http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v510/skaskaskaska/DSC00436.jpg HOTT.

You guys should check out Chief Libido, my mate John moved to that band a couple months ago (the band has been going for a couple years) and I just saw them for the first time tonight. They're kinda like old-skool Drive Thru Records pop-punk/emo, but with a trumpet & saxophone as well...In some songs they break into random ska sections, but not often. Check it out! They're from Leicester or something.

EDIT: particularly listen to Out Of My League for that DTR sound, although it sounded better live

On our myspace we have a live recording, it's not great though. It's a video. It's my homepage if you're interested (Blitzkreig Bop cover)

Jas: Thanks, I like her bunches and bunches :D Dirty hippy look is totally the way to go Jas, I approve of it (obviously lol). Anyways, you can always take it out later, so why not?

Do you have anything proffesionally recorded? My brothers band (they're all 16) have recorded 6 songs and are recording three more this Thursday.

They have three of their songs up there.

B 12-11-2005 09:32 PM

Lawl. Vince you dirty hippie.

Haha...yeah, you guys can't win tonight

But it's ok, even if you all don't like Gaby I more than compensate for your dislikes most assuredly :p

Zack: Not yet, we're gonna try and get it together after break. I'll try and upload my little bro's band stuff after break though...they totally kick. Indie rock band, but super talented. I'll check that pv shortly.

Brandon: I know :D

I might shave it actually, we'll see. I'd say 60/40 chance for right now.

What does Nick play?

And keep in mind all of my bros stuff is professionally recorded.

BridgeToSolace 12-11-2005 09:38 PM
You only need like.... all of the modes, diminished scale, whole tone scale... that's like 9. I think that covers all of the chords.
Outside of my lessons, I have NEVER needed to use a dimished scale. Ever.

I just know my minor and major scale (which means I know modes too, I spose. A Dorian is really just a B major and what not) forms. And pentatonic. That's all I've ever really used.

Although that may just be a sign that I suck at guitar.

(And you said you're doing blues...whenever I did blues I did improvising and blues scales. But oh well.)

Nick does Bass, but he has no band yet.

Sounds sweet, I'm putting it on after AWS.

Night dude.

Jon: Dim scales can be good.

B 12-11-2005 09:42 PM

I only know blues scales. O shi.

I took lessons from this crazy blues dude though, so that may explain it. I've never taken the time to learn any other scales, although I haven't put much time into guitar lately at all. Over Christmas though I plan on making up for all my slacking.

Ick, the singing. And reverb on them no less. I hate reverb. On almost everything.
Jon: Dim scales can be good.
I only used them when there was an E7#9 in a blues song I was doing. It didn't sound particularly good. And, since I generally don't use barre cords and what not in my music (and when I do, I don't use altered chords, because I don't like the way they sound), so I don't really see were it'd be good. Send me some tabit where it works nice.

The best thing lessons has done for me is taught me how to stay in key. After that, writing becomes so much easier.

B 12-11-2005 09:47 PM

I didn't even learn how to stay in key during lessons. I know all the keys though so..

Permanent Solution 12-11-2005 09:48 PM

Jon: Eh, use it in a fast metal setting :)

Noice pic.

It takes awhile to start memorizing the actual notes on the fret board rather than just the numbers. I usually don't pay attention to note names when I play usually, unless I'm reading music that isn't tabbed.

Jon: That is hot.
