You can't preposterously "claim" that you "acknowledge" something without actually excercising it. It's words with no meaning.
Other religions were also explicitely granted "freedom from persecution".
Holidays from work are based more on a factor of how many people acknowledge these things. I guarentee if a Asatrar supermarket worker asked off in advance for the Summer Solstice for religious reasons, they would. In fact, I might have a good friend who did this! |
How aren't they exercising it? Not giving people the day off isn't barring them from practising the "religion".
Oh, but the Christian would argue otherwise. Besides, barring a soldier's family from putting a pentacle on his grave is. |
holidays are based more around the free-market system than anything at this point. the fact that days off co-incide with christian holidays is a result of, as i said, it being founded as a christian nation.
Oh, but the Christian would argue otherwise..
What? You can't keep pigeonholing religions and their followers and expect me to take you seriously. |
Note that I'm the only Christian currently posting in this thread, and yet I'm not persecuting you?!
In fact, if anything, you're inadvertantly persecuting me. Stop ****ing pidgeonholing every ****ing person in one of the world's largest religions based on a ****ing minority group, I'm getting really sick of it. edit: lol Tyler we both said pidgeonholing /h5 |
This is one of the most non-coherent arguments I have ever tried to follow....

That's because Axl's point changes every time he makes a post. Which is why I said like three pages back that this is futile and unrelated to black metal. |
How many Christians would throw a hissyfit if they were denied putting a cross on the family member's headstone?
How many Christians would throw a hissy if they weren't able to take Christmas off based purely on the fact that thier employer didn't recognize it as a holiday, and then got fired for protesting? The world would be in chaos. It's a two-way street, buddy. |
Hint: if you want to put non-Christian symbols on your gravestone, make sure you make an issue of being buried in a non-Christian cemetery!
|
Too bad I don't give a **** about any religious bitching... all religious people that complain about their religion and the hang-ups that come with it need to shut it. You're not born with your religion, when you chose a religion you should acknowledge the social significance of it as well...
|
How many Christians would throw a hissyfit if they were denied putting a cross on the family member's headstone?
Was it a Christian graveyard? Can't fault a religion for the taboos its followers create. You could put a swastika on your grave and people would protest it.
How many Christian's would throw a hissy if they weren't able to take Christmas off based purely on the fact that thier employer didn't recognize it as a holiday, and then got fired for protesting?
But see Christmas is a Civic holiday, not just a religious one. SO that's moot.
The world would be in chaos.
No it wouldn.t |

Summary and tie-in: Non-Christians come under just as much, if not more fire than Christians do. Non-Christians have just as much justification for retailiation as anyone else. Tie-in: 90% of black metal lyrics have to do with this retaliation, in one way or another. |
Axlcondemned
Please stop persecuting me for my beliefs. Thank you. |
Tie-out: This is not a philosophy discussion thread.
|
Mappy: If I were persecuting you specifically for your beliefs, I would be attacking you personally.
However, I'm not, I'm discussing my issues with the ideology, so stop complaining. Tojes, this discussion has everything to do with black metal. However, I'm tired, so I will leave with a goodnight all. |
Don't put religion on the same level as philosophy, that's taking a **** on Socrates, Plato, Shoppenhauer, Nietzsche, etc.

123
And, once again: http://www.sputnikmusic.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=61 If you're so keen on talking religion and so keen on making asses of yourselves, at least do it in a place where you can discuss it more appropriately, rather than ****ing up this thread with some **** you learned on CNN. Nobody cares, seriously. I know you're a Pagan or whatever. But leave the religious discussion for a forum more suited. That, or, I dont know, learn the subject matter. See, like this. This just makes fun of itself. Take it to PWNI

Don't put religion on the same level as philosophy, that's taking a **** on Socrates, Plato, Shoppenhauer, Nietzsche, etc.
Hate to break it to you but religion is philosophy. That's a really offensive statement to make. Dont undermind ideas just because you're not a fan of faith. |
However, when you repeatedly say, "Christians," as apposed to, "superstitious country bumpkins," it offends me.
I think I'll write something to retaliate to this! |
wtf, this is like saying to acknowledge the big bang theory i have to blow myself up
LMFAO! |

It's a philosophical and moral stance towards life. And your choice of philosophers was very, very mainstream. |
Least kvlt philosophical views ever.
|
and theology is an important part of existentialism. see: Kierkegaard
|
This is not a philosophy discussion thread.
I believe that means you as well, Tojes....though I can't say I don't miss you as our resident rebel mod... |
Theism is very much at odds with existentialism, Kierkegaard was an idiot.
Basing a philosophy on man existing before his essence does not work with creator. |
By the same reasoning, why am I at fault for having the perceptions I do of Christians? Again, more crimes have been committed in the name of Yahveh and Allah than have been committed in the name of all other ideologies combined.
I doubt that, Stalin was an atheist, for example.
Tell that to the Christians and governments who continually campaign against "inferior" and "evil" people such as Pagans and black metal artists/fans.
Actually, even fairly conservative Christians don't do much more than exercise their mouths, and I haven't seen it directed at Pagans at all.
I stopped reading after this. LOL. Is this serious? Is "Paganism" seriously acknowledged as "a religion"? Oh man. Oh man oh man.
Why wouldn't it be? Unless you are meaning that it shouldn't be because the very term is more of a general one and technically not a religion?
The Polish government apparently wants no part of that.
But that's Poland and you don't live there. That is a governmental issue and not a religious one.
It's a Christian nation, like it or not. Some injustices are to be expected. I'm not saying I support it, but you're acting like it's at all relevant.
Actually I disagree. No nation should be considered "Christian" merely because the majority of the population is. No more than a room full of black people would become a "black room".
I'm a practising pagan.
Are you really? |
I don't think anyone won this argument, since the majority are retarded enough to spend almost 12 or so pages discussing it with Bra.
|
Do I need to whip founding father quotes ITT? We are a secular nation, with a Christian majority.
