Ha glad to see another Dig a Pony fan. It's a good song. John said that he thinks it might be the worst thing he's ever written and the lyrics are pretty meaningless, but musically it rules.

Sweet song, but I love Let It Be in general

Magicpoon: You forgot Across the Universe

I've Got A Feeling is a sweet song. Paul played it live when I went to see him.

Leper 02-28-2006 11:19 PM

Yeah I already like Let it Be as well. I still plan on getting Let it Be...Naked eventually though.

Seafroggys 03-01-2006 01:13 AM

i saw the Paul McCartney thing on PBS, it was pretty cool. I love the song he multi-tracked at the end. Really cool. His vocals on that rocked!

magicbus 03-01-2006 10:13 AM

I've always listened to "Across the Universe". I should've put that with the few songs I listened to before Naked.

I like how on "Dig a Pony" the "all I need is you" part reminds me of Joe Cocker's version of "A Litte Help From My Friends". That is an awesome song, and I love that part.

penelope weird hands 03-01-2006 10:47 AM

My girl is getting me into The Beatles.
I only have Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band.
It rocks!
These guys are awesome.. but you all know this. ;]

Fav. tracks have to be Sgt. Peppers etc, Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds and A Day In The Life.

Thanks. Tell us something we didn't know.

You might want to try adding some substance to your posts also, because technically you're just spamming up our thread.

She's developing quite the reputation as a "_______ rocks!!!!!!!!" type poster.

I finally found my mic (it's crappy but at least it works) and figured out how to use Audacity so I think I'm gonna do a Hide Your Love Away cover.

Haha yeah. He was the "Queen rocks" guy in the cr thread right? Anyways, I'd say that both versions of Let it Be are worth owning. Because Spector's work isn't all bad and some of the songs are better on Let it Be than they are on ...naked, especially the song Let it Be. And I have to agree with MBS, I've Got a Feeling is a sweet song. Probably my favorite off of Let it Be actually. John and Paul really show off their ability to sing completely different ways but stay in harmony on there if that makes any sense.

Edit- Why is this thread always so dead. We've had like 5 posts in here in the last two weeks. Somebody post something..

blue3 03-01-2006 09:48 PM

I don't know why this thread is always so dead.

I only have Let It Be Naked. leppermessiah, you should post that cover here when you're done. That song is one of my favorites from Help.

Yikes! Page 3 of the R&M forums...

I saw Paul McCartney doing this PBS show where he did this little concert and recording demonstration at Abbey Road studios a few nights ago. It was pretty sweet. There was a mellowtron there, and he did the intro to Strawberry Fields, just like on the record. Did anybody else see that?

Edit: Whoops, just read seafroggys post. That thing at the end was pretty tight.

blue3 03-02-2006 09:32 PM

I wish I saw that.

BigTrav415 03-02-2006 09:35 PM

Ah, so that's the psychadelic-instrument thingy that's on all the Magical Mystery Tour stuff. I've been trying to figure that out for a while. I've heard Abbey Road is the biggest/nicest/most advanced recording studio out there.

Seafroggys 03-03-2006 12:48 AM

i wouldn't exactly call the mellotron a psychadelic instrument. And Paul played the song in the wrong key (damn my perfect pitch).

Yeah I went to Abbey Road's website and they're pretty much the most technologically advanced studio in UK, if not the world. The newer Star Wars trilogy was mixed there.

I wonder what Abbey Road was like back in the day? I heard Sgt. Peppers was recorded on a 4 track.

Isn't the studio that Pink Floyd recorded Piper at the Gates of Dawn right by Abbey Road?

Hmm I dunno Blue, the guitar isn't the actual tabs, I just kind of improvised it as simple as possible. Guitar purists might get angry:eek:. The vocals sound alright though.

How Dare You Not Play It Perfectly Exact!

No just kidding. Haha, does your song have drums and singing and all that? I am interested in hearing it, and it doesn't really matter if it sounds exact. I think it's cooler when people make their own versions of songs instead of copying the song exactly. :chug:

Leper 03-03-2006 01:50 AM

It's just guitars and vocals. I double tracked the vocals on the chorus and it sounds really cool. I tried doing the entire song with double tracked vocals but it kind of sounded over-killed.

I might upload it somewhere later, not right now though. With my dial-up I'm pretty sure I'd have to make it an all day affair haha.

I was going to watch that, but I had two tests the next day:upset: I've seen the documenry about how Geogre Martin produced Srt. Peppers on only a four track.

Magicpoon: You forgot Across the Universe

Am I the only one who found that funny?

But anyways, I recorded a cover of hide your live away a long time ago, I don't think I played the guitar exactly either and it cuts out at the end but most people enjoy it! Here's a link to it!

And as for let it be, I like Dig A Pony, Two Of Us, Across The Universe, and I've Got A Feeling (the last two are probably in my top 10 beatle songs), and of course Let It Be and the Long and Winding Road. The cleaned up version of across the universe on let it be...naked blew my mind.

And in solo news, I recently bought the 2001 re-release of All Things Must Pass, I was gonna get Radiohead's The Bends and another cd with the 2 for 25 sticker, but I couldnt find a good enough one. Then I saw Harrisons best of was 2 for 25 but it had no songs I hand't heard, then I saw All Things Must Pass and put the bends back. Im really digging I'd Have You Anytime, and Wah-Wah. And the ones I heard before like My Sweet Lord, Isn't It A Pity, What is Life, and All Things Must Pass are all incredible.

Leper 03-03-2006 02:37 PM

Yeah I remember I really liked your cover. I think I gave you some feedback on it too..I just assumed your guitar track was the actual tabs.

robo2448 03-03-2006 02:42 PM

Yeah I remember your cover. It was very good. You had a pretty good voice if I remember correctly.

All Things Must Pass owns. If Not For You is my favorite. But the whole album is very solid except for some songs where Spector's production is just a little too much (What is Life, Hear Me Lord, and The Art of Dying). But even those songs are pretty good too.

And yeah, PATGOD was recorded right next to Sgt. Pepper's.

So yeah, Magical Mystery Tour owns. I could never pick a favorite Beatles song, but Strawberry Fields Forever is definitely one of my favorites.

Leper 03-03-2006 02:55 PM

Yeah I love MMT. Fool on the Hill is one of my two favourite McCartney songs, the other being For No One.

El_Goodo 03-03-2006 06:18 PM

For No One is a really great song! I heard it for the first time just a few months ago and I loved it.

zabbit82 03-03-2006 08:52 PM

Yeah, its a great song. Revolver as a whole is better. But everyone here knows that....

I haven't heard MMT in a while. Magical Mystery Tour, Fool On The Hill and Penny Lane have always been my favs on that. Flying is pretty sweet too.

One of the few songs I absolutly cannot stand. In fact I hate it. I have nothing Beatles related to add other then I like Blue Jay Way.

It's a nice singalong piece. It seems that Graham Nash wrote more poppy songs then the rest of them. All their different styles together is pretty awesome.
