And yes, it is Tom from the ATEC cover. I didn't make it cause I obsess over Tom, I just thought it would make a good stencil.
Could you please post the stencil?

Yep, I'll see if I can find it on this computer. I'll post it by the end of the day. Cause I've gotta go to school now.

And coheneran, you could always steal paint like someone else said. Theres a risk involved but thats what a lot of street artists do. And there is some really good tutorials on StencilRevolution on good ways to steal paint.

Danger Bird 05-29-2006 07:06 PM

When I get my civil rights timeline back from my teacher, I'll post it here. I made a huge fist stencil.

Well done.
Here's my first use of fabric paint rather than spray paint: 2 patches made out of an old pair of jeans.

Also well done.

Thanks Justin, and Mr. Poser.

Angry Balled Fists! 05-30-2006 07:17 AM

So i did a practise one and i decided that the card was too flimsy and it was a bit messy so i'm cutting another stencil out now.

Results posted shorty.

Anarcho Poser 05-30-2006 08:21 AM

How do you suppose acrylic paint will hold up on a shirt? I'm gunna do the banksy stencil, and the only colored paint I have around here (for the flowers) is acrylic, and I don't really want to buy a bunch of fabric paint just for that little bit.

Buy textile medium, then mix one part medium with one part acrylic, and it'll stay on the fabric like proper fabric paint does.

Angry Balled Fists! 05-30-2006 09:12 AM

Hmm i've done it and it looks alright, a little messy.

It would have been better if i didn't try and put it on before it was fully dry :(

That's good! It does look a bit wet, but it'll look awesome once it dries.

Tip for all printers on cloth: Once the print is dry, it's good to iron it through a thin piece of material. What I mean is that you put the dried print on the ironing board, cover it with a thin sheet (white is best so you can see through to the print), then iron it for a couple of minutes.

Angry Balled Fists! 05-30-2006 09:44 AM

you can't see it form that pic but there is quite a lot of blodgas and stuff roudn the edges.

haha i used a little paint brush to do it, well sketchy.

This is true. If you don't put the cloth on it starts to small bad and sometimes smoke...but I have a patch which has held up exceptionally well to repeated washings thanks to ironing. It's faded less than my jeans have so far.

Jon 05-31-2006 04:09 PM

Reckon black permanent marker and gold marker will hold up on jeans if I don't wash them?

My jeans are now 50% more punk than they were 1/2 hour ago.

(my friends band, its not a great picture becasue its on, but i couldnt take another because my camera got "hardcore"-danced into)

coheneran 05-31-2006 04:18 PM

Is that a NASA ship shooting at something?

SantaDuJuan 05-31-2006 04:24 PM

Sup guys.
All right, I got the stuff needed to make a stencil and so on.
I'm thinking of just writting one word on a shirt black shirt.

Now, it's between "rhyme" and "think"
But I don't know which one.
I could make two, but then again.
I need this first one to work or else I'll abonden this whole DIY ethic and presue making comics.

Also, DIY Comics?
Where would I go/buy for comic editing/making stuff?
Not drawing, but computer editing.

Brain Toad 05-31-2006 04:29 PM

DIY comics on the internet as in webcomics?

Get Photoshop, you can steal it punx way. Or you can support the little man and use GIMP instead.

How about newspeak? Thyme, or Rhynk. Or rhymethink. I dunno.

Maybe so, but I have photoshop.

After my photoshop screwed up for a few months, a friend of mine suggested GIMP. I tried using it once, was absolutely appauled with the layout, and got another copy of photoshop.

Brain Toad 05-31-2006 05:02 PM

I've never used GIMP, I'm fine with my stolen photoshop.

Yeah, but my idea is to just use toys, dolls, armymen, action figures, etc.

Brain Toad 05-31-2006 05:17 PM

Are you going to take pictures of them yourself or just manipulate stock images? You could use any image editing program for the former, just getting speech bubbles in.

Probably, but I need help creating sets and writing, it's a partner comic. I still don't know what the main character will be and etc.
I was thinking of having it deal with punx but that might be kind of hard since it's just toys.
It'll probably be about a differnt subject and have some comics about the punk culture.

coheneran 05-31-2006 05:21 PM

It's really hard making them funny. I had a go at writing some comedy sketches once, they really really sucked. We should make a joint MX Punx webcomic. Maybe try a few NN2S-style strips.

It is hard, but I have time and I want to want make a comic. I just can't draw, I' m completly a musican when it comes to art, except dance.

I'm not joking about dance.

Brain Toad 05-31-2006 05:25 PM

You can ask sketchyjoe to help, I know he was interested in writing some scripts for a comic we were planning for a couple of us slsk punx.

But webcomics are a really good place to be in right now, they are gorwing in populairty and webcomic artists support each other a lot.
