Today we got out of school at noon, and we have a five day weekend coming up. For no real reason, either -- teachers' conventions for public schools or something. It is so sweet.

I love it when teachers go on strike.

Unfortunately the government caved in about a month ago and they won't be any more strikes for a while. :upset:

there was supposed to be a strike last spring but the boards pussied out and made some deal and now we have to wait like another year before the teachers start bitching again and it will be sweetgoodtimebunchesoffun

Our teachers here always say they'll go on strike but then they just give in and go to work.

The teachers here are some of the lowest paid teachers in the country and they've never went on strike that I know of.

Then they're pushovers!

You guys should ask your teachers why they wanna strike, and then organise the students to strike in solidarity with the teachers. The School Board can always find subs to teach during the week of the teacher's strike (or however long it is), but they have to give in if both the students AND the teachers are striking. Plus "Experience in labour rights and benefits negotiation" is a pretty cool thing to have on your CV.

Isn't striking for higher pay anti anarchy because that's capitalism?
