Black Hand Inn is by far their best imo. Port Royal is great too. their song Treasure Island off of Pile of Skulls is so epic, but they live off of epic songs

pate 11-02-2007 07:41 AM
You're missing out. Go get Port Royale. The Brotherhood is newer and is kind of weak.
Will do. I was going to check out another album, just because of how people here feel about them.

Stormrider 11-02-2007 08:36 AM

Port Royal is my favorite one so far.

Someone will lend me their Blazen Stone copy soon, so I'll be listening to that one next.

Mother 11-02-2007 08:50 AM

Im listening to this album "astronomy" by "Dragonlord" . Isn't DragonLord that dude from Testamens (Eric Peterson I think his name was) side project?

Yeah. He looks retarded in corpse paint.

Mother 11-02-2007 10:08 AM

Oshi I ment Dragonland

ZapatoDiablo 11-02-2007 10:21 AM

Haha I had a feeling because Dragonlord is more black metalish

pate 11-02-2007 10:25 AM

Dragonlord is the only thing Eric Peterson's ever done that sucks.

Steerpike 11-02-2007 10:53 AM

Does anybody have the Against the Plagues debut album? It's the side project of Lost Horizon's guitarist.

Riva 11-06-2007 06:38 PM

Which guitarist, Alex? I'd like to hear it also.

Speaking of LH side projects, I'm still unsure as to my feelings towards Heed. :-/

Tyler 11-06-2007 06:38 PM

I saw the Heed video and I laughed, but it wasn't the same laughter I got from LH. Just not the same.

Steerpike 11-06-2007 06:47 PM
Which guitarist, Alex? I'd like to hear it also.
Wojtek Lisicki.

It's more of an extreme metal project than Lost Horizon. Apparently, he wants to get a little more work done with Against the Plagues before making another Lost Horizon album.

Riva 11-06-2007 06:54 PM

That's alright, I don't want them to ruin the magic for me just yet by releasing a new Lost Horizon album with a terrible vocalist. :p

Shattered_Future 11-07-2007 04:49 PM

Bleh, Heed is absolutely terrible. The death vocals just don't work for me...

Tyler 11-07-2007 04:52 PM

yeah the screaming is lame but it's still mostly just him singing.

Steerpike 11-14-2007 12:51 PM

Finally caught up on what's going on with Human Fortress.

Apparently, Jioti left the band due to some concerns over his health. He's currently working with two projects, Victory in Germany and Euroforce in Greece.

Carsten Frank of Galloglass fame has stepped in as the new frontman and will continue to be their producer as well. It'll be interesting to see the results of this.

Shattered_Future 11-14-2007 03:52 PM

Carsten's a killer vocalist, but the production on Heavenseeker was absolutely terrible.

Poet 11-14-2007 03:58 PM

Ok....why exactly did Daniel leave Lost Horizon??

That'll be good. Carsten really improved his voice on Heavenseeker when compared to Legends From Now And Nevermore.
Ok....why exactly did Daniel leave Lost Horizon??
Differences of opinion, I reckon, and he wanted to pay more attention to Heed.

Whaa?

I really need to listen to that album, then. His voice on Legends From Now and Nevermore is fantastic.

Shattered_Future 11-14-2007 07:31 PM

Heavenseeker is pretty freakin' terrible, I think. The songs aren't as good, and it's overproduced to the point where it makes everything sound godawful.

Cover art is bitchin' though.

Riva 11-15-2007 08:12 PM

Carsten's voice and Lorenz' drumming improved quite a bit on Heavenseeker, but yeah, in general the songs aren't as good. I think the reason the sound is so overproduced is because the band themselves had a huge say in the mixing of the album, and they really spent more time than is necessary tweaking it. Though I do enjoy the thrashier sound they came up with.

Shattered_Future 11-15-2007 08:36 PM

The first 2 tracks I really like. After that, not so much...

Riva 11-15-2007 08:38 PM

Carsten's lyrics on Burden of Grief are terrible though. :-/ Maybe they got twisted going from German to English, but "put my anger back on the shelf". Wtf mate?

Shattered_Future 11-15-2007 08:41 PM

I didn't notice the lyrics. Oh well...

Riva 11-15-2007 08:45 PM

I'm quite into power metal lyrics. Which is why Lost Horizon kick arse.

Well that sucks. I have listened to a couple of Heed songs and they are no where as good as Lost Horizon

Riva 11-24-2007 05:02 AM

Gamma Ray - Somewhere Out In Space is so damn awesome for headbanging to. My stars.

Deth 11-24-2007 12:02 PM

As I was reading that last post Gamma Ray came up in shuffle. It's Land of the Free in my case, but regardless of that, much headbanging has begun.

ZapatoDiablo 11-24-2007 12:25 PM

Has anyone heard Armageddon? I have come to the conclusion that Chris Amott is much better off in Arch Enemy where he doesn't have to write songs. Even his lead playing has become a little stale to me after listening to a couple of his albums.

pate 11-27-2007 08:35 PM

Somebody recommend me something similar to Primal Fear that isn't Gamma Ray or Helloween or Judas Priest.

Deth 11-27-2007 08:39 PM

Judas Priest.

pate 11-27-2007 08:44 PM

  I forgot to put them in my no-no list.

Black Majesty, Seven Witches, Nocturnal Rites, Cryonic Temple

Tyler 11-27-2007 08:47 PM

I like the Black Majesty album I have.

ps: LIVING FOR METAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAL

I don't like SW, like Nocturnal Rites, and haven't heard the others. Thanks. :p

Tyler 11-27-2007 08:50 PM

Go for Silent Company by Black Majesty

pate 11-27-2007 08:52 PM

*puts on list*

It's got a badass cover too.

Ralf Scheepers is becoming one of my favorite singers.

Tyler 11-27-2007 08:53 PM

ps: METAL IS FOREVERRRRRRRRRRRR
