To be honest I would have chosen Iron Maiden, but I hadn't even discovered rock/metal then so its kinda irrelevant.
|
it was back in the days when i just started listening to decent metal and i wasnt as big of a Maiden fan as an ozzy one, i still prefer ozzy to maiden but i would probably chsoe maiden over ozzy these days
Has anyone here seen Ozzy live with sabbath or solo? Id always heard he put on a good show but he was a bit boring from what I saw on the Never Say Die DVD.
I saw him with Sabbath. Excellent set, until his voice cracked and he ran off for 10 minutes. But it was ok, because Tony led them in a impromptu jam. |
I saw Ozzy solo, from what I remember it was good, though it annoys me how he has to tell everyone how he loves us every 5 seconds...
The Ozzy Live at Budokan DVD is worth getting to see good Ozzy solo show. |
Haha Ive noticed that on Past Lives and Never Say Die!. At least hes appreciative I suppose. |
I downloaded Master of Reality again last night..so good.

Indeed. It's quite possibly my favorite Ozzy-era album. |
yes i concur, it's very bluesy and one hell of an album. i also am very much into sabatoge and self titled also some of their softer works, people diss ozzy to much too
|
Sabotage I think is an incredibly underrated album. Also its better than Sabbath Bloody Sabbath imo.
|
Early Black Sabbath albums had mass quantities of awesomeness that stemmed from alot of the bluesy elements that Iommi had in his guitar playing. And yes, Sabotage was much better than Sabbath Bloody Sabbath (except the track SBS itself, because it owned hard).
|
If sabbath bloody sabbath was on Sabotage instead of Am I going Insane it would be a perfect album, although I suppose Sabbath Bloody Sabbath wouldnt really fit with the other songs on sabotage.

I actually sort of like Am I Going Insane...in the most masculine way possible. |
Haha. The only thing I like about it is those odd laughing noises at the end of it. But that chorus is just terrible.
|
What does everyone prefer, Ozzy (solo stuff) or Black Sabbath? I'd have to say Ozzy, no idea why just prefer the sound and Randy rules the world but Black Sabbath are still amazing of course:p
|
vol. 4 is the best sabbath album, sabotage kinda blows^^^

Black Sabbath by 300,000 miles. No comparison. Dio era > Tony Martin era > Ozzy era >>>>> Ozzy solo |
Side B (Tracks 4-8 for u non-vinyl owners out there) does take a bit to get used to but after a while they really grow on you (except Am I Going Insane). And Side A is just some awesome heavy stuff. What about Sabotage don't you like?
|
I prefer Sabbath by far, but Ozzy's solo stuff is fun.
Dio's solo material is also fantastic. |
Indeed. Everything Dio's ever done has been excellent.
|
I've only heard Holy Diver, but it's great.
|
The Last In Line is a Dio classic too.
|
I've heard a couple of tracks off that one.
|
Apparently his new stuff is really good, but I haven't heard any of it.
|
I have Last In Line and Sacred Heart from his solo career. Ive got to admit there both quite weak, I think its mainly Vivian Cambell.

it all depends how am feeling that day, sometimes the darker sabbath stuff sounds better but other times the more lively sound that ozzys solo stuff had is better i need to get more Dio solo stuff, i have only have a "best of" album, i also need to get some more Tony Martin stuff |
I've not heard any Sabbath for ages :(
For anyone who wants to get into stuff that Dio has done over the years, these are the essential purchases: Ronnie James Dio - The Elf Albums (can normally be found in the Dio section at Virgin Megastore) Rainbow - Ritchie Blackmores Rainbow, Rising, Long Live Rock n Roll Black Sabbath - Heaven and Hell, Live Evil Dio - Holy Diver, Dream Evil (I don't know a huge amount of his solo stuff, but those 2 albums are great) |
i always meant to get some elf but never got round to it, ah well i think i need to take a break from buying cds its eating into my money alot lately
|
But first you must get Rainbow Rising, it's on of the greatest albums ever recorded imo. Nothing beats "A Light In The Black".
|
meh might do.
i realised today that i havnt listend to a full sabbath album in like 3 months :o |
I've been worshipping Sabbath Bloody Sabbath lately.
