So, I downloaded the soundtrack of covers from the new Tony Hawk. I don't mind TBS's cover of The Descendents, it isn't horrible. From Autmn to Ashes brutally raped Let's Have a War, but not as bad as A Perfect Circle did to the same song. I haven't listened to any other songs.

Ghostfire3 10-20-2005 04:02 PM

I heard My Chemical Romance covers Astro Zombies by the Misfits, which is a disgrace, did they completely destroy it?
I heard My Chemical Romance covers Astro Zombies by the Misfits, which is a disgrace, did they completely destroy it?
I don't know if they did, I don't like or listen to The Misfits. After I'm done listening I'll do a run down on my opinions on the covers.

Brain Toad 10-20-2005 04:16 PM

My Chemical Romance - "Astro Zombies" - I've never listened to the orginal and don't like the orginal band, so I have no real opinion

Fall Out Boy - "Start Today" - I don't like GB, but I don't like this cover even more, the vocalist of Fall Out Boy is bad

Taking Back Sunday - "Suburban Home / I Like Food" - This cover was decent. You'd be hard pressed to ruin a Descendents song. They took a pretty good apporach to it

Thrice - "Seeing Red / Screaming at a Wall" - Never heard the orginal, so no opinion. But I did like the implied crappy recording quality

Alkaline Trio - "Wash Away (Beneath the Shadows)" - Never heard the orginal again, but it seems okay to me

Rise Against - "Fix Me" - This one was okay, but again dont know the orginal.

Thursday - "Ever Fallen In Love" - Pretty bad, the singing is really odd for the song and sound wrong for the lyrics. And the music is too punked up for a Buzzcocks song

Drop Kick Murphy's - "Who is Who" - Pretty crap, mainly because I dislike DKM and the vocalist is crap

Saves the Day - "Sonic Reducer" - Horrible, horrible, horrible. No one should be allowed to cover the Dead Boys, it's just wrong

Senses Fail - "Institutionalized" - Meh, it was okay, but kind of crappy

From Autumn To Ashes - "Let's Have A War" - More horrible then the Saves the Day cover. They brutally raped this song, no one should be allowed to cover Fear either

Emanuel - "Search & Destroy" - This was one of the better tracks. It was pretty close to the orginal, but the singer could never match Iggy

The Bled - "House of Suffering" - The Bled suck, end of story

Hot Snakes - "Time to Escape" - Never heard the orginal, but this one was okay.

Anxious 10-20-2005 04:29 PM

I take it you don't listen to much early harcore

Ghostfire3 10-20-2005 04:30 PM

Doesn't sound like the soundtack is too good and I only like one band that did a cover on it.

Brain Toad 10-20-2005 04:38 PM
I take it you don't listen to much early harcore
not as much as some people, no.

Or I've heard the songs once, like I'm sure I've heard the MT song since I've listened to the discog.

I think I've decided my major for when I transfer schools, Sociology. It's easier to transfer to and prepare for then majoring in music, and it seems more interesting then learning about music besides just the history.

Anxious 10-20-2005 07:25 PM

I'm the one that advised Steve Albini to form the band. So there.

Brain Toad 10-20-2005 07:27 PM

Steve Albini produced LoC's F'uck World Trade album.

Anxious 10-20-2005 07:29 PM

I find that amusing. Steve Albini produces everything though.

Flagjacket 10-20-2005 07:48 PM

Steve Albini is the Josh Freese of producing.
