Talos 12-14-2006 12:21 PM

Win A Rabbit 12-14-2006 01:17 PM

I've been thinking about going to post-secondary for a while now. I'd like to go for Psychology, as it's almost a requirement for working in the places I'd like to work at, but I'm not sure if psychology is my thing. I called my old high school counsellor yesterday to see if I could get a psychology take-home module. It's a whole year's worth of material, designed for people in high school to take it during a spare or at home. I told her it wouldn't be for credit or anything, since I already graduated, but she didn't know if she could give it to me, as she's never been asked that before.

My parents have a bunch of money stored away for education, and it can only be used for education by someone in our family (some government program). I was waiting to see how my brother would do in high school, but he's down in the high 50's, low 60's, so now my parents are giving me more "encouragement" to go to school.

Talos 12-14-2006 01:24 PM

^ Its because im not living up to my full potential, but this is due to my teachers not letting me play the kit and I only play a bit of guitar. So I dont have much chance :(

the_pure_drummer 12-14-2006 01:27 PM

Im torn between taking my options in a few months!

Mainly between PE and music!

I play for Wales rugby leauge, South wales rugby union, Caerphilly (my town) and my school.

But as you know i love to play drums also and id love to get some gcse's in music also, but i have to choose between the two!!!!

Janeway 12-14-2006 01:30 PM

Take music, the pe is just theory..... Basically everything you learn about the human body in biology hammered into you twice. And you'll get much further in life with a music qualification than a PE one.

The Best GCSE's to take are the applied ICT and Resistant Materials ones. Those will take you very far in the way of jobs.

Janeway 12-14-2006 01:40 PM

I'm confused by the UK school system.

PE is just gym.

And wtf is a GCSE?

maniac0796 12-14-2006 01:47 PM

general something or other

They're basically the most important exams you'll take in your life...

We have 4 types of exam, Sats, Cats, GCSE's, and A levels.

Sats is what you do through primary school and half of secondary school. In reality, they don't count for ****, but they sort the smart from the retards. Cat's are weird tests, i don't understand the point. I think they just test logic and stuff, see what level your brain performs at. GCSE's are the important ones. They are a 2 year course, and you usually have coursework, and exams. A level is what you 2 after GCSE's, and is either a 1 year or 2 year course, depending on how much you like the subject.

And the order of our schools goes:
Primary school - 5-11
Secondary school - 11-16
College/Sixform - 16- any age
Univeristy - 16 - any age.

White 12-14-2006 02:10 PM

Anyone have aim here? if so add me, White2112

Janeway 12-14-2006 02:16 PM

GCSE. Puh.

I think I might write horror. I'm pretty good at it. Like, when I try.

Well, I'm good at outlining a basic torture scene. When I take the time to flesh it out and make the words flow, it's pretty good. I think I could be published eventually if I would focus more time on creative writing.
