Wake and bake is when you wake up and smoke marijuana to start off your morning....to most it just sounds like a drug addicy thing to do, and some people get mad at drug discussions in this thread....so lets not bring it up anymore for the time being.
I think High Hopes is one of my favourites from The Division Bell. What does everyone think of A Momentary Lapse of Reason? I love it. I like it more than Animals actually, although it's not as good as some of (most of) Pink Floyd's earlier albums. Here's one thing I've always wondered about Pink Floyd fans. What do you guys think of live Zeppelin? I honestly think live Zeppelin (The Soundtrack to the Song Remains the Same, HTWWW etc) is just as ingenius/experimental/"trippy" as a lot of Pink Floyd. It would be awesome to hear Pink Floyd and Zeppelin jam on a song like No Quarter. I hear definite Pink Floyd influences in Zeppelin songs like No Quarter.
u have to remember they did some stuff together too, so there going to have a good amount of simalities |
MLOR gave us Sorrow, and for that, I am eternaly grateful.
I always thought of live Zep to be of less 'quality' - for lack of a better word - than live Floyd. |
o wait nvr mind reading to fast
|
im not exactly sure how yall boot but can somebody get me THE WALL
? |
MLOR gave us Sorrow, and for that, I am eternaly grateful.

Zeppelin always had a more raw sounding live show, the music was played a lot more loosely and there was a lot more improvising. I really don't think live Floyd is any better than studio Floyd....although I think live Zeppelin blows away studio Zeppelin. Yeah, with MLOR I sort of have mixed opinions....I think it has some of Pink Floyd's most beautiful sounding songs (well, like top 10 or 20), but then it also has some very unastounding songs. |
I like MLOR, but its kind of sad to me that Waters quit the band. Its pretty good, but there are a lot more that I think are better. Also, the sound is just messed up, its really different from others.
I think live Floyd has always been better than studio floyd. They were always known for their live show, even back in the 60's. The first half of their career, they were known for their improv and light show live. Then they later went focused on making their live show more of a visual experience, even though they still had some improv live.
Also, the sound is just messed up, its really different from others.
Care to go into some detail? I think MLoR sounds much more like Floyd than The Final Cut was. NP: One of my Turns(live) Heh, those balloon characters are creepy. |
Personally, I don't think think live Floyd offers much more than a very well done recreation (and occasional improvisation) of the studio albums....although visually it is the most one of the most amazing music-related experiences a person could go through.
I think MLOR sounds great, how doesn't it sound like Pink Floyd? |
I've decided that i'm gonna be extremely nice :). Well i have a whole wall concert on video on my computer. I'm gonna try and give it to you guys. Just tell me how to upload and like under what program or whatever.

As far as live Zeppelin goes, I'll agree with you that they had some killer jams, and certainly put on a great show, but I'd say Pink Floyd put on a better one. My friend has the Zeppelin DVD, though, and its great. Its a shame most of the regulars hate Zeppelin... Robert Plant gets and aweful rep (I don't like him as much as I used to, but he's still great.) |

I feel like Robert Plant is one of the few singers who can scream "baaaaby" at random times, play an air guitar type thing with the microphone wire, and immitate guitar notes in a song without sounding/looking like a complete idiot. He's really energetic and has an amazing stage presence. I just watched the first disc of the Zeppelin DVD yesterday again and it's great. I always seem to look past zepellin alot but then i listen to a couple songs and I always feel like they're the second greatest band of all time. (second to pf of course);) |
You might dislike me for this but I feel that Led Zep is a better band.
But you really can't compare the two. Two completely different bands |

I was spamming with that other dude.
Sorry it won't happen again |
hey does everyone get the general idea of The Wall because i get i explain it to them, they still dont know, and so i will be telling them forever what it means and i jsut wanted to know if anyone else is lost by the movie
|
I have heard only the tiniest parts of The Division Bell, but it seemed very solid. I think it's going to be one of the next albums I get from PF
|
Live Zeppelin bores the hell outta me.
Agreed. I don't much like Zeppelin, live or recorded. |

The Wall. Here's what I got from it, judging from the movie and lyrics. The Wall starts out with In The Flesh. This is.. Well something that gets explained later in the story. Second song would be Mother, this is basically stating that there a little kid invovled.. I suppose. As the story goes on, the boy (Pink), his father gets killed in a war. He grows up without a father, so he learns a lot of things a father normally shows a child, the hard way. He grows up to lead a cult. At the end of the story, he is caught, and prosecuted. (The Trial) and then "The Wall" which is a fictional wall, of course, is torn down. The Wall that Pink builds a long the way is a shelter.. Because he can't come to terms with his past. Like a boy who was molested or whatever, he's fk'd up basically, so he hides his feelings. |
I listened to The Division Bell all the way through today, it's pretty cool. Gilmour really shines on this album, and his tone is perfect. I think I'll get it next.

Does he die in the rioting? |
No, the trial is the very end. The only thing after the trial is people, (particularly the little kids) picking up the pieces of the broken wall.
|
No, the riots are before the Trial.
|
Maybe I just have a really bad memory. And it isn't the most clear story in the world. So is it just open ended after the Trial?
|
i need to rewatch it also, and rocky horror picture show

http://www.coffeeshop.freeuk.com/Database/ShopsA/PinkFloyd.html
That's awesome. I've been to Amsterdam, but it was several years ago. |
I want to go to amstredam
I've heard from friends that it's tons of fun |
Are we allowed to put a YSI link on MX if we're performing a song by another band? I just found a dinky old mic, so I decided to record Is There Anybody Out There? Only one take, so it's not great, but I'm happy with it for what it is.
