At a LAN party a year or so ago I bought a 2 liter of diet cream soda before going, and it was fine when it was cold and fizzy but it tasted like sugary piss when it got warm and flat a few hours later. Worst thing I've ever tasted.

Because I generally have 2 liters by my side so I don't have to keep getting up, then if I run out no big deal I can just grab some smaller ones.

You can either switch to water, which never goes off and still tastes good warm

You can bring along some sort of drinking vessel, be it a cup, mug, stein, yard glass, to your next LAN party. When you get there, pour the desired amount of your 2L bottle of pop/soda/soft drink/fizzy drink/candy water into the drinking vessel, then place the remainder (in the bottle, remember) in the mini-fridge with the plexiglass front that you keep canned beverages in.
