Does anyone else think that this album would be 100x better if Tom could actually sing?

form 04-17-2006 09:57 PM

Tom sings just fine...

Rapidshare is faster than megaup, so if you have a bad connection, rapid would be the way to go :thumb:

CommieCanada 04-17-2006 10:33 PM

ok so i listened to the AVA album like 12 times and i have come to the conclusion that while there is definatly a positive change of direction for Tom, none of these songs would sound too out of place on the last Blink album. Really. If you take out all the string arrangements and effects, its still blink 182. I showed The Adventure to a friend of mine and before he even heard the vocals he asked me if it was a new blink 182 song.

Now im not doggin the album, because its great, but it didnt live up to the hype that Tom gave it. its one thing to be proud of your work, but quite another to claim that you will make music history.

and dammit, this album would be so much better if Tom wasn't singing

Exactly - everything u said was true. I was really let down by the album - i mean, i thought it would be great, really great but..........it wasnt. Like the advertisments for the movie and stuff where u would here the clips of the songs made me think "Wow" this is gunna blow me away but basically they just found some nice sound effects then threw in some crappy vocals. Like for valkyrie missile - when i heard that song on the movie advertisment it sounded like it was gunna be a great song but the only difference between that clip and the actual song is that the sound effects on the song were more drug out and then there was about a minute or two of vocals that sounded like they were made up in a second - and it was pretty much like that for every song. The band depended too much on their cool sounding sound effects and didn't pay enough attention to making an actual musical masterpiece. /good video game filler music - didn't blow me away....dissapointing

- there, thats my review right there

(im still a big Tom Delongue fan tho)

Yeah...
Tom sings just fine...
No... no he doesn't. He's very pitchy, scoops to notes, and often sings through his nose. It may not have shown much during his blink era(though I'm not much of a blink fan) but AVA's atmostpheric textured music fleshes all the negitives of his voice wide out in the open.

I'll be buying it. I haven't listened to the leak, but that review convinced me that it'll probably be worth it to just go ahead and buy it.

punkrocker-182 04-17-2006 11:45 PM

Yeah i planed 2 buy the album no matter what.
and if i download the leak and hate it, im still buying the album cause im such a huge Tom fan. (and im buying the plus 44 album also).
P.S. I Just Started the download!!! :D just 12 more hours

punkrocker-182 04-18-2006 01:21 AM

7 hr. 52 min. left to go.
it seemed to have sped up.

Ross 04-18-2006 04:10 AM

Wow, I could learn all the guitar parts and vocal parts and probably buy a drum-kit from ebay and learn all the drum parts in the time it's taking you.

Unlucky.

I secretly work for AvA and give the album good reviews..So people go buy it, hate the Cd but have still given money to Tom, who splits the profit with me :p:rolleyes:

Ross 04-18-2006 04:36 AM

And my name is Joe Strummer.

Wow, I don't know. I have completley forgotten there was a movie. Or, there's at least a possiblility of a movie.

yourstruly 04-18-2006 05:19 AM

I probably won't buy it, because i'm poor. :(

poo-poo-pee-pee 04-18-2006 05:31 AM

I've already Pre-ordered it. :p
I have no idea what's going on with the movie.
It must be happening, coz the trailer is still on the site.
God I hope Tom doesn't star in it. I'd assume him to be a pathetic actor...
The very few times I've seen him act, he's sucked ***...

Bad Blood 04-18-2006 05:40 AM

Haha, he's made history by hyping it up so much and letting millions of fans down.

I just don't like the prog claims Tom has been making. He has discovered a 4th chord, it's hardly outstanding stuff. Its still an enjoyable listen, but a serious let down.

punkrocker-182 04-18-2006 12:17 PM

****! it got canceled in the middle of the night! ****!!!
it was 138mb someone said it was 50mb

Bad Blood 04-18-2006 12:42 PM

It is 50mb :S

Surtr 04-18-2006 01:04 PM

The movie is CGI'd up good. There's no actual people I don't think, I'm fairly sure it's all CGI.

chumpradio 04-18-2006 01:07 PM

The film has been delayed until 2007 anyway.
I think it'll never be released.

Surtr 04-18-2006 01:12 PM

Haha thats possible..

Bad Blood 04-18-2006 02:21 PM

What movie anyway?

These_Green_Eyes 04-18-2006 02:43 PM

The movie that Tom was talking about creating. It's suppose to correspond with the album and what he was feeling during the whole Blink-182 deterioration.

punkrocker-182 04-18-2006 02:54 PM
It is 50mb :S
witch one?

im going to try rapidshare now.

Bad Blood 04-18-2006 03:17 PM

B 04-18-2006 05:07 PM

Does it matter :-\

punkrocker-182 04-18-2006 05:09 PM

Yeah the 138mb takes 12 hours
and the 58 takes 4 hours

B 04-18-2006 05:14 PM

Leave your computer on instead of wasting 48 hours on here bitching about it when you could be downloading it.
