That would make me cry.

Jev 02-09-2006 03:41 AM

Heh. It'd probably be released by them later and thousands of uneducated fans will think it's an original.

.:Thrasher:. 02-09-2006 04:56 AM
True, they'd probably all let us down with Greenday playing a punk version of A Tout Le Monde.
il prob punch greenday to wet bone then pull of there balls.

they definently deserve there own MTV icon even though its a **** network

Jev 02-09-2006 02:09 PM

I don't see it happening though. Megadeth aren't big enough.

Father_Jack 02-09-2006 02:12 PM
I don't see it happening though. Megadeth aren't big* enough.
*Mainstream.

Same thing though. But whenever you mention Megadeth, people are like  Is that some kind of satnic death band. It's like, no there are just like one of the biggest thrash acts on the planet but whatever.

Jev 02-09-2006 02:25 PM

Yeah. They've had their 15 minutes on MTV though. If you read the RIP booklet Dave says "The videos for Holy Wars and Hangar 18 turned us into MTV Darlings". So I doubt we'll ever see them on MTV again.

clairvoyant 02-09-2006 05:37 PM

Yea...I wish would have been around earlier when Symphony Of Destruction was played a lot on MTV.

I was only 4 then :(

Jev 02-10-2006 01:53 AM

Haha same here. I wish I had MTV around that time... When they actually played Music videos.

.:Thrasher:. 02-10-2006 03:02 AM

lol everyone from the Metallica thread post here

i think they do seeing as there the second best thrash band. no actually im gonna say first seeing as Metallica first album was practically written by mustain

superdigg 02-10-2006 09:32 AM
No I haven't. But I imagine it's really good

when did they do it?
I just downloaded it. i dunno, i don't like it that much. it feels sorta weak compared to the original. less "urgent".

Jev 02-10-2006 09:55 AM
lol everyone from the Metallica thread post here
That's because both bands are so awesome.

I'll try to find that Norther cover.

Drone 02-10-2006 08:27 PM

James Macdonough has left the band :(.

clairvoyant 02-10-2006 10:02 PM
James Macdonough has left the band :(.
D'oh!

From Blabbermouth.net
MEGADETH Part Ways With Bassist JAMES MACDONOUGH - Feb. 10, 2006
MEGADETH have parted ways with bassist James MacDonough. In a posting on the band's official forum, James wrote, "I just wanted to say thank you all so much for making me feel so welcome and thank you for all the awesome memories along the road. I will not be playing with MEGADETH any longer. I'm sure Dave [Mustaine, MEGADETH mainman] will post about it soon. Thanks again my metal brothers and sisters."

Could MacDonough's departure signal the return of MEGADETH's original bassist David Ellefson? In a a February 4, 2006 online posting on the band's web site, Mustaine wrote, "I said it before, [and] I'll say it again: I once was resentful, but now I am over the feuds with METALLICA, Ellefson, whomever. I have actually met with Ellefson one-on-one for dinner last year around [Christmas] to just clear the air and let him know I have no hard feelings and wanted to remain friends with him. We have talked on the phone numerous times since."

MEGADETH's next live appearance is scheduled for March 16 at the Desert Rock 2006 festival in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
ghettoeddo 02-10-2006 10:18 PM

i would like ellefson to come back.

geez, how many lineup changes has megadeth HAD now?

Chu 02-10-2006 11:00 PM

Too many :p

FatalEnergy 02-10-2006 11:30 PM

I have a feeling Ellefson will come back. Mustaine said he was on good terms with him again.....so mabye.

Apocalyptic Raids 02-10-2006 11:39 PM

I didn't expect that.

Good news this.

NP: Judas Priest - Between The Hammer & The Anvil

FatalEnergy 02-10-2006 11:43 PM

Hopefully Dave posts about this soon on the Megadeth forums. Like I remember when Menza was supposedly going to be in 'Deth again and then all of a sudden he wasn't. Dave took like 3 weeks to let everyone know about it and it was like 2 days before the tour started.

.:Thrasher:. 02-11-2006 06:39 AM

20 mill anyone?

Father 02-11-2006 06:46 AM

I hope they find a bassist before the Dubai Gig.. Im gonna see them there.

Jev 02-11-2006 07:14 AM

Wow. That was completely unexpected. GET ELLEFSON BACK!
and then knock off the other members and get Freidman and Menza back :D

Apocalyptic Raids 02-11-2006 07:48 AM

Sounds to me like he was sacked...

Drone 02-11-2006 07:57 AM

I don't want Ellefson back. I also do not want Friedman or Menza back. A reunion like that would just cause a ton of turbulence in the band again. This would then likely lead to Dave disbanding Megadeth again. I am waiting for Dave to post about this on the Megadeth forums, I want to hear from the general himself.

Jev 02-11-2006 09:08 AM
Sounds to me like he was sacked...
Probably.

Friedman wouldn't come back anyway, I'm just dreaming. He said he's not interested in metal any more.

.:Thrasher:. 02-12-2006 02:19 AM

Megadeth's best line up was Dave, Dave, Nick, Marty

hands down

Mr_Bounce 02-12-2006 04:28 AM

I don't know, I never really got into them. To be fair, my friend has their DISCOGRAPHY, so I should check that out. I haven't heard much, but they ARE on one of the four big Thrash bands (funnily enough I don't like much thrash, not melodic enough; just _fast_ and boring melodies): Megadeth, Metallica, Slayer, Anthrax. Hmmm, this thread intrigued me :D

Jev 02-12-2006 05:09 AM

Steal his Peace Sells, Rust In Peace, So Far So Good So What and Countdown to Extinction and then decide if you like them.

Don't forget The System Has Failed.

Jev 02-12-2006 12:42 PM

Meh, steal them all.

Actually, I think Megadeth does have a lot of melody in their thrash, one of the reasons I prefer them to say Slayer (Although Slayer definately has the factor of speed over Megadeth, Megadeth has more melody imo).

ClassicRocker1330 02-12-2006 08:52 PM

megadeth has to be my favorite band in the whole world...i bought the system has failed (truly a work of art) and since then i cant get enough of em.also they're the band that got me into metal, dave has to be my favorite guitarist.

rockgod90 02-12-2006 08:58 PM
They will tour.

But the new album sucks. The 3 songs alot of people have heard already (Kick The Chair, Blackmail The Universe and Die Dead Enough) are the best on it. It really does suck, by st. anger proportions. And ellefeson is sueing :(
He claims to have came up with the Spider riff in Leper Messiah but that's it.

Apocalyptic Raids 02-13-2006 06:50 AM

That was news to me!

I don't really know anything about him or BLS at all.

meh

superdigg 02-13-2006 07:03 AM
:-\

Oh well. It's not like he will have much of an impact anyway.
this is true, but it's still pretty big news, the thread was freaking out a little at macdonough's departure. and who knows, maybe dave will have a change of heart and suddenly decide that he wants the whole band's input on what's probably gonna be their last album?

EDIT: aw you ninja edited :(
