friday school? your school is off by a day

Bazarov 09-25-2007 01:26 PM

Talk about suspensions and prison-esque schools. I got sent to continuation school for 3 days. That place was like a prison, cameras, no back packs, no school supplies (you had to ask for a pencil/pen and then return it when you were done using it), no phones, you had to go to the bathroom with the class whilst being supervised by the teacher.
If you skip class you get Friday school here, which is from 2:30 - 4:30. I've had it twice but only went once, and the one time I didn't go they suspended me for two days, lol.
Friday school?

My school for a year had Wednesday school and Saturday school, but dropped Wednesday and now just has Saturday school.

Nostalgia 09-25-2007 01:27 PM

Yeah, it is weird that they call it that.

But I don't have school Friday for some reason.

Eliminator 09-25-2007 01:28 PM

i had two saturday schools once because i never bothered going to like the 20 detentions i got

every time they asked why i was like "i forgot about it"

Nostalgia 09-25-2007 01:29 PM

The only thing my school is cool about is absences. 12 and you fail the semester, but if it's for good reason and is justified they leave you alone.

Bazarov 09-25-2007 01:29 PM

 yes!

My school wouldn't have tolerated that, they would've probably just given you a truancy.

Nostalgia 09-25-2007 01:31 PM

I like how my school is so willing to let back people who attempt to murder students. This kid paralyzed some guy outside of the school, and the school was notified and they let him back like two days later.

Tyler 09-25-2007 01:32 PM

I skipped 70 business classes in grade 11. My vice principal came up to me once and was like, "Monsieur Nunes tells me you're no longer going to his class. What's the problem?" and I was like "Yeah, he pretty much established that I'll fail his class by the second week and I didn't really feel like beating a dead horse".

I continued skipping and failed with a breathtaking 18 percent.

Deth 09-25-2007 01:33 PM

I went to the largest high school in the country, but it was basically run like a college. It was the chillest high school ever.

Bazarov 09-25-2007 01:33 PM

that's intense. That kid hopefully got arrested and prosecuted though?

Eliminator 09-25-2007 01:33 PM

i had a 2% in one of my math classes once

my achievements are endless.

Nostalgia 09-25-2007 01:34 PM

I don't know. A lot of **** happens at my school that is ignored for some odd reason.

Bazarov 09-25-2007 01:35 PM

College was sick, granted I was going to community college, but I only had school mon-thurs. I can't wait to go back.
All American high schools are like that. If you apply for an off campus pass at my school, you have to go before our super intendent and raise your right hand while promising never to violate the off campus pass rules, which includes not taking anyone off campus with you, only going to your house, and being back before the bell rings.
Sucks to be you, all you had to do here is have your parents sign a paper and you sign the paper saying you would follow the written rules and you get it

Tyler 09-25-2007 01:49 PM

whatever I guess the amazing us education system more than makes up for their overzealous yet judicious security regiments.

Eliminator 09-25-2007 01:50 PM

yeah our education system is flawless

Bazarov 09-25-2007 01:52 PM

gotta love our education and how high school teachers still say Columbus discovered America.

I feel pretty lucky, my history teacher and AP Eng teacher pretty much dedicated their careers to making sure we un-learn all the fallacies and bullshit.

Eliminator 09-25-2007 01:52 PM

lets spend the next six years preparing for a standardized test!

Nostalgia 09-25-2007 01:52 PM

he did cuz the natives didnt discover it cuz they were HERE already, like, Columbus found the injans but they were the wrong ones but he still like, DISCOVERED AMERICA on his own.

I mean the Vikings came n dey pwned the Beothuk in Newfoundland like centuries b4 Columbus but they were all "ew skraelings" and so they were like peace.

So yeah He did discover it.

superpeer 09-25-2007 01:55 PM

Luckily they make up for it with their vast knowledge of geography and ultimate proficiency in foreign languages.

olé!

Nostalgia 09-25-2007 01:56 PM

Yeah, lmao. My German teacher was born in a small town in our state and only minored in German.

Yeah, definitely not qualified.

One issue I had with my school, I think probably many American high schools are like this. The school's goal was to prepare us to get jobs, which I felt was stupid, that they should ultimately prepare us for college and worry more about our education.

Tyler 09-25-2007 01:58 PM

My old business teacher (the one I skipped) used to be a VP of Puma Marketing. He had some ridiculous PH.D, too, and when i had him for History, he didnt use anything to teach the class, he just lectured for the whole class without notes or a textbook. It was unreal.

But he was a ****ing piece of ****.

Anglachel 09-25-2007 02:01 PM

I got this teacher fired for calling me an idiot when I told him Columbus didn't discover North America two years ago

His arguement was "Yeah? Well then why do Americans have Columbus Day? Are you saying the Americans are idiots?"

He got real mad when I said yes because he was American.

He should have been fired for teaching outside the curriculum anyways. Canadian schools aren't supposed to teach that Columbus did anything but get totally lost and end up on the wrong side of the world.
what's your favourite colour?
That's probably why you managed to misspell something like 'Wie Gehts' on MSN.

Well at least you proved your apathy.

superpeer 09-25-2007 02:07 PM

And the whole 'Columbus didn't discover America' thing is just pure smart-assery.

I just realised that no one cares or knows who discovered Australia, lol. At least, I don't know, anyway. ^--^

Anglachel 09-25-2007 02:08 PM

Jelle read moar, he emigrated from the US

Coke: Yeah he was an italian teacher and was trying to teach us stuff by talking about Columbus

IT HAZ BEENZ PROVENZ THAT THE HOMO ERECTUS WAS FIRST TO MAKE ITS TO AUSTRALIAZ and then evolved

my anthropology lesson from today

Eliminator 09-25-2007 02:08 PM

columbus is an okay city

Kage 09-25-2007 02:09 PM

A lot of Italian Americans tend to be proud of Columbus. There's no use arguing with them because you might find a baseball bat has been taken to your kneecaps before the night's end.

Bazarov 09-25-2007 02:09 PM
Well at least you proved your apathy.
I generally am apathetic about things though. My friends will be like OMG BUSH IS RUINING AMERICA!!! or talk about gas prices or some world event, and I just find myself really not caring at all.
