracker 07-05-2005 02:41 PM

Still sounds great in my opinion.
