Firewind postin a new song on their myspace sometime tomorrow or anyone interested
woot :)

I am starting to like them a lot.

Mother 02-01-2008 03:55 PM

Cool, I go check it out. I like them

Mother 02-01-2008 04:07 PM

Was the new song mercenary man?

It was alright, its such a pop tune but like most of their stuff I feel... haah if you changed the instruments and made shania twain sing it, it would be just that.

also that chic in the Breaking the silence video is hot.

Grumma 02-01-2008 08:49 PM

yeah Mercenary Man is it.
and i shall go watch that video now :p

Evoke 02-01-2008 10:23 PM

Any Kamelot fans here?

Deth 02-01-2008 10:26 PM

*raises hand*

jrowa001 02-01-2008 10:30 PM

Kamelot are great. too bad their last album had one great song in the beginning, then a bunch of mediocre-to-bad songs on it. Black Halo is my favorite of theirs. i still need Karma

anybody heard of Stormwarrior? pretty fun speed/power metal band. their new album Heading Northe is pretty sweet

Poet 02-01-2008 10:50 PM

Kamelot is easily my second favorite power metal band (behind Lost Horizon). I quite liked Ghost Opera though, especially The Human Stain.

Karma is awesome jrowa001. I still need to hear the rest of The Fourth Legacy. Only have head The Fourth Legacy and Alexandria.

ZapatoDiablo 02-01-2008 10:52 PM

I thought Ghost Opera was pretty lame. I want to see them live, Roy Khan sounds great on their DVD.

It wasn't better than Karma, Epica, or The Black Halo, but it was pretty respectable in my eyes. I also completely agree with that statement about Khan. He is amazing.

Angmar 02-02-2008 12:08 AM

I should get Karma soon.

pate 02-02-2008 09:38 AM

Kamelot's one of my favorite power bands.

Riva 02-02-2008 09:42 AM

Kamelot are one of those bands that I enjoy when I listen to them, but I never feel an urge to put them on.

Tyr 02-02-2008 09:59 AM

Kamelot is one my favourite power metal bands, along with Rhapsody, Therion and Gamma Ray.

They were absolutely fantastic live. I grabbed a setlist from their backup singer after she gave me a high five.

NemesisDivina 02-02-2008 02:02 PM

I was gonna listen to Kamelot the other day because I was singing along to The Black Halo out of nowhere, but then I didn't. That's my power metal story for the week.

jrowa001 02-02-2008 03:14 PM

and an epic one it was.

i got some Falconer but i havent listened to it yet. i have some hopes for good power metal. anybody like them?

pate 02-02-2008 04:53 PM

Falconer is amazing.

jrowa001 02-02-2008 05:09 PM

sweet, i like you taste in power metal (from what i have seen on RYM). i actually considered getting some of their albums cuz i noticed the high ratings you gave them

Poet 02-02-2008 05:24 PM

I never really liked them.

Surtr 02-02-2008 05:27 PM

They've put out some good stuff, but on their albums I find there are either really good or really weak tracks, no in between. And its usually split 50/50.

Haha, cool. Make sure you check out Lord and Dungeon if you haven't.

jrowa001 02-02-2008 06:23 PM

thanks Pate, ill look into them

Grumma 02-02-2008 06:47 PM

Lord and Dungeon are great.

In fact, just check out anything and everything Lord Tim is involved with.
LORD, Dungeon, Ilium.

He also has a smallish label which would be worth a look too (currently looking into it myself)

Grumma 02-02-2008 07:20 PM

As you can tell I'm pretty bored - but I've been myspacing it looking for Australian power metal-esque bands

http://www.myspace.com/sedition2006 bit more of a darker, atmospheric sound to them
http://www.myspace.com/blackmajesty they're supporting Helloween with LORD
http://www.myspace.com/blacksteelaustralia bit more traditional metal sounding
http://www.myspace.com/taberahmetal pretty similar to LORD/Dungeon

Poet 02-02-2008 07:30 PM

Kamelot's Abandoned is just amazing

So I am pretty sure I have been on a Dragonforce and Kamelot binge the past two days.

1338 h4x0r 02-02-2008 10:41 PM

Holy Martyr from Italy appear to be pretty good.

Poet 02-02-2008 10:53 PM

eh, they sounded mediocre to me. Most power metal does. The best power metal bands though smack that sense back into me on why it's my favorite genre.

Lost Horizon
Kamelot
Blind Guardian
Sonata Arctica
Dragonforce (pre-Inhuman Rampage...which was still decent)
Nightwish (pre-Century Child when they were power metal)
Rhapsody OF FIRE!!!!!

Those are the best power metal bands in my eyes.

Have you considered any Latin American acts? Rata Blanca is baller.

Steerpike 02-03-2008 12:05 AM

No love for Slough Feg, sadly.

FatalEnergy 02-03-2008 12:18 AM

I'm going to try out for Iced Earth just for the hell of it.

Tyler 02-03-2008 12:19 AM

You should rape some bitches for practise

No...but I've done Angra for South America, that is close enough, lol.

Since I use youtube most of the time to hear new music, I am going to listen to almost everything this one user has. He has posted like all of Therion's work, Avantasia, Stratovarius, and Angra. I'll be busy for a while.

I could never ever get into this band. It's sad, really...
