I barely get any damage on rosewood. Maple will be fine.

I hope to get one too. Im guessing if u want that punch that your not using flat wounds? Roundwounds will pretty much murder your fretboard after a while.

Is maple softer than rosewood?

I think I'm gonna defret my 4 string Ibanez, I never play it anymore now that I have my 6.
I will definately play it if it is fretless.

Harder word = brighter sound (generally).

Maple is harder then rosewood, contrary to popular belief.

Im defretting my samick 4. If it wasnt my first bass id prolly smash it on stage, because it sucks big time.

Instead im gunna mod it and hope it turns out half decent.

wow. I guess the lighter wood just made me think softer. Oak and other hardwoods are usually darker.

I learned everything I know about woods from Warmoth and other sites. I recall the Marcus Miller thread. I also remember edge, FUNKNBASS, and some others were really confused about what people were saying.

Yeah, im going to save up for a fretless p-bass with maple fretboard. Now... to go 5 string or not... nope. Fender 5 stringers are horrible in my experience
