i don't think this needs a thread so i'll ask it here:
would a simple voice recorder be good for recording myself drumming? i don't want to spend alot, nowhere past $50. i saw this one today in the city and i was thinking about picking it up, but all the employees were busy so i couldn't ask about recording drums.
so, anyone have a reply to this? anyone use one?

CombatWombat3 09-18-2005 10:24 PM
i hate that guys voice.
Double Bass Jim 09-19-2005 12:31 AM

PowerStamp 09-19-2005 12:35 AM

Cohed and Cambria are ok..not a big fan though.
Actually they're our competition on October 6th lol...my band's playing a show here in KC with Across Five Aprils and two other locals, and C&C are playing in Lawrence (45 minute drive)
we're not worried ;) haha

Dude, I'm so freakin excited about our show this tuesday. It's our second show as a full band (not counting Battle of the Bands or Talent Show at school, as we played a very different less talented style lol and had a different singer. Plus it was at school), and our first at the KC-Famous EL TORREON, whoo!

ugh. I work tomorrow from 11AM to 7PM and then we're having practice tuesday at 3PM, loading our stuff up and leaving for El Torreon at about 5:30 to get there around 6. ****s yeah.
We THINK we go on first (7 or 7:30 depends when it actually starts, doors at 7), so that way we'll have plenty of time to setup, move stuff around and screw around for a bit.

PowerStamp 09-19-2005 12:37 AM

Oh yeah and regaring Claudio as somebody's favorite singer>

Phil Labonte is easily one of the most talented singers out there right now. Not only is he in one of the most musically talented badass bands right now (All That Remains), but he has a killer (and VERY understandable) scream, hardcore type shout, and an AMAZING singing voice.
Nucca.
http://www.myspace.com/allthatremains
all singing of any sort is done by him.

Double Bass Jim 09-19-2005 12:53 AM

Haha your at more shows then anyone I swear.

Win A Rabbit 09-19-2005 12:47 PM

well i left school for the afternoon to come home and practice drums.

actually my friend left because he was sick, and i didn't want to sit through an 80 minute spare and a science class that i can't pay attention to, all on my own. after the teacher's done rambling for half an hour, i just ask him what she was talking about, and he gives it to me plain and simple in a sentence or two.

well before, i talked about a rant i did about the whole "prince harry nazi costume" thing. well i got it back today, and i got 9/10 (and a scratch n' sniff sticker) on it. i may type it out later if anyone's interested. (by the way, the sticker i got smells like flowers)

FL3P 09-19-2005 01:04 PM

I just caught the Coheed and Cambria comments and for one I recommend letting them grow on you. Josh is a very good drummer nonetheless and very tasteful and interesting at what he does. I am new to them but have grown to like them a lot and he has quickly become one of my favorite drummers.

gotta love those AA chinese. i need to get a heavier stand for mine. i got it on a crappy pdp700. mines the 18inch chinese too. i hate it when my stands wobble a lot.

Win A Rabbit 09-19-2005 05:18 PM

man, i just had a SWEET 2 hour nap. it was exactly what i needed.

i'm thinking about asking that girl i barely know, but still like, to go to grad with me, but i don't know how to ask her, since she's like "last resort" for me. how do i say "will you go with me... if everyone else i know is already going with someone" without sounding like an a'sshole? because i've asked like 10 of my lady friends, and they'd made plans back at the end of last year. d'amn girls and their need to plan everything out.

FockerTheLopper 09-19-2005 05:49 PM

Dude ur mad lucky my stupid f*cking singer kept calling me so I had to get the phone... Umm well if you already talk to her just get her number and sn, the secret is to make it clear that your coming on to her but not to come on too strong(unless of course that works for you). Talk to her for like two or three days and if you like her personality ask her out when you see her.

FockerTheLopper 09-19-2005 05:55 PM

Well, I'm gonna post what I did in my drumming world today since posting these seems to make me less sleepy. I went to jazz band and for the second time got to play the set and now I can accually play it pretty good, I just need to play my hihat foot harder and develop independence with my left hand(which I have on my snare that one is just too tight and I'm not used to playing that kit). I haven't played my set in like 3 days because after my show I still didn't set it up from being so tired... I miss my kit but I'm gonna try my cymbal setup a little different, I'm going to play it like how I used to play it, instead of the china being opposite the crash the ride will be and the china will be right over the floor tom mounted flat

Win A Rabbit 09-19-2005 05:57 PM

haha there was a fly that kept landing on my arm, so after like 10 minutes i got up and got the flyswatter, and it never came back.

well about the girl, i've talked to her alot over the internet, and at school for like 20 seconds at a time inbetween classes, and the occasional party, but we've never really hung out or anything, and i don't want to come off as sounding really into her, but i don't want to come off as sounding like she's my last resort either. you know? it's tough.

spike9908 09-19-2005 06:00 PM

get to be good friends with her and ask to go as friends, not a date or anything. still take her out and stuff, but make sure its clear it isnt a date (well, unless you find that you really like her).

Win A Rabbit 09-19-2005 06:13 PM

well i asked her, and then she reminded me that she told me last week that she's going with her friend to his in b.c. i completely forgot she told me about that.

but she told me she really wanted to go to the one in town, etc. and then we made plans to hang out this weekend. who knows, maybe my manly charm will persuade her into going with me? :naughty:

well i'm gonna go make supper, since my mom just called and said she won't be home until 8.

rockindrummer 09-19-2005 06:39 PM

Well so much for that, but atleast you get to hang out with her.

moogoogaipan 09-19-2005 07:05 PM

should probably kill yourself now.

nah i'm just messin

seriously though :upset:

PowerStamp 09-19-2005 07:17 PM

23 hours from now my band will either be just walking off the stage or packing our stuff up. :D

Dudeskies..I can't wait for this haha

go to bed at 4AM, wake up at noon, take a shower, pick up our singer, practice at 3, leave for show around 5:45, 6PM at the latest, setup play whoo

lol

So many good CDs also come out tomorrow.
