its obvious.

I need some bands to listen to...

Somewhere along the lines of Pg. 99 (their more emotional stuff), Botch (more "emo" sounding though), The Number Twelve Looks Like You, and Converge.

I'm looking for exremely emotional stuff. Kinda like in Pg. 99 - In Love With Apparition, that song is amazing to me, but the rest of their stuff lacks something...

Any help is great appreciated.

deadohiosky9 01-12-2006 05:58 PM

Check out Orchid, Ampere, Circle Takes The Square, Comadre, Envy, Frail. Those are just some from the top off my head.

Word.

Spirit of Versailles too.....great band.

SunnyDayRealEstateAM 01-12-2006 06:05 PM

Even though they don't sound like any of those bands I recommend Trophy Scars. They are really emotional. Especially Baby Eskimo Kisses.

Well they definately need to be checked out but I don't know if the guy will respond to them because they are just emotional post-hardcore.

SunnyDayRealEstateAM 01-12-2006 06:09 PM

The guys vocals are shaking in Baby Eskimo Kisses.

Yeah but this guy seems to be aiming for something a tad more chaotic than Trophy Scars.

deadohiosky9 01-12-2006 06:16 PM

he might like Hassan I Sabbah too.

I learned the intro to 'So Strange I Remember You" on guitar. That intro is so amazing.

deadohiosky9 01-12-2006 09:43 PM

that intro is so much fun to play.

cbmartinez 01-12-2006 09:50 PM

Teppei is a beast. I'm listening to Vheissu now, this album is so sensational.
Try blowing your vocal chords out. That sucks.
oh man, I'd be royally ****ed. I'm in choir (I like singing normally as well) and if I ****ed up my voice anymore then I already have, my choir teacher would kill me. there's only three guys in choir so if one of us isn't there its hell for the people who are. I have to rest my voice this weekend (I don't have school tomorrow or monday :p) because I can't really sing in the octave I'm suposed to for the song we're doing (I'm used to singing an octave below what my choir teacher wants me to)

It sucks 'cause my band was starting to get going. We had a few songs done and were gonna book some small shows within the next 2-3 weeks and bam. End of band.

Does anyone know anything about The State Secedes? I just got their self titled from level-plane and I'm wondering if I can find lyrics or even what the songs are called (the tracklist just has 9 untitled songs and the linear notes are about a political movement kind of like what the refused or nation of ulysses did.) when I google them all I can find is a tour poster from when they toured with saetia and some reviews that don't give me any info. If it helps, I think at least one of their members ended up in Gospel.

zombies111 01-13-2006 01:07 AM

Yeah. I think they broke up in 2000. Level Plane was having a sale where you could buy 4 cds off a list of 10 or so for 10 bucks and I thought the concept sounded cool so I bought it.

You live in Ohio. Where exacly are you guys going to be playing? You should book some shows around the Columbus area and I could check your band out. If you don't know anything about the Columbus area but you you're willing to travel. Try booking at Bernies or the Newport. It would be awesome to see a band from someone from mx.

Unban Me Says Cameo 01-13-2006 01:59 PM

"-The vocal style is usually much more intense than emocore, ranging from normal singing in the quiet parts to a kind of pleading howl to gut-wrenching screams to actual sobbing and crying. Straight-edge boys tend to hate that part, and much derision is levelled at emo bands on this point. Most emo bands tend to have some epic-length songs that build up very slowly to a climax where someone cries. If you're receptive to this kind of thing, it can be extremely powerful and moving, since it's very hard to fake that kind of pure emotion convincingly."

From Fourfa. My question: What songs have this crying described? I've yet to hear crying in a song. He also said something I think about a band Juliana? Could anyone tell me some stuff about them?
