Stoic 07-05-2006 03:53 AM

The self titled album cover in particular is fantastic.

Riva 07-05-2006 03:59 AM

It inspired me to resurrect my old Justicar in Imperian.

Stoic 07-05-2006 04:02 AM

Your what?

Riva 07-05-2006 04:07 AM

A justicar is a paladin of sorts, but they nominally wield two longswords. Imperian is a MUD.

Stoic 07-05-2006 05:00 AM

haha I got it!

Guys, have you downloaded the new Blind Guardian?

Riva 07-05-2006 05:14 AM

Nah. I will be purchasing the new album, probably.

Man, Justicar is an awesome name for a Power Metal band.

Lord Abortion 07-05-2006 05:16 AM
Haha. y0, what's your avatar?
It's the just released artwork for the next Iron Maiden album, A matter of life and death, released in September, being a complete Maiden nut, this has got me in a high state of excitement.

I need to get more Falconer, but out of the two albums I got at the time, and so relate to each other, CFAVF and Human Fortress' Defenders of the crown, I prefer the Human Fortress.

Riva 07-05-2006 05:20 AM

I'd rank the S/T and Sword Of Deception above Chapters From A Vale Forlorn, in terms of both cover art and music.

Stoic 07-05-2006 05:23 AM

Ollie, is it true that this will be Iron Maiden's last album. I think Steve said there will be 15 Iron Maiden albums and then... the end.
Nah. I will be purchasing the new album, probably.

This doesnt mean you cant listen to it before buying it! ...and the name sucks

Lord Abortion 07-05-2006 05:36 AM

Well since this one is the fourteenth, then no, it won't be the last, but according to that, the second-last.
However, Steve has a "well, we'll see" attitude towards that statement. It all may change over the next few years, depending on if he feels they still have something to offer the world.

Josh 07-05-2006 06:40 AM

hopefully they will, if not, they can just keep touring til they die :p
/lols@thought of band onstage with Zimmer Frames

currently, 882 of my 3699 songs on my mp3 player are Power Metal of one sort or another

Apocalyptic Raids 07-05-2006 07:22 AM

Yeah it's pretty cool. I listened to the first 2 songs. First impression it was pretty cool, but the vocals sounded meh. I'de have to listen to it again, I wasn't really paying attention.
To be honest, it's a good thing that these sort of topics are sung about, it certainly encourages me oto learn more about the History of the battles being described.
Perfect example for me is IE's Gettysburg.

Lord Abortion 07-06-2006 03:44 AM

It is believed that Maiden will come to Australia...nothing is for certain yet though, so you folks down the keep 'em peeled.

Apocalyptic Raids 07-06-2006 08:38 AM

that goes for you too, Judas Priest

OrChazzmicExperience 07-07-2006 03:34 PM

http://www.yousendit.com/transfer.php?action=download&ufid=1565CC652F5BBA19

I didn't include solo, becauze I don't even know how to play guitar. Critique welcomed, y0.
Also, it's just MIDI by the way.

You can't threaten Halford. That'd be like the Pope threatening God.

Slapping Penguin 07-08-2006 02:42 AM

to OrChazzmicExperience

I liked it. Its pretty good but now you get to get serious and go record it :D

Hey has anyone here heard Mezarkabul, Not Power Metal just straight up heavy but I like it. Just wondering if anyone else has heard this band.

Mars Volta 07-09-2006 08:45 AM

Could someone explain to me what 'For the Sake of Revenge' is by Sonata Arctica and what are all the different versions?

I know it has a dvd (the main reason I want to buy it) and a cd but what is the cd? From the song names it looks like it doesn't have any new songs, is it a greatest hits?

Also I was in HMV today and I saw it in a cd case with the cd and dvd but I go online and I see lots of different versions like Cd, Dvd, Dvd + Cd, Cd + Dvd. Are all of these the same? I want the version with cd and dvd so don't want to order a version and have just the cd turn up.

Sorry if there's a Sonata Arctica official thread and I didn't post in it, it's just the site is moving so slowly I couldn't get past the first page.

Trev 07-12-2006 10:13 AM

It's a live album. I only have the CD, but I'm fairly certain the DVD in any combination will be the same - the concert in full.

Edit - Edguy, Stratovarius, Nocturnal Rites, Rage, Pyramaze, Ensiferum, Turisas, Atheist, and Bal-Sagoth on Friday. :D :) :D

OrChazzmicExperience 07-12-2006 11:09 AM

^ What?! Is there a concert with all of those bands? :amaze:

Bloodstock i think, not sure though.

Stormrider 07-13-2006 07:41 AM

I have Jag Panzer's Ample Destruction, and I saw on Metal Archives that it's their debut album, and that they have many more albums after that. Is there a really big change in style from the first album on ?

Apocalyptic Raids 07-13-2006 08:00 AM

I am also interested in this.

Ample Destruction is probably my favourite Power Metal album.

Stormrider 07-13-2006 08:42 AM

I wonder if it's like BG where there's a huge difference from the first 2 or 3 albums, to the last 3.

Dissident Alliance is the one you want to avoid, they had a different vocalist and were trying to sound like Pantera...

I have them all and will be slowly uploading them to the DU...

Mechanized Warfare went out today!

Whatever happened to that Blind Guardian tour, also?
