We all know Sparatans discovered america.

Tyler 09-25-2007 02:10 PM

Well, he didn't discover the country but he did help get it mapped out so the natives could be pooped all over.

He just happened to do it completely by mistake.
I generally am apathetic about things though. My friends will be like OMG BUSH IS RUINING AMERICA!!! or talk about gas prices or some world event, and I just find myself really not caring at all.
Yea but most people who run around saying that usually have no idea what they're talking about.

BUSH IS RUINING AMERICA CUZ, UM, HE'S AN IDIOT AND THE WAR IN IRAQ IS WRONG.

superpeer 09-25-2007 02:11 PM

I'm not saying it's not true, I'm just saying it's something people say to show how many pointless facts they know.

He did bring America to the foreground of European civilisation, which is, as we all know, the most important one, and so, in that respect, he did, in a way, discover America, whether by accident or not.

omg a lot of commas

EDIT: fu cocaine, I worded it gooder
A lot of Italian Americans tend to be proud of Columbus. There's no use arguing with them because you might find a baseball bat has been taken to your kneecaps before the night's end.
He wasn't even sailing for the Italians, though. Thats so stupid.

Possible, I'm not very good at punctuation. I don't think it's wrong, however. I think U are.

First comma is uncalled for. Sentence makes equal sense with or without it, nonetheless not putting it is more correct.

Second case, idem.

Third case, ibidem.

Bazarov 09-25-2007 02:20 PM

That's his writing style, it gives English posts some Belgian zing.
How come, all those stops cripple the reading and f‪uck the message up.
"which is the most important one" is the non-restrictive subclause, referring to the antecedent 'civilisation' and must therefore be separated from the main clause by use of commas. It is, however, briefly interrupted by the interjection 'as we all know', which is indicated by another pair of commas.

I suppose in the second case, I could have used a full stop to make the sentence shorter, but there's nothing wrong with it. I chose to use 'in that respect' and 'in a way' outside the main sentence, to emphasise their meanings, so there's nothing wrong with putting them between commas. It's all personal preference, bitch.

It's not my fault you feel crippled by small, penile shaped, abstract objects.
