Why oh why am i listenin to +44?

I dislike my kit. The sizes, finish, heads, and hardware...

Refinish your kit.....then get new heads and hardware. As for sizes, what do you dislike about them?

Check out my refinish job...I've just done it (the logos and bevel edge etc are still tapped up hehe.) The pics aren't great as they were taken on my phone. Although the pics don't show it, its really bought the grain out through the orangey red colour which also looks a little brighter. The bottom, darker end of the fade looks better too. Before it was near solid black but now the grain is visible in a deep rose colour *drools*
Will post more pics when its done.......hopefully those ones will show the finish in all its true beauty but for now:

Thats not paint in the picture, its spray lacquer! You can't see but the screw is taped up. The drum is Sonor 2005 full birch kit btw.

:lol: It actually does look the same colour as the ketchup in the pic but in reality its alot deeper red. Damn phone quality and its hate for non-natural light situations :mad: :lol:

I can't wait to put the hardware on tomorrow! I can't refinish the snare yet as I need to use it for a gig on Saturday and I'm worried that the heads will be completely dead when I put them back on after spraying. Also I'll have the opportunity to pick up new heads in case the other ones loose their life after being de-tuned!

Hmm should be an issue with the heads. Make sure it's dry though, some of that stuff takes a long time. Hardware gets put on with some decent force and edges.

Yeah, it looks and feels totally dry now but I'm gonna leave it overnight just to be on the safe side! Also, I was thinking of greasing up my tuning rods maybe using vaseline...good idea or bad?

Hmm I used something a lil less thick. Some clean/new motor oil would work great. Or any machine/gun oil. It's a good idea though.

One thing all my kits have, that I recomend, is new tunign rods/receivers. I replace them with the DW ones, wich are 32x1 thread pitch vs the 24x1 others are. It's a significant improvement for very little cost.
