My bands bassist sucks, for some reason. He likes to tell me stuff I already know like Chris Adler is a good drummer, as if I dont know. He doesnt even play drums! Speed is everything in his opinion.

Tell him how Flea or Les Claypool* are amazing bassists. If he has a go at you, say something like: "yeah, its annoying when people who don't play the instrument tell you [insert something here]"
