Please do not bring Metallica up here. They're both great bands, and we don't need any more arguments.
here-here.

clairvoyant 03-22-2006 01:26 PM
Dave Mustain is a metal god and i doubt that he would be a sell out and go all commercial and write music that bad
???

Anyways, see Risk.

Rattlehead 03-22-2006 01:44 PM

yeah, but at least Deth didn't "trail off" to Risk. they're back on track with great albums like CTE and SOD. i hope Metallica redeem themselves and follow suit. risk is the only album i haven't got because i saw the ratings it got on cduniverse. could anyone else tell me what they think of it?

Lord Abortion 03-22-2006 01:47 PM

SOD?

And CTE was before risk.

Aw3someman 03-22-2006 01:51 PM

Sympony of Destruction wasn't an album if that's what ur thinking
it was on CTE and yes that was b4 risk. The new one is TSHF

Rattlehead 03-22-2006 02:06 PM

sorry, mixed up, meant to put the system has failed.

but u see what i mean, they obviously havn't lost it

Shred Danson 03-22-2006 02:09 PM
Anyways, see Risk.
 or better yet, don't.

Rattlehead 03-22-2006 02:20 PM

is it that bad?

Shred Danson 03-22-2006 02:27 PM

it's not that it's bad, but it's just....I don't know, it just isn't Megadeth. More of an alternative album.

Rattlehead 03-22-2006 03:02 PM

worth getting?

superflyjojo 03-22-2006 03:30 PM

No, not worth getting. It sounds nothing like anything else megadeth has put out. They rarely ever play anything off Risk live because most Deth fans hate the album.

RoCKinG STANTON 03-22-2006 04:01 PM

can anyone request certain songs of Megadeth? (it would be appreciated)

Rattlehead 03-22-2006 04:04 PM

you mean any suggestions?

RoCKinG STANTON 03-22-2006 04:08 PM

yeah preferbaly

Rattlehead 03-22-2006 04:22 PM

ill give you some album names....
Rust In Peace(thrashy)
Cryptic Writings(less thrashy)
Killing is My Bussiness(if you like R.I.P.)
Peace Sells...But Who's Buying(iconic)
The System has Failed/Countdown to Extinction(two equally godly albums)

iconic songs are as follows(my idea of iconic Deth)
Holy Wars... the Punishment Due
Looking Down The Cross
Back In The Day
Peace Sells
The Disintegrators
Trust
High Speed Dirt
Psychotron

thats all i could think of right now

...please add ppl, i know ive missed out a few, but i cant be assed to list many more.

Looking Down the Cross has been my favorite Megadeth song for a while now too.

Chu 03-22-2006 10:09 PM

I swear Looking Down The Cross has the same 'breakdown' riff as Metallica's Ride The Lightning.

I have, I think the remastered version of this song (I downloaded the album individually, so I could have songs from different versions), where his vocals are actually pretty good. It is also one of my favourite Megadeth songs (Although, I still think the whole album So far, So Good, So What... is Megadeth's best).

I'm listening to that song right now. I'll have to listen to RTL right after to compare.

I'm not a huge fan of So Far, So Good, So What...

EDIT: Okay so I'm at the slow breakdowny part around 2:40 of RTL and I really don't see similarity, I'm waiting for it to continue on.

Chu 03-22-2006 10:16 PM
I'm not a huge fan of So Far, So Good, So What...
You just haven't listened to it enough.

Bazarov 03-22-2006 10:17 PM
You just haven't listened to it enough.
This is actually true, I've only listened to it fully through twice.

Okay, so RTL is basically over, I couldn't hear similarity.

Chu 03-22-2006 10:20 PM

I think it might only be me who sees the similarity, because I posted here before, i think, and people told me to GTFO :p

You really should listen to it more... Liar was the first song from the album that got me really hooked, and then Mary Jane (Probably my favourite Megadeth song at the moment, being a fairly heavy Marijuana user, I dunno, I just really like this song (Maybe I relate to it?)..)

Edit: At about 3:55 in Looking Down The Cross, I reckon there's a similarity, but I don't know, maybe I just want there to be?

Bazarov 03-22-2006 10:25 PM

I'm bored, I'll re-listen to the songs. Then I guess tonight I'll listen to SFSGSW again. I remember really likeing In My Darkest Hour.

Chu 03-22-2006 10:31 PM

There's so many quality songs on the album :chug:

Jev 03-23-2006 02:00 AM
I swear Looking Down The Cross has the same 'breakdown' riff as Metallica's Ride The Lightning.
It does, because Dave wrote that part of Ride The Lightning and wanted to use it.

Rattlehead 03-23-2006 02:41 AM
You just haven't listened to it enough.
SFSGSW isnt as good as the other albums, but ive learned to enjoy it. into the lungs of hell is a great instrumental.

Jev 03-23-2006 04:15 AM

I think Into the Lungs of Hell is underrated, it kicks ass.

Apocalyptic Raids 03-23-2006 04:50 AM

SFSGSW really takes time to appreciate. I never used to like it much either.

Chu 03-23-2006 05:48 AM
It does, because Dave wrote that part of Ride The Lightning and wanted to use it.
I've always thought that :p

Edit: I mean, it's just so damn good, you'd be a fool not to use it yourself.

it sure does, and yeah loads of people told me how "crap" Into The Lungs was, but i listened to it for myself and really enjoyed it

Rattlehead 03-23-2006 02:18 PM

does anyone know anything about a new Deth album then??

Jev 03-23-2006 02:20 PM

Well, we've heard no news but there should be one soon.

Rattlehead 03-23-2006 02:55 PM

good-good. :thumb:
