The Canadian economy is relatively strong in resources, we're just tools who gave most of them to the US. Our dollar was always higher up until 30 years ago, but at least we're not trillions of dollars in debt, so it balances out.
Ah, I've heard excellent things about that one. I was thinking of buying it, but I might settle with a D40, since I'm a little short on cash right now, and it's more user friendly.

It sounds like it's about the same price as here in Sweden. Stuff usually is more expensive here, so that's a little surprising.
It just depends on what you need. I needed one a little better than the D40 without entering D200/300 territory, because I'm in a Journalism program and while I'm not planning on entering photojournalism, a solid camera is a must. Plus I love photography and school finally gave me an excuse to buy this beast.

TojesDolan 09-25-2007 04:52 PM

I never have chances to buy beasts. :(

I have to build beasts!

=(

I just need it to take photos for fun when I'm at field trips and at home, so a D40 might be the best for me. Nothing too fancy, but still better than a compact camera.

Tyler 09-25-2007 04:53 PM

Tojes, you are a beast

Yeah for sure, it'll cut it easily.

Tyr 09-25-2007 05:07 PM
Yeah for sure, it'll cut it easily.
Alrighty, then. I'll look into a D40. Thanks, Tyler.

IT's also worth looking into Canon's, but I prefer Nikon's personally. They're heavier.

Plus Canons are so small. I've got shovels for hands.

Tyler 09-25-2007 05:10 PM

Well, the D40 is relatively small for a DSLR. Either way you should always hold a camera before you buy anyways.

Tyr 09-25-2007 05:14 PM

Definitely. It's just that Canons cheapest EOS (can't remember the model's name right now) is even smaller.

Kage 09-25-2007 05:16 PM

Yeah, true.

Riva 09-25-2007 05:33 PM

This is no joke but a call to *BAN* dihydrogen monoxide, otherwise know as the invisible, killer substance. For your information, dihydrogen monoxide (DHMO) is colorless, odorless, tasteless, and kills thousands of people every year. Most of these deaths are caused by accidental inhalation of DHMO in its liquid form, but the dangers of dihydrogen monoxide do not end there. Prolonged exposure to its solid form causes tissue damage and contact with its gaseous form causes burns. DHMO use is widespread. For those who have become dependent on it, DHMO withdrawal means death.

DHMO can be an environmental hazard: it is a major component of acid rain, contributes to the "greenhouse effect", leads to the erosion of natural landscapes and hastens the corrosion of most metals. Being so prevalent (quantities are found in every stream, lake and reservoir), DHMO contamination is at epidemic proportions. Despite the dangers, DHMO is often used as an industrial solvent, as a fire retardant, in nuclear power plants and (can you believe this) in certain food products. Companies dump waste dihydrogen monoxide into rivers and the ocean, and nothing can be done to stop them because this practice is still legal.

STOP THE HORROR NOW! The American government and the United Nations have refused to ban the production, distribution or use of this chemical due to its "economic importance." The navy and certain other military organizations are highly dependent on DHMO for various purposes. Military facilities receive tons of it through a sophisticated underground distribution network. It is also stored in large quantities for military emergencies.

BUT IT'S NOT TOO LATE! You can help. Act *NOW* to prevent further contamination. Write your representatives. Start and sign petitions. Send e-mails. Inform your friends about the dangers. What you don't know *CAN* hurt you and every individual throughout the world.

I got an 8th of shrooms! I've never tripped before. I'm actually kinda freaked out, I have no idea what to expect. I hope I don't jump off a building or some stupid shit like that.

Kage 09-25-2007 05:58 PM

How much did you pay for that?

Skyler 09-25-2007 06:00 PM

So apparently the 4th season of House starts tonight. I had no idea, so I'm pretty stoked.

Deth 09-25-2007 06:01 PM

Just watch any other House episode and you'll know what happens tonight.

Skyler 09-25-2007 06:03 PM

someone gets sick and house cures them while making witty remarks probably
Just watch any other House episode and you'll know what happens tonight.
Not really. You haven't watched it much passed the like, second season have you?

My advice: eating an entire 8th your first time = rough time

Deth 09-25-2007 06:06 PM

I've seen maybe a dozen episodes and they all follow the same formula. I don't dislike the show, but I don't really enjoy it because it's so predictable.

The subplots usually suck as well.

Skyler 09-25-2007 06:07 PM

I don't really care about the plot, it's the interactions between the characters that make it interesting for me.

Ah. Well, I like the fact that they added more of a story to it as the the show progressed.

I enjoy the show, anyway.

Anyone watch Supernatural?

Moon Flavor 09-25-2007 06:14 PM
My advice: eating an entire 8th your first time = rough time
Agreed. Have only a half 1/8 and then if you're not feeling it after an hour+ have the rest.

Although more importantly, there's 2 things you should remember while on them:
1) If you expect to have a bad trip, you'll have a bad trip.
2) It WILL end. Even if you trick yourself into thinking that it's somehow made you crazy and you'll never be normal again, rest assured, you will be normal again.
Is Zooey Deschanel in Weeds, or did someone lie to me?
4 episodes. The last 3 of the second season, and the first one of the 3rd. Or 2 and 2 I forget.

I had no idea, and then her character came on and I was like O.O

And regardless of her involvement, it's awesome anyway. Mary-Louise Parker is spectacular, plus she's cute as hell.

Tyler 09-25-2007 07:34 PM

She's great in Weeds, too, I finally saw what Elim sees.

Eliminator 09-25-2007 07:35 PM

its hard to picture stalk her when i have all of them saved on my computer

publicastration 09-25-2007 07:35 PM

Sees about what?

EDIT:

Oh, he's a Deschanel fanboy :p

I love her as well even though I've seen barely any of her work.

Kage 09-25-2007 07:41 PM

Nah, it's cool. I dig it a lot. Elim's got a lil' crush.
