I should probably listen to that...this guitarist in my theory class is bitching about me listening to it because I can't get past Pull Me Under. I CAN'T STAND IT!
Try Take the Time, that's my favourite.
you CANT stand 'Pull Me Under'? although ill admit that I&W is probably the least favourite of their albums that i own... but it still rules nonetheless... but back on topic... 'Pull Me Under' is an awesome song... what faults do you find in it?
it might be the repetitiveness (sp?)
But I think it's an awesome song really. Only the ending it's still so annoying, esp. when airdrumming to it, and all of the sudden it stops and I feel stupid :( |
Metropolis Pt. 1, Learning to Live and Take the Time are all better songs than PMU from I&W.
^
True, but that doesn't mean PMU is bad in any way. But the three songs you mentioned are the best of the album. Under A Glass Moon gets an honourable mention too. |
SF, I didn't like PMU much myself when I first heard it either. Now I love it.
Dont get me wrong, i think the whole album is great... but yeah my top three (in no real order) 'Pull Me Under', 'Metropolis', 'Wait for Sleep'(yes, im strange)... but the sudden ending in 'Pull Me Under' has a meaning...
I know about the meaning of PMU, but still it's annoying.
It would be annoying to die all of the sudden, but to have a track stop all of the sudden is not cool as well :p |
Surrounded and Learning to live are my favourites.
Wait for sleep is magnificent. |
Ill admit it caught me by surprise the first time... but yeah... you get used to it... just learn the intro to 'Another Day', that way you get to keep going after it ends... :)
Take The Time seriously owns all on I&W, especially after the 2nd(?) chorus when theres all that crazy instrumental stuff + when JLB is all like: 'Oooo'.
I think SFAM is still my favourite DT album.
SFAM and ToT are pretty even imo... they are both equal first position... however i do not own all their albums... yet... :)
IMO I&W is probably their best to date. PMU is sick, that's the first DT song i ever heard.
The intro is just... oooohh I can't explain it, I love it. There is not one mediocre song on that album they are all superb. |

I dunno...I don't like the riffing in it much, the acoustic part in the beginning pisses me off to no avail, and the chorus is extremely irritating. |

Endless Sacrifice, Home (its got a chorus melody, but the lyrics change), 6:00, Scarred, Lifting Shadows off a Dream, and tons of other DT songs actually have choruses... I'm really digging Innocence Faded right now. |
Im trying to learn Octavaium on the guitar. It really isnt a hard song to play, there is just soo much to remember.

I'm really digging Innocence Faded right now.
well i mean alot of their songs dont either which i think is awesome because it wont get repetitive and plain which the chorus of pull me under(besides when they play it live) can get bland but i mean i just love DT no matter what they do |
I thought the batteries had gone in my diskman walking home after buying I&W and hearing PMU. It's been one of my favourite DT songs since though, especially the 'watch the sparrow falling....' verse.

i love that part! :p |
Why does PMU end like that?
I think it was thier way of showing how death comes sudddenly or something like that. Atleast thats what I read on the forums a while back.
I couldnt even listen to PMU because of the way it ended , It just annoyed me so i got a wav editor and edited the mp3 to fade out. Now its happy listening. |
lol, cool. But I don't mind how it ends.
Yeah I don't mind the ending at all.
Haha, that's a little bit obsessive.
I always thought it was a problem with my CD. |
Yeah me too, I thought that the CD had a scratch.
Have anyone listened When Dream and Day United CD?
Yes, I love it.
Day and Dream United?
So is it a good CD?
Cuz that's the only DT album that I haven't heard.
Oh when day and dream unite. I thought you were talking about a bootleg or something. Its a good album if you aren't expecting it to sound like DT.
I don't know if this is to much to ask for, but can anyone of you pass me that albeum? I'll be very thankfull for that.
I would but it's 3am and I have to be at work in a few hours. :upset:
OK, well thanks anyways RideThaSpiral, just in case that you can pass it to me later, my email is assabeth@gmail.com
Alright I'm sending it.
Thanks a lot dude!!! And have a great day.
this sucks... i went to buy a dream theater album but all they had was WD&DR(dont wanna hear it), train of thought(alrede have), falling into infinity(sucky), and change of seasons(which to me is not a great album although the song is great so i ended up getting an iron maiden album, damn them for not having octavarium or scenes from a memory!!
