Generic? Maybe now, but at the time i'm sure it was reasonably fresh sounding.
|
Heaven and Hell is one of my 5 favorite Sabbath songs.
What is everyone's favorite Tony Martin album? Mine is Tyr easily, followed by probably Headless Cross. |
So what album's don't you have brew?
Seventh Star Cross Purposes Cross Purposes Live Forbidden The thing is though, due to every other Sabbath album I own (except for Paranoid, TYR and Dehumanizer) coming from vinyl, I'd quite like to someday have them all on cd in fancy remastered form. If I really wanted to be tr00 Sabbath collector I'd buy all the compilation albums they've released..but I really can't be bothered. |
All the comps are annoying.
|
I agree. You might as well buy the first three albums, that pretty much covers you for the majority of compilations.
Mob Rules is so underrated.
I think all the non Ozzy albums were very, very underrated compared to the Ozzy ones. Tony Iommi was my main influence on playing guitar, as sabbath as been my favorite band for a long time. |
Tony is at worst my third favorite guitar player. He's just so incredible.
|
I agree but you have to admit some of his extended solo's can get sloppy sometimes.
|
His sloppiness is charming though.
I always think of how awesome he is when I listen to Sabbath but when I'm not, it's like I totally forget about him. It's weird. |
He's actually a bit of an idol of mine  . He wasn't what got me into guitar (that was seeing friends play and thought it looked fun) but I get alot of influence from him in my playing. Also the more obscure stuff he did with Sabbath like the jazzy or bluesy stuff opened my mind to different styles of music.
|
Everything about him is charming though.
When I saw them at Ozzfest 2005, during Dirty Women Ozzy's voice died and he ran off, so without missing a beat the band went straight to the solo section, and stayed with it for seriously like 10 minutes. It was amazing. Then Ozzy came back, and they did Paranoid and left. Shame it was only a 45 minute set, but they were amazing. |
I heard about that, woulda been awesome to see. Do they do Dirty Women at Ozzfest? I always thought it was just Paranoid, Iron Man and War Pigs.
|
...it was a full set, man.
Opener: NIB Rest, out of order: War Pigs Sweet Leaf Iron Man Black Sabbath Snowblind Into the Void Dirty Women Children of the Grave Fairies Wear Boots Paranoid That was like the typical setlist for 2005. At ours, we lost out of Children of the Grave, and another one that I forget. |
Was that Ozzfest or just the Black Sabbath tour? I'm not calling you a liar, just confused is all.
|
Ozzfest
Did I sound hostile? I wasn't intending to be. |
I just got Paranoid yeah!
|
That's the worst of their good period yeah!
|
I dunno, it has its moments. Hand Of Doom, Electric Funeral, Fairies Wear Boots.
Oh and Pate you didn't seem hostile to me I just thought you might have misunderstood where I was going. |
"Hand of Doom" is their best song.
Especially when it goes in that chugging part. DAH NUH DUN DUN DUN DUN DUN DUN DAH NUH NUH DUN DUN DUN DUN DUN DUN |
I found a video of the TYR-era Sabbath playing Die Young live on YouTube, I'm pretty sure its not from the Cross Purposes Live DVD because Tony Martin doesn't sound like he's being buggered by a cold. It starts with an Iommi solo, 'tis good.
|
Yer theres a few on youtube where he doesnt have a cold and there all really good. He pulls off the Dio stuff really well. And he does the Ozzy stuff better than Dio.
|
How do you guys reckon a new album with Ozzy would sound? After all there is rumours of it happening flying around.
|
Ozzy should stick to falling off ATV's, tbqh.
|
I'm more concerned with Heaven and Hell than anything involving Ozzy.
|
Yer I guess but you get to see it, I don't.
