animals is starting to impress.....Me likes it so far

emo=elmow/otheL 08-13-2005 08:20 PM

Animals was the first album I ever listened to. I was in 6th grade at the time and I was obsessed with it. It actually had Meddle on the other side too. But anyway I listened to it so many times my mom got mad and made me listen to something else, because she was tired of hearing it.

Hey, do any of you guys find it kind of sad that kids coming up nowadays and in future years will quite likely never hear stuff like Pink Floyd, Black Sabbath or other classic rock stuff? I mean think about it. These bands that were so original, and had so much talent, and the recognition they get just goes down and down.

Sort of, but I feel it is my role to spread the great music of yesterday to everybody around me. I've already turned 3 of my friends into almost bigger Floyd fans than I am.

In the near future, there probably won't be any more instruments. Everything will just be electronic and virtual. Songs will just be electronic jamboree's of various drum beats with off-key robotic vocals.

/realizes this is probably true :upset:
Personally, I think Echoes is one of Floyd's more average "jam/epic long-*** songs" It's not bad, no, it's good. I just think stuff like SOYCD and Dogs are a little more... I don't know. Echoes just feels too, empty or something. It's a good song to just vibe to (or I'm sure to most Floyd listeners outside this thread, get high to), but others just seem to have more feel in them.
I think "Echoes" is quite possibly my favorite song of all time. It's not "average" by any length IMO. Why would you say outside of this thread? I'm a HUGE Floyd fan and I love to toke up while hearing it. It fits the mood perfectly. Just because we go in this thread it doesn't mean we're more sophisticated or better of a fan of them.

Top 3 Floyd Epics:
-----------------
1. Echoes------------------\
2. Intersteller Overdrive-----/ These 2 often rotate as my favorite song of all music.
3. SOYCD

/me runs away

thunderzstruck 08-13-2005 09:28 PM

I don't know the more I listened to animals, the less is started to impress me. It's a very stripped down album, very raw. I'll listen to it later tonight

Purple Floyd 08-13-2005 09:28 PM

Is Echoes on it?

At least what Era is it?

Riva 08-14-2005 01:23 AM

A medley with Echoes is on Prism. It's a great bootleg, 2 discs.

Scooch 08-14-2005 01:32 AM

I'd say the Atom Heart Mother Suite is the most under rated Floyd song. It is an amazing song that doesn't recieve much mention.

The Taxman 08-14-2005 01:48 AM
Hmm...well where to start...Floyd is amazing. The part in Comfortable Numb that goes "Is there anybody in there?" was kinda eerie the first time I heard the song.
I hate to tell you but both albums are pretty eerie.

Come again? Also, wow on the 2nd post reply. :p
Not to start a fight, but how can you not like Animals?
I always found it a bit boring. I just have trouble getting into it. I enjoy it, just not as much as most other Floyd albums. But, I haven't listened to it in awhile, I'll give it another shot.

I donīt like AHMS, I think itīs kinda boring for a 25 min song. Although Gilmourīs small guitar solo is awesome.

I used to not like Animals so much, but then it really grew on me. Sheep used to be my favorite song, but now its Pigs.

i cant wait to see what this bootleg is
i used to have so many AMAZING bootlegs of the floyd, video and music, but most of them have been lost, and a part of me died ever since.

WheepingGuitar39 08-14-2005 12:19 PM

2: Clapton
3: Frampton

long live David Gilmour.

Purple Floyd 08-14-2005 12:26 PM

1. Gilimour
2. Vai

1. Duane Allman (there goes your assumption)
2. Clapton

I have a lot of favorites, but those 2 are my definite favorites.

Mozza20037 08-14-2005 12:32 PM

i prefer Walters

Flaminghotchino 08-14-2005 12:32 PM

1. Gilmour
2. Hendrix
3. Clapton

Lunch 08-14-2005 01:13 PM

I can't rank them, but Gilmour, Clapton, Allman are probably my top 3.

WheepingGuitar39 08-14-2005 01:29 PM
i prefer Walters
Barbara Walters?

WheepingGuitar39 08-14-2005 01:30 PM

Duane Allman and Eric Clapton are SICK in the Layla Solo

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 08-14-2005 01:38 PM

1. Jeff Beck
2. David Gilmour, Robert Johnson, John McLaughlin
3. Frank Zappa, Allman, Eddie Hazel, Jimi Hendrix
HM: Syd Barrett

Although I don't think Gilmour is the even close to these guys in playing; I think he has one of the (if not the best) best styles I've ever seen. I love Syd's style aswell not as talented as these guys though.

WheepingGuitar39 08-14-2005 01:40 PM

time to upload something

ok, this bootleg is David Gilmour, some time in the past 5 years, with Kate Bush
I have a file which is just the song, which you cant really hear the solo too well
I have another which has better audio, but the video iant too great, but still not bad.
And then I have this file which is called David Gilmour guitar lesson, but it has several songs which are very very close up to his guitar whiel he's playing, even comfortably numb. This file includes the file im gonna upload but just the solo, it also has high hopes, great day for freedom, shine on you crazy diamond, and some others. But it's 300megs so ill upload it another day, because it has a far better quality video of what im uploading now.

For now:
enjoy
.(waiting for upload to finish)

WetNoodle 08-14-2005 01:51 PM

1-Gilmour
2-Vai
3-Johnny Greenwood(maybe not as great as the other 2, but i love his playing style)

Those are my top 3.

*listening to pigs right now*

For some reason, my favorite song off that album is Pigs On The Wing Part One. There's just something about it. When he says "Watching, The pigs on the wing" it makes me feel fuzzy inside :)

WheepingGuitar39 08-14-2005 02:17 PM

for the love of all that is holy
YouSendIt is horribly slow

how long does it take to upload 28megabytes

oh yay
it failed

wel ill have to upload it another time
