I just like the idea of comics in general.
So it seemed like a fun idea to do, and toys are just funny in general.

coheneran 05-31-2006 05:26 PM
It is hard, but I have time and I want to want make a comic. I just can't draw, I' m completly a musican when it comes to art, except dance.

I'm not joking about dance.
I love dancing. I'm not good at technique or pop-group style synchronisation (or moves of any kind), for me it's mostly about losing inhibition and self-consciousness, and then sort of feel your "soul" sway from side to side following your body about an inch behind. Know what I mean?

I'd like to be involved in any comic-making, if that's cool.

Brain Toad 05-31-2006 05:27 PM

You can take some inspiration from this comic: http://legostargalactica.comicgen.com/

One of the best photo comics with toys I've seen.

Thank you, so very much.

coheneran 05-31-2006 05:38 PM

I'm very enthusiastic about this now.

SantaDuJuan 05-31-2006 05:39 PM

Haha I was when I was talking to my bud about it.
We'll probably just go to the toy store with 50 dollers and buy some "characters"

Look through charity shops and thrift stores, they usually have loads of old toys.

Awhile back I was attempting cartooning for the purpose of a journal comic involving my friends. Unfortunately, I cannot cartoon.

My friend however, is great at cartooning, and loves cartooning her friends. She's been doing this since freshman year, and she just keeps getting better. She also had the journal comic idea long before I did, but she never went through with it. Every once and awhile I try to encourage her. I shall try again soon.

Back in middle school I had a webcomic. It was really stupid, and as far as I can tell, I erased every trace of it.

Brain Toad 05-31-2006 05:58 PM

In the words of Jeph Jacques, if you can't draw, learn to, that's what he did.

On the DIY toy front, I'm in the process of preparing my Star Wars collection for a display at a county fair, and part of it is my action figures, in the process of collecting stuff, I found one of my first DIY projects. He was a mini-Darth Maul made from taking two figures, a Darth Maul and young Anakin, popping off Anakin's head and cutting off his hands, then taking a popped off Darth Maul head and sticking it on the Anakin body, plus glueing the gloves to where Anakin's hands were. He's quite awesome looking. I'll try to take pictures if I can find the card reader for the digicam. I meant to do more figures (I have a bunch of parts from stuff I bought at a thrift store), but never came up with anything good.

Yeah, I clicked Random Strip once and I thought I accidentally clicked a link to another comic site, it was completely different. Even then, White Ninja proved you don't need to draw well at all to have an awesome webcomic.

asdf 05-31-2006 06:09 PM

One of my early DIY projects involved making fridge magnets using free ones from Dominos and Magic: The Gathering cards.

How awesome.

coheneran 05-31-2006 06:11 PM

I remember Magic. That was an awesome card game. I probably still have my cards somewhere.

asdf 05-31-2006 06:12 PM

I still have my cards, as does my brother. I barely played the game though. I just really liked the art, and I was just following what my older brother did.

coheneran 05-31-2006 06:14 PM

You should try playing, it's incredibly fun. I spent a lot of rainy days inside my old school playing with my friends, and a lot of sunny days playing outside in my old school too. I had a beast deck, it was awesome.

asdf 05-31-2006 06:15 PM

No, I'm definitely passed Magic, Pokemon, Mage Knights etc. Some of my friends occasionally get out a deck, but not me.

Anarcho Poser 05-31-2006 08:57 PM

Okay, so my shirt is almost done. I've got the heart on the front and the guy on the back, but I haven't put in the flowers yet. I'll post pictures when I'm finished. Also, I was thinking about putting the lyrics

no one ever changed the church by pulling down a steeple
And you'll never change the system by bombing number ten
Systems just aren't made of bricks they're mostly made of people
You may send them into hiding, but they'll be back again

Thoughts?

Brain Toad 05-31-2006 09:27 PM

Here are some pictures of mini-Maul. He's next to a regular sized Darth Maul for comparison.

I don't know, I think those are the worst four lines in that song. How about the chorus? Or, even better, the first few lines on the third verse: "Be exactly who you want to be/Do what you want to do/I am me and she is she but/You're the only you." If you want something religious based, then probably any line from the first verse would do.
