Derek Birkett, founding member of Flux of Pink Indians, heard my cover of their song "Footprints in the Snow" and told me that he liked it, and that it was odd to hear his lyrics sung back to him after all of these years or something along those lines. I think I'm going to record a better, fleshed-out version of it to properly pay him tribute.

Punx points +150.
That's really awesome.

The closest thing I've had to something like that was when a guy who worked with the residents, snakefinger, and clubfoot orchestra was impressed with my knowledge of the residents at such a young age.

Anxious 08-16-2006 02:15 AM

you should have asked him who they were while you had a chance.

AIRIC 08-16-2006 02:18 AM

Us 3 are the lone survivors for the second night in a row. Sup guys?

Anxious 08-16-2006 02:21 AM

I drank an energy drink at work a few hours ago. It was called Ol Glory, and red white and blue embossed all over it. It had the pledge of alligence by the nutrition facts. It was the funfamniest cabonated beverage I've ever seen. I should have taken a pic so I could post it here.

AIRIC 08-16-2006 02:22 AM

I'm not really into energy drinks. I love Vault though. Its all I've drank all summer.

Anxious 08-16-2006 02:24 AM

Never heard of that one. Most energy drinks are expensive though.

AIRIC 08-16-2006 02:26 AM

Vault is a new coke product. It tastes exactly like Mountain Dew but I'm guessing has much more caffiene or sugar or something. It's 'saying' or whatever is "Drinks like a soda, kicks like an energy drink"

Either way it's delicious.

asdf 08-16-2006 02:50 AM
you should have asked him who they were while you had a chance.
I wouldn't want to know. My brother is pretty sure he has it all figured out, though.

And vault sucks.

Anxious 08-16-2006 02:56 AM
I wouldn't want to know. My brother is pretty sure he has it all figured out, though.
both of those statements are very intresting.

In other news I am taking pictures of myself in the dark. Using the mac built in digital camera. great fun.

asdf 08-16-2006 03:04 AM

My brother thinks that at least two of the original residents have gone on with their lives without the band. One's in the real estate buisness.

That's what I hate about the residents. They'll never die, but they have such a crazy fanatical cult following, that no matter what crap the other people claiming to be the residents puts out, it will be bought and raved over.

I mean, I love the residents and all, but so much of their recent stuff (like, within the last 10 years or more) has been.. well.. awful.

AIRIC 08-16-2006 03:05 AM

I don't get it. No one knows who they are?

I've never even heard the Residents.

Anxious 08-16-2006 03:07 AM

I agree with the last part. CD-ROMS?

I'll probably never come close to how your bro concluded that though.

asdf 08-16-2006 03:07 AM
I don't get it. No one knows who they are?

They've been going on for almost 40 years, and yeah, one of their main things is that no one knows their names or has seen their faces.

They've always been really experimental, and are usually pretty ahead of their time. Their recent stuff is pretty much just artsy and crappy but a lot of their stuff from the 70's and 80's is phenomenal.

AIRIC 08-16-2006 03:08 AM

Do they play live?

asdf 08-16-2006 03:09 AM
Do they play live?
Yep. I saw them in 2001. Their main costume is the tuxedo with a giant eyeball instead of a face. When they play live their usually behind curtains or in various disguises.

http://www.cultzone.net/music/2000/yemcultcd000617.jpg

Their live show was one of the best I've ever seen, though.

Anxious 08-16-2006 03:14 AM

In short Airic, you can rape them of nick in slsk tommrow.

asdf 08-16-2006 03:16 AM

I've probably got more residents than anyone on the forum. Our very own moderator didn't even know they covered Hank Williams. Pfft.

Anxious 08-16-2006 03:17 AM

Your soulseek name is an enigma to me.

i have all ther albums. You probably have boots and such. I have't listened to ALL of them yet though.

AIRIC 08-16-2006 03:19 AM

Actually Nick took me off his list because I am constantly taunting him now.

Anxious 08-16-2006 03:19 AM

rasputin23 is mine. I don't tell it to a lot of people on here because they always end up messaging me on it while my brother is online. Yeah, we have lots of residents bootlegs, such as the warner bros. album, but that one's not shared.

sketchyjoe 08-16-2006 07:48 AM

Third Reich 'n' Roll is a good album.

masada 08-16-2006 10:04 AM

Anxious 08-16-2006 10:34 AM

I still don't know what yours is. I asked you for it so I could get noisefest, then you got banned!

Iron Bug 08-16-2006 11:13 AM
I'm cheesewhiz on it. I won't message you. :)
You've been downloading a lot off me lately.

Pirate Satellite 08-16-2006 11:18 AM

Dude.

The Pit seems to be gone.

Ah, I was away too long.

AIRIC 08-16-2006 11:19 AM

It got deleted because it turned into the scum of the earth.

Pirate Satellite 08-16-2006 11:22 AM

Fair enough. I sort of wanted to read useless internet dribble so my problems would feel a little more benign.

Whatevz playa.
I'm cheesewhiz on it. I won't message you. :)
Now that I think about it, I've probably downloaded from you before, but I don't know what.

I'm going to be off of MX for a couple days. I'm going up to a friend's cottage, and it's going to be awesome. And by awesome I mean I'll be pretty much as bored as I've been for the past 3 days, but I'll have people to be bored with.

masada 08-16-2006 11:34 AM

computers > people

AIRIC 08-16-2006 11:52 AM

Yeah mutha fuxa

World Burns To Death 08-16-2006 11:56 AM

Jessizzle 08-16-2006 12:00 PM

Same yo.

sketchyjoe 08-16-2006 12:04 PM

Were you ever on his list Jess?

asdf 08-16-2006 12:42 PM
computers > people
You know what I'm so stoked about? My brother's laptop just arrived, and while I'm gone for the next few days, he'll be uploading all his stuff from this computer to that, making this computer practically all mine.

I'm better off being far away from home while he does this, because he's bound to get very fussy.

ibanezman575 08-16-2006 12:48 PM

my brothers going to college and i get all his shit

Anxious 08-16-2006 01:01 PM

Its weird that this subject came up. Just two days ago my bro ordered all new parts for his computer, so I got his old guts. 1.8 ghz, NVida graphics card, 1GB memory. He bought that 3 years ago too. He ended up getting a core dou processor which is so much power that you wouldn't know what to do with it.

AND I get his old room. He's leaving tommrow.
