hello maiden fans

i always thought iron maiden was alright but then i felt like buying the greatest hits. i was quite impressed, i don't know much about iron maiden but i think bruce dickinson is the best singer of them all. they have great musicians. i want some people here to suggest me

1) best iron maiden songs that are not on the edward the great album

2) fairly easy iron maiden song to play on guitar, (not that any iron maiden is easy but the ones that are the least hard to play)

thanks in advance :thumb:
Lord Abortion 02-09-2005 09:26 AM

okay I can do 1...
in no perticular order...

hallowed be thy name
aces high
the sign of the cross
fortunes of war
where eagles dare
brave new world
the ghost of the navigator
heaven can wait
blood brothers
paschendale
dream of mirrors
powerslave
the rime of the ancient mariner
still life
the aftermath
wrathchild
another life
purgatory
twilight zone
strange world
sanctuary
prowler
remember tomorrow
children of the ****ed

IAJP 02-09-2005 09:38 AM

Songs that are easy to play:
Flight Of The Icarus,
The Trooper
(^I know that both these are on the greatest hits^)
Hallowed Be Thy Name,
Running Free,
Ghengis Kahn,
Where Eagles Dare.

I'll think of some more later when I'm not as busy as I am now, I hope these help you though, up the irons!

On guitar? All of them? Including solos?

**** you must really kick *** as guitar!

IAJP 02-09-2005 10:08 AM

Ghost Of The Navigator is amazingly hard, I tried once, and then subsequently failed, and never tried again

i don't think he ment that he can play them on the guitar

MAthiAS 02-09-2005 11:36 AM

What do you guys think are Maiden's toughest solos to play? I've never attempted any other than the Trooper (fairly easy, but a good solo nonetheless). Aces High strikes me as a challenge.

ashman 02-09-2005 11:38 AM

Songs I can play on Guitar all the way through:

Hallowed be thy name
The Wickerman
The Trooper
Number of the Beast
Journeyman (acoustic)
Phantom of the Opera
Burning Ambition
Losfer words (Big 'Orra)
No More lies

Songs I can kinda play all the way through:

Holy Smoke (bloody solos)
Blood Brothers
Lord of the Flies
Sign of the Cross (I need to play this song with a Bass and 2nd Guitarist)
Paschendale (Those crazy rhythms, I can't get my head around it)
Judgement day
Wasting Love
Afraid to shoot Strangers
From here to eternity
Translyvania
Killers
Twiliight zone (I can't figure out the solo)
Revelations
Caught somewhere in time
Rainmaker
Brave new world (Daves solo is the spawn of satan, but it sounds so sweet)

Songs I've tried to play all the way through and failed miserably:

Infinite dreams (Curse that intro)
Sevength son (I can only do up to the interlude)
Judas be my guide
Aces High

Songs I can play on Bass:

Trooper
Hallowed Be thy Name
Phantom of ther opera (except the triplets, I can't get it to sound right)
Blood Brothers
The Wickerman
Journeyman

I think that's it, not bad for only 3 years playing is it?

I've never tried to play the aces high solo, but one of the hardest I've tried was the Brave new world solo, Dave has some weird fingers. His smile gives him extraordinary powers...

IAJP 02-09-2005 11:45 AM

I can play most of Maiden's hits,
so I can play it and people go " Flight Of The Icarus "

When you're trying to play Wasted Years*...

*Bad Joke

IAJP 02-09-2005 11:50 AM

I don't mind Wasted Years,
somewhere in time is a great album.

ashman 02-09-2005 12:01 PM

Yeah it is, it's my second favourite album after SSOASS...

MAthiAS 02-09-2005 12:06 PM

The intro of Wasted Years > the song Wasted Years

Somewhere in Time is probably my third favorite of Maidens, after SSOASS and NOTB.

rik 02-09-2005 01:32 PM

I don't really like Somewhere in Time that much to be honest. It's probably my least listened to Maiden album that i own.

MAthiAS 02-09-2005 01:38 PM

My least listened to would have to be Powerslave. I love the album, but I just don't listen to it. No idea why.

Josh 02-09-2005 01:55 PM

my least listened to is probably SSOASS. most listened to would probably be brave new world

and wasted years is probably one of my favourite maiden songs.

Eilli W. Kcender 02-09-2005 02:00 PM

Just out of curiosity....does maiden have any "best of" CD that showcases their newer stuff. By newer stuff, I mean within the past 10 years? I haven't listened since no prayer and wanted to get a good sampling of their newer material.

Thanks.

ashman 02-09-2005 02:11 PM

Well there's Edward the Great, it has some of the older stuff as well, but it does have some of the newer stuff.

Josh 02-09-2005 02:31 PM

that would probably be the best one to get for newer stuff, although a lot of it is pre-NPFD. rock in rio isnt a best of, its a live album, but it has a lot of the stuff from brave new world (2000?) on it.

ashman 02-09-2005 04:50 PM

Yeah RiR is your best bet for the latest stuff. Or even the DoD live CD/DVD when it ever comes out :upset:

MAthiAS 02-09-2005 05:45 PM

Or just buy Brave New World, its worth it.

Dannyboy15 02-09-2005 06:03 PM

I was at my friends house watching rock in rio on his big screen with a **** good surround sound system. It's godly

LynneZ 02-09-2005 06:36 PM

Hi guys. I'm a newbie and a big IM fan. Some of you might know me from the Official IM board. IM fans are some of the coolest fans in the world.

To event spamming, I will not post a link just yet. I am one of the leaders currently supporting a campaign for an exclusive heavy metal video channel. Our goal is to achieve an outlet where our metal artists no longer have to fight the industry to get their music heard. We have (7) artists that have signed so far. YEAH!

Some of our biggest support has come from Maiden Fans. : ) One thing we would love to accomplish is to have our artists take 2-3 clips from their “Live” DVD’s and have those put into music video format. Those music videos could be played in rotation on our proposed channel. It's much cheaper for them and it allows their newer music to be heard. It would also increase CD AND DVD sales.

Okay, well I have rambled enough. I will let you guys tell me if you would like me to post the link.

**Aces High is one of my favs. However, a friend of mine was playing their new CD is his car and it was off the hook!!!
